Before you migrate to WebSphere® Application Server Version 9.0, you must make sure
that you meet certain requirements.
Before you begin
Supported configurations: This article is about profile configuration migration. To
migrate your applications to the latest version, use the WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit. For more information, see the Migration
Toolkit on WASdev.

Procedure
- Make sure that you have the minimum version of source WebSphere Application Server that is required. You must be at WebSphere Application Server
Version 7.0 or later.
To determine the current level of WebSphere Application Server installed on your system, perform these steps:
- Enter the following command on the command line:
WRKLNK '/QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V6/product_dir/properties/version/WAS.product'
where
product_dir is: - Base for WebSphere Application Server (base) and
- ND for WebSphere Application Server, Network Deployment
- Specify option 5 (Display) next to the product file to view the contents. The number within the
<version> tags shows the current version that you have installed.
If you do not meet the minimum version, obtain the latest Fix Pack. For information on the
correct Fix Pack for your operating-system release level and WebSphere Application Server product, see WebSphere Application Server for IBM i.
- Make sure that WebSphere Application Server Version 9.0 is installed.
WebSphere Application Server, Network Deployment needs to be installed if you are migrating to WebSphere Application Server, Network Deployment.
- Make sure that your user profile has *ALLOBJ authority.
When you call the WASPreUpgrade and WASPostUpgrade migration tools, your user profile must
have *ALLOBJ authority.
