Configuring ports

This topic discusses configuring ports, particularly in coexistence scenarios.

Steps for this task

  1. Review the port number settings, especially when you are planning to coexist.

See Port number settings in WebSphere Application Server versions for reference information for identifying port numbers used by present and past product versions.

  2. Optional: Change the port number settings.

During installation, you can use the Installation wizard described in Installing the product and additional software.

You can set port numbers when configuring the product after installation. See the Profile creation wizard description in Using the Profile creation wizard.

After installation, edit the profiles_install_root/profile_name/config/cells/cell_name/nodes/node_name/serverindex.xml file to change the port settings, or use scripting to change the values. See Setting port numbers kept in the serverindex.xml file using scripting for more information.
