By combining the WebSphere Extended Deployment and WebSphere Enterprise
Service Bus environments, the autonomic computing and dynamic operations features
of Extended Deployment can be applied to the applications that are running
in the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus.
Before you begin
Decide how you are going to apply WebSphere Extended Deployment to
WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus. This integration can be achieved in two
ways:
- By installing WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 on an existing
WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus Version 6.0.1 installation.
- By installing WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus Version 6.0.1 on an existing
WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 installation.
About this task
By applying WebSphere Extended Deployment to WebSphere Enterprise
Service Bus, you can create dynamic clusters and define service policies and
health policies to manage the applications in your WebSphere Enterprise Service
Bus environment. These policies lead to better use of the resources in your
configuration.
Procedure
- Option 1: Install WebSphere Extended Deployment on an existing
WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus installation.
- Install WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
If you are using z/OS, apply WebSphere Application
Server Network Deployment Version 6.0.2.9 or later to the WebSphere Enterprise
Service Bus installation. Apply the WebSphere Application Server fixes that
are required for WebSphere Extended Deployment. Depending on the WebSphere
Application Server level that you use, the required fixes differ. See Installation prerequisites
for more information.
If you are using distributed platforms, WebSphere Application
Server Network Deployment is supplied and installed as a part of the WebSphere
Enterprise Service Bus installation and does not need to be upgraded.
Set the ulimit value of file descriptors to 8192 or
higher. ulimit -n 8192
Set the ulimit value in the same
command window from which you install WebSphere Extended Deployment and augment
the deployment manager.
- Install WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.0.2 on all the
machines that have WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus is installed. See Installing the product
for more information.
- Augment the deployment manager profile and WebSphere Enterprise
Service Bus custom node profiles with the WebSphere Extended Deployment augmentation.
See Augmenting and unaugmenting an application server profile with the
WebSphere Extended Deployment templates
for
more information.
- Option 2: Install WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus on an
existing WebSphere Extended Deployment installation.
- Install WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus 6.0.1 on all the machines
that are running WebSphere Extended Deployment. See Installing WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus in
the IBM WebSphere Business Process Management Version 6.0 information center
for more information.
- Augment the deployment manager profile and Extended Deployment
node profiles with the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus augmentation.
See Augmenting an existing WebSphere Application
Server Network Deployment custom profile into a WebSphere ESB custom profile in
the IBM WebSphere Business Process Management Version 6.0 information center
for more information.
What to do next
Enable autonomic management of your WebSphere Enterprise Service
Bus applications by defining dynamic clusters, service policies, and health
policies for the application environment.
