Processing a migration definition using the z/OS Migration Management Tool

Before you migrate a WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS® Versão 7.0 ou posterior node to Versão 9.0, you must create Job Control Language (JCL) jobs (CNTL and DATA datasets) that you will run on z/OS during the actual migration. You can use the z/OS Migration Management Tool to create a migration definition and upload the appropriate migration jobs. Learn how to upload migration jobs to a target z/OS system using the z/OS Migration Management Tool. Also learn how to export the jobs for a migration definition to a directory on the local file system using the z/OS Migration Management Tool.

Procedure

  1. Start the z/OS Migration Management Tool.

Read Starting the z/OS Migration Management Tool for more information.

  2. In the Migration Locations table, select the location of the migration definition that you want to process.

    • On the Upload Migration Definition panel, specify the necessary upload information.
      1. In the Target z/OS system field, enter the IP name or address of the z/OS system to which you want to upload the migration jobs.
      2. In the User ID field, enter the user ID that you want to use to log on to the FTP server on the target z/OS system.
      3. In the Password field, enter the password for the user ID that you want to use to log on to the FTP server on the target z/OS system.
      4. In the Server port field, enter the port number of the FTP server on the target z/OS system.
      5. In the Timeout field, enter the number of seconds that can elapse without any I/O operation completing before the upload is stopped.
      6. If you want to allocate the target z/OS datasets, select Allocate target z/OS datasets and complete the two fields that are activated.
Note: If you are uploading the migration jobs to a system different from the system on which you want to run the jobs, you must target a volume that is shared by those systems.
        1. In the Volume field, enter the volume for the target datasets.
        2. In the Unit field, enter the unit for the target datasets.
