WebSphere
Application Server for z/OS® supports migration paths to
Version 9.0 from the
following releases:
- Version 7.x
- Version 8.0
- Version 8.5.x
In addition to migration, it is possible for these WebSphere Application Server versions to coexist with
Version 9.0.
Procedure
- Install the Version 9.0 product. For information about preparing your operating system and installing the product, see the
installation documentation.
- To learn about the migration utilities, read Overview of migration, coexistence, and interoperability.
- When you prepare to migrate to Version 9.0, read Migration considerations
- Review the Ensuring problem avoidance article in the documentation, making sure
that each task has been completed before you begin.
- Review Roadmap: Migrating and coexisting application servers to determine whether you want the two versions
of the product to coexist in the same environment or you want to perform a complete migration.
- On Linux and UNIX operating systems, if you are migrating between root and non-root configurations, prepare your file system.
