Securing a WebSphere MQ link

Securing access between a service integration bus and a WebSphere MQ Queue Manager.

Before you begin

You should have chosen or created the local bus and foreign bus (WebSphere MQ network) and created a WebSphere MQ link.

Why and when to perform this task

This task summarizes the significant tasks to secure the link between a local bus and a WebSphere MQ network. For more general information about service integration bus security, see Service integration bus security.

Steps for this task

  1. Enable security on the service integration bus and the foreign bus representing the WebSphere MQ network. See Enabling and disabling messaging security.
  2. Secure the link between the buses - see Securing connections to a WebSphere MQ network.
  3. Grant access to the local bus for users who will be sending messages to the foreign bus - see Enabling and disabling messaging security.
  4. Grant access to the foreign bus for users who will be sending messages to it - see Administering foreign bus roles through the command line.
  5. Optional: Give users access to foreign or alias destinations that will forward messages to a foreign bus - see Administering destination roles through the command line.
