Where migration tasks are performed

Review this table for a list of the required tasks to complete a successful migration. The table also explains where to perform them, and provides information links to help you achieve the tasks.

Perform steps 1-5 to migrate WebSphere Extended Deployment deployment manager.
1. Install WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0.2. On the machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1; deployment manager node.1
2. Create deployment manager profile. On Version 6.0.2 installation, on the machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment deployment manager node.2
3. Migrate deployment manager base configuration to Version 6.0.2 using WASPreUpgrade and WASPostUpgrade utilities. On Version 6.0.2 deployment manager, on machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment 5.1 deployment manager node.3
4. Install WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.1. On machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 deployment manager node.4
5. Augment Version 6.0.2 deployment manager profile with WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.1. On Version 6.0.2 deployment manager profile, on machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 deployment manager node.
Perform and repeat steps 6-12 for each WebSphere Extended Deployment application server node.
6. Install WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0.2. On machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 application server node.1
7. Create custom (managed) profile. On Version 6.0.2 installation, on machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 application server node.2
8. Migrate application server node base configuration to Version 6.0.2 custom profile using WASPreUpgrade and WASPostUpgrade utilities. On Version 6.0.2 custom profile, on machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 application server node.3
9. Install WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.1. On machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 application server node.4
10. Augment 6.0.2 custom profile with WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.1.

On Version 6.0.2 custom profile, on machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment 5.1 deployment manager node. Use the WebSphere Extended Deployment Profile Wizard to augment a profile located at.

11. Stop all processes in the cell. (non-applicable)
12. Migrate deployment manager WebSphere Extended Deployment configuration to Version 6.0.1 using the Migration wizard, which is the graphical interface to the migration command line tool, XDUpgrade. On Version 6.0.2 deployment manager profile, on machine hosting WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 5.1 deployment manager node.5
13. Start remaining servers.
