Tools for Eclipse is a lightweight set of tools for developing, assembling,
and deploying Java™ EE, OSGi,
Web 2.0, and mobile applications to WebSphere Application Server.
When combined with WebSphere Application
Server Version 8.5 Liberty Profile, the WebSphere Application Server Developer
Tools for Eclipse Version 8.5.5 provides a fast and lightweight environment
for the rapid development and testing of Java EE
web profile, Web 2.0, mobile, and OSGi applications.

Supported server tasks
The
following features are supported on all WebSphere Application Servers, except the
Liberty profile:
- Migrate the server when importing applications targeted to an
invalid server.
- Start and stop a remote server.
- Run and debug administrative script files on the server.
Note: The workbench does not support WebSphere Application Server V7.0 feature
packs and managed (federated) WebSphere Application
Server Network Deployment environments.
