Controlling which messaging engines can join a bus

Use this task to control which messaging engines are allowed to join a bus. When messaging security is enabled, it is important that only authorized messaging engines are allowed to join a bus.

Why and when to perform this task

To control which messaging engines can create a connection to a given messaging engine complete the following steps:

Steps for this task

  1. Set the Inter-engine authentication alias property to prevent unauthorized clients or messaging engines from establishing a connection, see Configuring bus properties.
  2. If you are using mediations, set the Mediations authentication alias property to specify a user ID and password for mediations that access the bus, see Securing mediations.
  3. If you require extra security, configure the SSL certificate stores to restrict who can make an SSL connection, and hence join the bus. For more information see ../../com.ibm.websphere.express.doc/info/exp/ae/tsec_ssl.html.
