Fix (APAR): PK67516 Status: Fix Release: 6.1.0.17,6.1.0.15 Operating System: AIX,HP-UX,i5/OS,Linux,Linux pSeries,Linux zSeries,OS/400,Solaris,Windows Supersedes Fixes: CMVC Defect: PK67516 Byte size of APAR: 27046 Date: 2008-06-23 Abstract: Missing entries in serverindex.xml cause the server to fail to start Description/symptom of problem: PK67516 resolves the following problem: ERROR DESCRIPTION: Product Version: WebSphere Application Server 6.1 OS: Windows Problem Description: When migrating certain profiles from WebSphere Application Server V6.0.2 to V6.1 the WC_defaulthost and WC_defaulthost_secure entries to the serverindex.xml file are not always migrated correctly. The entries can end up missing from the serverindex.xml file after migration which ultimately makes it so that the server associated with the migrated profile cannot start. The SystemOut.log will display a message similar to this: WSVR0009E: Error occurred during startup com.ibm.ws.exception.ConfigurationError: com.ibm.ws.exception.ConfigurationError: endPointName "WC_defaulthost" could not be resolved; please check serverindex.xml LOCAL FIX: None. PROBLEM SUMMARY USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.1 Migration runtime tool PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Missing entries in serverindex.xml cause the server to fail to start RECOMMENDATION: None When migrating certain profiles that contain two nodes from WebSphere Application Server V6.0.2 to V6.1, the WC_defaulthost and WC_defaulthost_secure entries can end up missing from the serverindex.xml file after migration. This can cause the server associated with the migrated profile fail to start. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: To prevent missing entries in serverindex.xml, we added some extra logic to check two nodes and special cases. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.1.0.21.
