IBM® WebSphere® SDK Java Technology
Edition Version 6.0 is installed by default with WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.
Using IBM Installation Manager, you can install IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version
7.x.

which is included in Installation Manager Version 1.4.3 and later,
does not work with WebSphere Application
Server Version 8.5 offerings on systems other than z/OS®.

You can download and install IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version
7.1. This version and above versions are only available from the web.
You have the following installation options:
- Download the installation files from the IBM Fix Central website
and use a local installation.
- Access the live repositories and use your IBM Software ID for
a web-based installation.

Manager is now used to install, maintain, and uninstall IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version
7.x.
Perform one of these procedures to install, update,
roll back, or uninstall IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version 7.x using Installation
Manager.

Tip: Run the managesdk command
to switch the SDK used by commands and server profiles.
Note: If
you install IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology
Edition Version 7.x and then remove it later and there are profiles
or commands still using Java 7,
you will see errors. You can re-install IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version 7.x to fix these
errors.
