Installing a mediation application into WebSphere Application Server

Use this task to install a mediation application into WebSphere Application Server.

Before you begin

This task assumes that you have an enterprise application (EAR file) containing a mediation handler enterprise bean that can be deployed in WebSphere Application Server. You can use assembly tools to assemble enterprise applications (EAR files) for mediations, as described in the Application Server Toolkit information. For guidance on selecting the target application server for your mediation, see Considerations for installing a mediation.

Why and when to perform this task

You need to install your mediation application into available for mediating bus destinations. WebSphere Application Server In this task, you are installing an enterprise application (an EAR file) that contains a mediation handler enterprise bean project. For additional information about installing enterprise applications, see Installing application files with the console. For information about installing a secure mediation handler, see Deploying secured applications.

To install a mediation application, use the administrative console to complete the following steps.

Steps for this task

  1. In the navigation pane, click Applications > Install New Application. The first of two Preparing for the application installation pages is displayed.
  2. On the first page of Preparing for the application installation, specify the name of the EAR file. Select either a local or remote file system, and browse for the file or type its full path name, and click Next.
  3. On the second page of Preparing for the application installation, click Next to generate the default bindings.
  4. On the step Provide options to perform the installation, type the name of the mediation handler in the Application Name field, if not already specified, and click Next.
  5. On the step Provide JNDI Names for Beans, specify a JNDI name for your mediation handler in the JNDI Name field, and click Next.
  6. On the step Map modules to application servers select the target application server where you want to install the mediation application, and click Next.
  7. In the panel Ensure all unprotected 2.0 methods have the correct level of protection mark the unprotected 2.0 method as unchecked, and click Next.
  8. In the panel Provide options to perform the EJB deploy, click Next.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. Save your changes to the master configuration.
  11. Click Save.

Your mediation application is newly installed on WebSphere Application Server.
