InfoCenter Home > 1: Single machine topology
DiscussionIn this simplest of topologies, all components are installed on the machine containing the Web server. The Web server routes requests, as appropriate, to the WebSphere Application Server for processing. WebSphere Application Server stores configuration data in XML files. An application database might hold application data for applications that require a place to store data. Typical useThis configuration is most suitable for development, testing, and intranet environments where performance and security are not critical goals. InstructionsTo set up the single-machine configuration, perform the Typical installation. See Section 2 (installation) for detailed instructions pertaining to particular operating system and Web server choices. More complex sample topologiesYou can introduce workload management into the WebSphere Application Server environment by combining multiple WebSphere Application Server installations and an HTTP sprayer such as IBM Network Dispatcher. |
