Fix (APAR): PK40659 Status: Fix Release: 6.0.2.19,6.0.2.17 Operating System: AIX,HP-UX,Linux,OS/390,Solaris,Windows,z/OS Supersedes Fixes: CMVC Defect: PK40659 Byte size of APAR: 35163 Date: 2007-05-22 Abstract: Error on edit of the IBM HTTP Server configuration file, the last line fails to delete. Description/symptom of problem: PK40659 resolves the following problem: ERROR DESCRIPTION: Using the Admin Console's navigate to Servers > Web Servers > Web Server Name > Configuration Tab, push the edit httpd.conf. There must be a node agent between the IHS server and WebSphere. This is the only way you can get the edit function with the Admin Console. At the very bottom of the httpd.conf file in the edit window is the WebSpherePluginConfig parameter for the path to the plugin-cfg.xml file. Making changes to this parameter are not saved properly in the httpd.conf file. This behavior is seen in 6.0.2.15 and 6.0.2.17. In my recreate I commented out the plugin path found in the httpd.conf file. Inserted a long path for the plugin-cfg.xml that I just made up. I clicked the Apply button and then Saved my changes. This appeared to work. I then uncommented the original path and deleted the path I had just made up. Clicked the Apply button and saved the changes. I then reviewed the httpd.conf file and found the line was uncommented but the deleted line remained. LOCAL FIX: To correct this issue, manually edit the httpd.conf file using an editor, such as vi. Delete the offending entry within the file and save it. Restart IHS. PROBLEM SUMMARY USERS AFFECTED: This APAR affects IBM WebSphere Administration console users who are administering and configuring the IBM HTTP Server through a managed node. Customers who attempt to edit the IBM HTTP Server configuration file through the IBM WebSphere Administraiton Console may not be able to delete lines from the IBM HTTP Server configuration file (httpd.conf). PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Error on edit of the IBM HTTP Server configuration file, the last line fails to delete. RECOMMENDATION: None The IBM HTTP Server configuration file (httpd.conf) is edited through the IBM WebSphere Administraiton Console and fails to handle a delete of the last line of the configuration file even though the edit "ok" operation is flagged as successful. This can cause syntax errors on the IBM HTTP Server Configuration file if the line to be deleted is not a valid IBM HTTP Server Directive. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: FileTranfer class to write the IBM HTTP Server configuration file write method has been corrected. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.0.2.21.
