Starting the application server environment in the QWAS85 subsystem

WebSphere® Application Server runs in its own subsystem, called QWAS85, which is installed with the product. Use these steps to prepare your system to run WebSphere Application Server profiles.

About this task

WebSphere Application Server profiles run in the QWAS85 subsystem and require that TCP/IP is configured and activated on the system. To prepare your system to run WebSphere Application Server profiles:

Procedure

  1. Start Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). On the CL command line, enter:
    STRTCP
  2. Start your application server profile. If the QWAS85 subsystem is not active, it is started when you start your application server profile.
    Avoid trouble Avoid trouble: The default application server does not automatically start when the subsystem is started. If the QWAS85 subsystem is not currently active when you use the startServer Qshell script to start your server, the QWAS85 subsystem is started.gotcha
