Before you begin
There are RRS version requirements that you must heed when using peer restart and recovery. For more information on these requirements, please see z/OS MVS Programming: Resource RecoveryWhy and when to perform this task
If you receive the console message:
BBOO0287A SERVER IS STARTING OUT OF PLACE AT MIXED PTF LEVELS. REPLY CONTINUE OR CANCEL
Note: If startup is attempted and fails, the transactions needing to be recovered are now associated with the peer system, and RRS must be stopped on that system before these transactions can be moved back to the failed system.
If you receive the console message:
BBOT0015D OTS UNABLE TO RESOLVE ALL INCOMPLETE TRANSACTIONS FOR SERVER string. REPLY CONTINUE OR TERMINATE.
The following non-console messages, which can be used to trigger automation, provide details about daemon activities when attempting restart and recovery:
Pay particular attention to the URID, XID FormatId, XID Gtrid and XIDBqual attributes. These pieces of information will be used to manually resolve the relevant units of work via the RRS panels.
