Creating a policy for messaging engines

Use this task to create a policy for your messaging engine, or engines, to control its high availability behavior.

Why and when to perform this task

A policy is a component of a core group. A core group can have a number of different policies; each policy applies to a particular HAGroup and determines the high availability behavior of resources in that group. For service integration, the resources that you want to control are the messaging engines.

To create a policy for a messaging engine, use the administrative console to perform the following steps:

Steps for this task

  1. Open the Policy page by clicking Servers > Core groups > Core group settings > core_group_name [Content Pane] > Configuration > Policies.
  2. Click New.
  3. From the Policy type list, click one of the following policy types. Only these policy types are applicable to service integration:
    Static
Used to disallow failover in a WebSphere cluster.
    One of N
Used to provide failover in a WebSphere cluster.
    No operation
For use with an external high availability cluster.
  4. If required, configure the policy by using the topic Configuring a policy for messaging engines.
  5. Save your changes to the master configuration.
