Installation arguments

Issue command-line arguments to customize and configure your product installation.

Command-line arguments

You can pass the following arguments during a command-line or options file installation of the product:

Argument Description Examples
-options <file_name> Passes the installer an options file, indicated by <file_name>, which the installer uses as the command-line arguments. This argument is typically used with a silent installation. Properties on the command line take precedence.
install.bat -options c:\drive_path\myoptionsfile.txt 
-P <bean_id.propertyName>=value Sets the property of a product bean, which is identified by the bean ID, to a specific value. This property is also used in the options file.
install.bat -P rootbean.installLocation=C:\install 
-W <bean_id.propertyName>=value Sets the property of a wizard bean, which is identified by the bean ID, to a specific value. This property is also used in the options file.
install.bat -W welcome.description="Welcome!" 
-silent Suppresses the GUI display and takes all input from the options file by using -options or the command line by using -W or -P. Otherwise, the default values are used.
install.bat -silent 
install.bat -silent -options myoptionsfile.txt 
-log #! <file_name> @<events> Generates an installation log file that logs the following specified event types:
  • err
  • wrn
  • msg1
  • msg2
  • dbg
  • ALL
install.bat -log # !c:\temp\logfiles.txt @ALL 
-is:log <file_name> Creates a log file, indicated by <file_name>, that contains the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) searches of the installer while attempting to launch the GUI. This log is not created unless specified.
install.bat -is:log c:\logs\javalog.txt 
-is:javaconsole Displays a console window during the installation process.
install.bat -is:javaconsole 
-is:silent Suppresses the Java initialization window that is typically displayed while initializing the installer.
install.bat -is:silent
-is:tempdir <directory> Defines the temporary directory that the installer uses.
install.bat -is:tempdir c:\temp
