By deploying applications to dynamic clusters, the requests that
are directed to the application can be managed autonomically. The dynamic
cluster can expand and contract depending on the needs of the dynamic operations
environment.
Before you begin
Verify that you have WebSphere® Extended Deployment running and have
access to an application for installation. Configure a dynamic cluster. You must have a node group and dynamic cluster that
are configured and associated with one another. You must know the specific
cell and dynamic cluster on which you want to deploy.
About this task
When you deploy your application to a dynamic cluster that is in
automatic mode, WebSphere Extended
Deployment can automatically control the size and placement of dynamic clusters
on the nodes, according to the business goals of your application.
Procedure
- Deploy the application to your dynamic cluster. In the
administrative console, click Applications > Install new application. For more information
on installing an application, read about Deploying
and administering applications.
Restriction: The application
name must be unique among all the applications that are deployed in the cell.
- When you reach the Map modules to application servers panel
in the wizard, map your application to the cell and dynamic cluster name,
or the deployment target, that is specific to your dynamic cluster.
- Complete the wizard panels and click Finish.
Results
You have deployed an application on a dynamic cluster that is capable
of supporting dynamic application placement.
What to do next
Define a service policy for the newly deployed application.
