Before you migrate a WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS® Version 7.0 or later node
to Version 9.0, you must
create Job Control Language (JCL) jobs (CNTL and DATA datasets) that
you will run on z/OS during the actual migration. You can use
the z/OS Migration Management Tool to create migration
definitions and upload the appropriate migration jobs.

Supported configurations: This article is about profile configuration migration. To
migrate your applications to the latest version, use the WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit. For more information, see the Migration
Toolkit on WASdev.

Use the completed worksheet as a reference when you create your
migration definition.
Procedure
- Start the z/OS Migration Management Tool.
Read Starting the z/OS Migration Management Tool for more information.
- To initially specify a location where you want migration
definition files to be stored on your workstation or to add another
migration location to the Migration Locations table, perform the following
actions:
- Click Add.
- Enter the path name of the location where you want to
store the migration data.
Important: The migration
location directory must be empty when you create a new migration location.
- Enter a name to be associated with the table entry.
- Select the version of WebSphere Application Server to which you are migrating.
- Click Finish.
- In the Migration Locations table, select the location where
you want to save the migration definition.
- Click Migrate.
- Complete the fields in the panels using the values that
you entered for the variables on the configuration worksheet that
you created, clicking Back and Next as necessary.
Tips: - Hover your cursor over a field for help information.
- Click Cancel at any time to leave the creation
process without generating a migration definition.
When you have successfully entered all of the necessary
information on the panels for this type of migration definition, the z/OS Migration Management Tool displays the definition type,
location, and name on the
Migration Summary panel.
- Click Create to build the migration
definition on your workstation.
- Read the information on the Migration Creation Summary
panel.
Tip: You might want to make a note
of the name and response-file location for future reference.
- Click Finish.
