Fix (APAR): PQ88994 Status: Fix Release: 5.0.2, 5.0.2.1, 5.0.2.2, 5.0.2.3, 5.0.2.4, 5.0.2.5, 5.0.2.6 Operating System: All Supersedes Fixes: CMVC Defect: PQ88994 Byte size of APAR: 102818 Date: 2004-05-21 Abstract: On startup with Replication enabled, an IndexOutOfBoundsException and deadlock occurs Description/symptom of problem: When attempting to start the application server, it does not startup cleanly. In such a configuration, the application server will have been configured to use replication with Dyanmic Caching where many caching instances are created in on JVM. The hang and the exception are caused by deadlocks between threads completing initialization and threads already attempting to use resources still being initialized. This fix contains some fixes that fix this problem. Directions to apply fix: NOTE: YOU MUST FIRST DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE INSTALLER TOOL IN ORDER TO INSTALL A FIX. The Fix Installer can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/was/support/ 1) Create temporary "fix" directory to store the jar file: UNIX: /tmp/WebSphere/fix Windows: c:\temp\WebSphere\fix 2) Copy jar file to the directory 3) Shutdown WebSphere 4) Follow the Fix installation instructions that are packaged with the Fix Installer on how to install the Fix. 5) Restart WebSphere 6) The temp directory may be removed.
