This tutorial describes how to perform all the functions
that accompany application edition management. Use this for guidance the first
time you install an edition or rollout an edition.
Before you begin
Ensure that WebSphere Extended Deployment is installed and up to current
levels.
Privileges for the application edition manager differ, depending
on the various roles. Roles include monitor, operator, configurator, and administrator.
If you are a user with either a monitor or an operator role, you can only
view the application edition manager information. If you have the role of
configurator or administrator, you have all the configuration privileges for
the application edition manager.
About this task
This tutorial describes the following:
- Installing a first edition
- Activating an edition
- Rolling out an edition
- Activating concurrent editions
- Validating an edition
The configuration used for the development of this tutorial is
a four node WebSphere Extended Deployment cell with a single node group comprised
of three application server nodes, an on demand router, and two dynamic clusters
defined within that node group. The following are configuration definitions
for this tutorial:
- A network deployment cell comprised of nodes xdwas8Node01, xdwas8Node02, xdwas9Node01,
and xdwas9Node02.
- The deployment manager is separate and not represented in this description.
- Node group BTNG includes nodes xdwas8Node01, xdwas8Node02,
and xdwas9Node02.
- On demand router named ODR defined on node xdwas9Node01.
- Dynamic cluster named BTDC1 defined in node group BTNG.
- Dynamic cluster named BTDC2 defined in node group BTNG.
