Installing Merant SequeLink for use with WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition and SQL Server Enterprise on Windows
This topic describes how to install Merant SequeLink for use with a single configuration
of WebSphere Application Server. A SequeLink driver comes complimentary with WebSphere
Application Server.
Prerequisite Conditions
These instructions assume the following prerequisite conditions:
- You have determined which software versions to use for this configuration
from the prerequisite software versions currently supported by IBM WebSphere Application
Server. For example, for a list of the supported versions of Microsoft SQL Server
Enterprise, see
"Software Prerequisites"
as the authoritative reference.
- You have installed IBM WebSphere Application Server, as well as the
supported Web server and database products that you plan to use for this configuration. For installation
instructions appropriate to your operating system and choice of prerequisites, see the "Operating
systems..." links on the Welcome page of the InfoCenter.
Steps for installation
To enable Merant for use with SQL Server Enterprise as the adminstrative database for
WebSphere Application Server, complete the following steps:
- Locate and enable the Merant SequeLink driver files, as described in
the WebSphere Application Server documentation pertaining to database drivers.
- Ensure that the .jar files sljc and sljcx, which compose the Merant SequeLink driver,
are both set in the CLASSPATH environment variable of the administrative server configuration file
before the Merant driver is used.
- Install the Merant SequeLink Server for SQL Server on the same machine as the
Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise database product with which you want to use the Merant driver. Perform
any configuration necessary to establish communications between the SQL Server Enterprise
database and the Merant SequeLink Server. Refer to your
Merant documentation
and "Installing the Merant SequeLink Server without a registration key"
for instructions.
Using SQL Server as the administrative repository
To use SQL Server as the WebSphere Application Server administrative
repository, ensure that you have the WebSphere Application Server database in your SQL Server.
To create the Enterprise Manager in SQL server, complete the following steps:
- Go to the Enterprise Manager in SQL server and create a user EJSADMIN
for the WebSphere Application Server database with password EJSADMIN and database
administrator privileges.
- Create a user EJB on this database with password EJB and administrative privileges.
The default server in WebSphere Application Server uses these users.
