Preparing a Windows NT/2000 Java client environment for OLT and the IBM Distributed Debugger (CB)

To prepare a Windows Java client environment for tracing with OLT, do the following:

  1. Create a text file with the following entries:

com.ibm.CORBA.deferredBegin=never
com.ibm.CORBA.transactionTraceLevel=advanced
com.ibm.CORBA.EnableApplicationOLT=true

This file defines your Client Style and should be saved with a file extension of .prop, for example java2.prop. You will need to know the fully qualified name of this file when issuing the command that starts your Java client application.

Ensure that you include the following argument in the java command to point to your .prop file, for example:

-Dcom.ibm.CORBA.ClientStyleImageURL=file:/f:/mvs_test/IVP/JAVACLs/java2.prop

and add the following arguments to the java client command:

-Dcom.ibm.CORBA.EnableApplicationOLT=true -Dcom.ibm.CORBA.requestTimeout=0 -Dcom.ibm.CORBA.OLTApplicationHost=9.21.52.85 -Dcom.ibm.CORBA.OLTApplicationPort=2102 -DOLTClient=true

where OLTApplicationHost is the hostname or IP address of the machine where your OLT viewer is running.

  1. From a command line, issue the command appropriate for the level of the JDK, including the memory management specifiers for the JVM of your application.

java command for JDK 1.1.x, including -mx256m -ms30m -oss75m
java command for Java 2 platform, including -Xmx75m -Xms30m -Xoss75m

Your Windows NT/2000 Java client environment is ready for tracing with OLT.
