[Version 5.0.2]InstallEE50 command

The InstallEE50 command installs additional Enterprise V5.0.0 features after installing interim fixes, Fix Pack 1, or Fix Pack 2.

When installing additional Enterprise V5.0.0 features on top of an Enterprise V5.0.1 or V5.0.2 system, some V5.0.1 or V5.0.2 components can be regressed to the V5.0.0 level.

Using the InstallEE50 command avoids the regression problem.

If you performed the following steps, you might have a problem:

  1. Install Enterprise V5 but do not install all features.
  2. Install interim fixes or one or more fix packs (for example, Enterprise 5.01 or Enterprise 5.02).
  3. Install additional Enterprise V5 features.

If you have already installed additional Enterprise V5.0.0 features on top of Enterprise V5.0.1 or V5.0.2, or on top of interim fixes you have applied, see The patch command.

Stop all Java processes on the machine that use the IBM Developer Kit that WebSphere Application Server provides: Before using the InstallEE50 command, stop all Java processes on the machine that use the IBM Developer Kit that WebSphere Application Server provides to support the Java 2 SDK on your operating system platform, such as the IBM Developer Kit for AIX, Java Technology Edition. Stop all application server processes, the nodeagent process, the deployment manager process, and all server processes, such as the jmsserver process. Features with server processes include the IBM HTTP Server and the embedded messaging feature. Stop all Java processes, if necessary. If you use the patcher while a WebSphere Application Server-related Java process runs, IBM does not guarantee that the product can continue to run successfully or without error.

Remove the WebSphere MQ tray icon if present On a Windows platform, remove the WebSphere MQ tray icon if it is present. The WebSphere MQ tray icon in the lower right corner indicates that a WebSphere MQ process (amqmtbrn.exe) is running. Right click the tray icon and click Hide to remove it.

Do not launch multiple copies of the patcher at one time The patcher cannot be launched concurrently with itself. Performing more than one update at the same time can lead to a failed or faulty installation.

Installation roots
The variable install_root represents the root directory for WebSphere Application Server. By default, this varies per product and operating system:

  • Base WebSphere Application Server product:
    • AIX platforms: /usr/WebSphere/AppServer
    • Other UNIX and Linux platforms: /opt/WebSphere/AppServer
    • Windows platforms: drive\Program Files\WebSphere\AppServer
  • Network Deployment product:
    • AIX platforms: /usr/WebSphere/DeploymentManager
    • Other UNIX and Linux platforms: /opt/WebSphere/DeploymentManager
    • Windows platforms: drive\Program Files\WebSphere\DeploymentManager
  • Enterprise product that extends the base product:
    • AIX platforms: /usr/WebSphere/AppServer
    • Other UNIX and Linux platforms: /opt/WebSphere/AppServer
    • Windows platforms: drive\Program Files\WebSphere\AppServer
  • Enterprise product that extends the Network Deployment product
    • AIX platforms: /usr/WebSphere/DeploymentManager
    • Other UNIX and Linux platforms: /opt/WebSphere/DeploymentManager
    • Windows platforms: drive\Program Files\WebSphere\DeploymentManager

Command name
InstallEE50 and InstallEE50.bat, which are command-line interfaces to the install executable.

Prerequisite environment settings

The JAVA_HOME environment setting. Set the environment variable or issue the appropriate command script, from the /bin directory of the installation root:

  • . install_root/bin/setupCmdLine.sh (source the command on UNIX platforms)
  • source install_root/bin/setupCmdLine.sh (source the command on Linux platforms )
  • install_root\bin\setupCmdLine.bat (Windows platforms only)
  • . install_root/bin/setupClient.sh (source the command for the Application Server client)
  • source install_root/bin/setupClient.sh (Linux platforms only)
  • install_root\bin\setupClient.bat (Windows platforms only)

Using the InstallEE50 command

To use the InstallEE50 command:

  1. Obtain the InstallEE50 command by downloading and unpacking Fix Pack 2 from the Support site onto the system where you have the Enterprise product installed. For example, download and unpack Fix Pack 2 to a temporary location (such as /tmp/EE_FixPack2 on UNIX or c:\temp\EE_FixPack2 on Windows). The InstallEE50 command is also part of the update installer ZIP file on the Support site. (The update installer program is also known as the updateInstaller program or the update installation wizard.)
  2. Insert the Enterprise product V5.0.0 CD-ROM.
  3. Change directories to /cdrom drive/platform, where platform is the operating system you have installed.
  4. Open a command window and use the appropriate script to begin installing additional V5.0.0 Enterprise features from the V5.0.0 CD-ROM.

    [5.0 only][Version 5.0.1][Version 5.0.2]Linux for S/390 platforms:

    /tmp/EE_FixPack2/patcher/InstallEE50.sh

    [5.0 only][Version 5.0.1][Version 5.0.2]Other Linux and UNIX platforms:

    /tmp/EE_FixPack2/patcher/InstallEE50

    Windows platforms:

    c:\temp\EE_FixPack2\patcher\InstallEE50.bat

  5. Install all additional Enterprise V5.0.0 features that you require.
  6. Reapply fix packs and interim fixes to update the V5.0.0 features to the current level.

Issuing installation command parameters without the InstallEE50 script

Follow these steps to install Enterprise V5.0.0 features on top of Enterprise V5.0.x by issuing the install command with the same parameters that the InstallEE50 command provides.

  1. Insert the Enterprise V5.0.0 CD-ROM on the system that has Enterprise V5.0.x installed.
  2. Change directories to cdrom_drive\platform, where platform is the operating system you have installed.
  3. Run one of the following commands, depending on which platform you are running:
