0.27: What are path maps? (brief description)

A path map is a mapping of physical file system roots to symbolic names for the file system roots. Path maps provide a level of indirection so that absolute (physical) drive names are not stored in configuration data. The path map itself provides helpers to resolve path strings containing symbolic names into physical paths.

For example, the symbolic name ${APPINSTALL} can be mapped to the Windows physical path "C:\WebSphere\apps." The path map can also perform mappings in the opposite direction.
