Limiting the table of contents and search results

For maximum productivity, take advantage of the following features to limit the information that is displayed. The features operate on whole files - known as topics. They do not modify the content displayed within topics.

Focus the search results

Follow these steps to search just part of the table of contents (navigation tree).

  1. Click the Search scope: link on the information center border.

  2. Click New to open a dialog for specifying the subset of topics.

  3. Use the tree view to select the subset of topics to search.

  4. Give your selection a List name.

The OK button will remain grayed out until you provide a list name.

  4. Click OK to activate your filter configuration.

(For future reference, Reset restores the table of contents to its full contents).

The table of contents will display only sections that pertain to your filtering criteria, such as only the documentation sets containing content for i5/OS users. Some platform-product combinations will produce a blank table of contents, such as Express products for the z/OS platform.
