Fix (APAR): PI36346 Status: Fix Release: 8.5.5.5 Operating System: AIX,HP-UX,IBM i,Inspur K-UX,Linux,Mac OS,Solaris,Windows Supersedes Fixes: CMVC Defect: xxxxxx Byte size of APAR: 391007 Date: 2015-03-12 Abstract: performance issue with certain object model operations Description/symptom of problem: PI36346 resolves the following problem: ERROR DESCRIPTION: Additional materialization of a tree that contains both the original and the copied node affects performance. LOCAL FIX: PROBLEM SUMMARY USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Certain operations on a copied object graph were causing it to be fully materialized. RECOMMENDATION: None When a copied node and it's original node are in the same object graph, operations such as copying or moving nodes would trigger some part of the object graph to be fully materialized. Depending on the size of the materialized portion, this might affect performance. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: Some optimizations are now in place that avoid a full materialization of a copied object graph during certain operations. This materialization is delayed until it reaches a scenario where it is actually needed. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.6.
