WebSphere Extended Deployment and WebSphere Commerce sample topology

When WebSphere Application Server Extended Deployment is installed, another element called the on demand router (ODR) is added. The ODR dynamically routes incoming requests to the appropriate WebSphere Commerce nodes based upon available resources. The ODR also gathers statistics that are useful for intelligent health management and monitoring.

A typical clustered WebSphere Commerce environment consists of the following elements:
  • WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
  • Web server node, typically IBM HTTP Server
  • Database server, typically DB2
  • WebSphere Commerce Payments
  • WebSphere Commerce Server nodes
