4.9: Programming model for the Connector Architecture (J2C)

The Connector Architecture Specification (JCA Specification) is a standard architecture for integrating Java applications with existing enterprise information systems. The IBM WebSphere Application Server implementation is based on the Proposed Final Draft #2 version of the JCA Specification (http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/jsr_016_connect.html).

Much of the JCA Specification depends on knowledge of the Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) specification, versions 1.1 and 2.0, which are available at http://java.sun.com/products/ejb/.

This topic defines the functionality and capabilities of the current implementation of the Connector Architecture for WebSphere Application Server (technology preview) per the JCA Specification. This topic does not restate the JCA Specification.

Information in this topic has been structured so it maps to the JCA Specification.
