[5.0 only]Using Apache SOAP Web services in Version 5.0 and 5.0.1

Before you begin

This topic describes how to use Apache SOAP 2.3 support for WebSphere Application Server Version 5.0 and 5.01. This support is deprecated. If you are planning a new Web services project, it is recommended that you develop and implement Web services based on the Web Services for Java 2 platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) specification.

Version 5.02 introduces development and implementation of Web services based on Web Services for J2EE and Java API for XML-based remote procedure call (JAX-RPC). It is recommended that you develop and implement Web services based on the Web Services for J2EE specification.

You can find more information about working with Web services developed based on the Java technology by visiting the Internet sites listed in Web services: Resources for learning.
