Configuring a WebSphere MQ link

This topic summarizes the sequence and options available when you configure a WebSphere MQ link.

Why and when to perform this task

The WebSphere MQ link allows point-to-point messages to be exchanged, and publication and subscription requests to be sent between a WebSphere Application Server and a WebSphere MQ network.

Use the administrative console to configure a WebSphere MQ link on a service integration bus. The sequence of definitions is:

Steps for this task

  1. Choose or create the bus that will include the messaging engine where you intend to define the WebSphere MQ link, and then choose or create the messaging engine.
  2. Choose or create the foreign bus that will represent the WebSphere MQ network.
  3. Define the WebSphere MQ link. This task includes steps to name the sender and receiver channels and protocol, see Defining a WebSphere MQ link. You may define one channel if your WebSphere MQ link is to be one-way.
  4. Secure access between the service integration bus and the WebSphere MQ network - see Securing a WebSphere MQ link
  5. Define the profiles of the brokers Defining a publish/subscribe broker profile, and the topic mappings Defining topic mappings that will allow publication and subscription with a broker in the WebSphere MQ network.

A sample configuration showing a systems view of the setup for a WebSphere MQ link is available, see WebSphere MQ link sample configuration.

Once you have configured the WebSphere MQ link you can exchange messages with a WebSphere MQ network.
