Map resource environment references to resources

Use this page to view and modify how the resource environment references of client application modules and Web modules map to resources that are configured for the application.

To view this administrative console page, click Applications > Enterprise Applications > application_name > Map resource environment references to resources.

Guidelines for using this administrative console page:

Each row of the table depicts a resource environment reference within a specific module of your application. You can see how the reference maps to a resource that is configured as a resource environment entry for your application.

You can modify your mappings individually. Modifying them through the Apply multiple mappings section ensures accuracy. Because this procedure relieves you from typing Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) names into the input fields, it prevents you from making mistakes that can incur run-time errors.

To modify mappings individually:
  1. Select a row to edit.
  2. Highlight and delete the Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) name of the resource environment entry that you no longer want to specify as the mapping target.
  3. Type the JNDI name of the new mapping target.
  4. Repeat the previous steps for each configuration that you want to change.
  5. Click OK. You now return to the general configuration page for your enterprise application.
Alternatively, expand the Apply multiple mappings section and follow these steps:
  1. Select one or more rows to edit. If you select multiple rows, the configured resource that you choose as the new mapping target is bound to every resource environment reference in your selection.
  2. From the drop-down list, select the Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) name of the resource environment entry that you want to designate as the new mapping target.
  3. Click Apply, and click OK to return to the general configuration page for your enterprise application.

Module

The name of a module in the application.

EJB

URI

When resolved relative to the application Uniform Resource Locator (URL), the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) specifies the location of the module archive contents on a file system.

Reference binding

The name of a resource environment reference that is declared in the deployment descriptor of the application module. The reference corresponds to a resource that is bound as a resource environment entry into the JNDI name space of the application server.
