Setting up Version 6.0.x coexistence

You can install a Version 6.0.x product to coexist with concurrent Version 6.0.x profiles.

Before you begin

After installing the WebSphere Application Server product, you can install it again on the same machine.

About this task

Select the new installation option from the installation wizard panel, to install a new instance instead of adding features to the last installation, and to install into a separate profile directory.

Each installation of the product installs the core product files.

You can install once and use the Profile creation wizard to create multiple application server processes. See Creating profiles through the graphical user interface for more information about creating multiple server instances.

Use the following procedure to install multiple copies of the core product files.

Procedure

  1. Use the installation wizard to install another set of the core product files, as described in Installing the product and additional software .
  2. Create additional server processes, using the procedure described in Creating profiles through the graphical user interface .
  3. If you have a node that you cannot start because of port conflicts, change port assignments to nonconflicting ports in configuration files by editing the profile_name\config\cells\cell_name\nodes\node_name\serverindex.xml file.
