Assembling or packaging

Assembling is an activity in which you package code components into "modules" that comply with the J2EE specification. You define configurations for the modules, in the form of XML documents known as deployment descriptors. See also Welcome to Assembly tools.

After you assemble modules into a main module called an application module or EAR file, you are ready to deploy the application module onto the application server.
