WebSphere Extended Deployment, Version 6.0.x
Operating Systems: AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, Windows, z/OS

The partitioning facility

With the partitioning facility, WebSphere Extended Deployment can offer exceptional transaction processing support for financial, banking, reservation, online auctioning and gaming industries. Your enterprise can focus transactions in a highly available environment that provides excellent failover support.

High performance computing in WebSphere Extended Deployment uses the high availability manager and the partitioning facility. While these components are separate, the highly available infrastructure is part of the application partitioning ability of the partitioning facility

A typical application server HTTP request flow can contain bottlenecks when accessing a back-end resource. Requests for application resources send to the servers by the router evenly. The application servers process the work and send the transaction requests to the back-end databases, which is where bottleneck and performance losses can occur.

The partitioning facility can alleviate the bottlenecks that are likely to occur in environments that have high transaction volumes.
