With the runtime topology page, you can view and change your WebSphere
Extended Deployment environment. You can adjust configuration options to keep
informed of the activities occurring in the environment, and to make changes
based on the information yielded in the topology view and dynamic charting.
You can select from node group, application and service policy perspectives.
These perspectives determine which topology and charts display in the page.
Within the perspectives, you can choose to view all the information, or information
for a specific instance.
See Administrative roles and privileges
for
runtime topology.
Left-clicking an element in the topology opens a menu with options from
which you can choose. These options range from configuring or viewing server
logs and charting selected items, to stopping your server.
The runtime topology depicts a momentary state of an Extended Deployment
environment. Hovering over an underlined element provides information about
that element. This information refreshes on a configurable interval to help
with your decision making. You can view information such as:
- Application placement activity
- Deployment of dynamic cluster instances
- CPU usage per node
- Node to node-group memberships
- Dynamic cluster to node-group memberships
- Dynamic workload manager (dWLM) weight per application server instance
- Process ID per application server instance
- Location of autonomic controllers
- Server health status
- Transaction classes
- Work classes
You can also configure the visualization data service to provide log files
of the data gathered by the runtime topology. The runtime topology displays
where the autonomic controllers are running such as ARFM, placement, and health.
It also shows where the grid scheduler is running, if applicable.
Restriction: The
dWLM is a member of the default node group, but statistics are not available
for it.
