Why and when to perform this task
The dynamic cache service works within an application server Java virtual machine (JVM), intercepting calls to cacheable objects. For example, it intercepts calls through a servlet service() method or a command execute() method, and either stores the output of the object to, or serves the content of the object from the dynamic cache.WebSphere Application Server, Version 4.0, supported the configuration of dynamic servlet caching through the servletcache.xml file. To utilize the new and improved functionality of the dynamic cache service, configure your cache policy using the cachespec.xml format. See Configuring cacheable objects with the cachespec.xml file for more information.
The dynamic caching documentation provides you with the following tasks to enable and configure the dynamic cache service, as well as advanced features, such as controlling external caches and building user-defined drop-in components to customize the cache operation.
