This topic discusses the necessary installation of the WebSphere Application Server Deployment Manager, the On Demand Router (ODR) node, the WebSphere Portal node, additional WebSphere Portal nodes, and the optional database server node.
Be consistent when installing paths across nodes for an easier configuration. You are required to create the necessary system usernames before installing WebSphere Portal. Be consistent with the database usernames. Since WebSphere Portal uses several databases, use the same username for each. The addNode command may require a large JVM heap size. Increase the JVM heap size on either the WebSphere Application Server Deployment Manager or the WebSphere Application Server node. Install the DB2 client software on the WebSphere Application Server Deployment Manager, as well as any nodes on which WebSphere Portal is installed. All command prompts are listed in generic form. Add appropriate OS-level execution paths in order to use the prompts.
