Configuring WebSphere Extended Deployment to enhance WebSphere Portal for Multiplatforms

Configure features of WebSphere Extended Deployment to enhance WebSphere Portal for Multiplatforms.

Before you begin

WebSphere Extended Deployment is installed and started, and at least one WebSphere Portal for Multiplatforms node is federated.

Procedure

  1. Create and configure the On Demand Router (ODR). See Creating ODRs for more information.
  2. Configure the dynamic operations. See Preparing the hosting environment for dynamic operations for more information.
    1. This process installs several applications along with WebSphere Portal. Remap all of the applications to the new dynamic cluster by clicking Map Modules to Servers.
    2. Modify the WPS_HOME/config/wpconfig.properties file. In the administrative console,
      • Click System administration > Cell to change the cell name to the name of your WebSphere Application Server cell.
      • Click System administration > Nodes to change the node name to name of the node on which WebSphere Portal is installed.
      • Click Servers > Application servers to change the name of the server name to the name of the application server for the dynamic cluster.
      • Click Servers > Application Servers > server_name > Ports to change the value of WpsHostPort to the port value of WC_defaulthost.
    3. Modify the WPS_HOME/shared/app/config/services/DeploymentServices. properties file by changing the name of the application server to the name of the dynamic cluster.
  3. Configure the virtual hosts. Check for the following entries:
    • Host name: *, Port: 443
    • Host name: *, Port: WpsHostPort

If the entries do not exist, create them and save the changes. See Configuring virtual hosts for more information.

  4. Configure the database sources. See Configuring a JDBC provider using the administrative console for more information.
  5. Configure the service policies. See Defining a service policy for more information.
  6. Configure the health monitoring. See Configuring health management for more information.
  7. Configure the autonomic managers. See Configuring the autonomic request flow manager for more information.
  8. Configure the dynamic clusters to run in automatic mode.
  9. Monitor the remote servers. See Enabling external monitoring with the remote agent for more information.
  10. Configure the runtime operations. See Enabling external monitoring with the remote agent for more information.
  11. Secure your environment and test your connection to the WebSphere Portal server. See the WebSphere Portal Information Center.
