Starting a mediation

Use this task to start a selected mediation at a mediation point.

Before you begin

Before you can operate a mediation, it must be associated with a destination. For more information, see Mediating a destination.

Why and when to perform this task

You start a mediation when you want the mediation to start mediating messages. The mediation point is a specialized message point on the destination. All run-time operations on mediations are carried out at selected mediation points.
Tip: To ensure that the mediation starts processing a specific message, remove existing messages from the mediation point before you start the mediation. For more information, see Deleting messages on a mediation point.

To start a mediation, use the administrative console to complete the following steps:

Steps for this task

  1. Display the mediation you want to start:
    1. In the navigation pane, click Service integration > Buses
    2. In the content pane, click the name of the service integration bus.
    3. Under Additional Properties, click Messaging Engines.
    4. Click the messaging engine name.
    5. Under Additional Properties, click Mediation Points.
    6. In the content pane, select the mediation name.
  2. Click Start.
The mediation starts processing messages mediation point that arrive at the mediation point.
