[Version 5.0.2 and later]Enabling WebSphere Business Integration Adapter sessions

Why and when to perform this task

Before starting a WebSphere Business Integration Adapter (WBIA) session, you must first ensure that the WebSphere MQ JMS Provider is configured correctly. You do not have to add any new information to enable WBIA support. Install and configure the Websphere MQ JMS Provider in the usual manner as documented in article, Installing WebSphere MQ as the JMS Provider.

To install and configure WBIA session support, complete the following steps:

Steps for this task

  1. Create a new WebSphere MQ Queue Connection Factory.
  2. Update the following fields in the new WebSphere MQ Queue Connection Factory to enable WBIA support:
    Name
This is a required field. Enter a user-defined value.
    JNDI Name
This is a required field. Enter a user-defined value.
    Description
    This is an optional field.
    Category
    This is an optional field.
    Component-managed Authentication Alias
Enter a value for this field if you have Global Security enabled on your WebSphere server, and you want to assign a password and userid when you make the connection to the MQ Queue Connection Factory. If you use this field, you must first create an alias, which then appears in this drop-down list. You create the alias by traversing the following path in the administrative console:

Security > JAAS Configuration > J2C Authentication Data > New

Then enter an alias name, userid, and password. Select an existing Component-managed Authentication Alias if you want the WBIA management function to use the userid and password specified in the alias when using this WebSphere MQ Queue Connection Factory.
    Container-managed Authentication Alias
This field does not affect authentication for the WBIA resource.

Update the remaining fields in the WebSphere MQ Queue Connection Factory in the same manner as for general JMS support.

  3. Create new WebSphere MQ Queue destinations.

You must create two new MQ Queue destinations, one for the WBIA AdminIn Queue and another for the WBIA AdminOut Queue. These two queues must be unique for each WBIA resource. These queues process the adminstrative commands that flow between WebSphere Application Server and the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter.

Do not confuse the AdminIn and AdminOut queues when you create the destinations. The WBIA resource represents the remote WBIA connector process so the names you specify must reflect the WBIA adapter. The AdminIn queue is the queue on which WebSphere Application Server places outgoing adminstrative messages that are read by the WBIA adapter. The AdminOut queue is the queue on which WebSphere Application Server listens for responses to the administrative messages.

  4. Update the following fields in the new WebSphere MQ Queue destinations.
    Name
This is a required field. Enter a user-defined value.
    JNDI Name
This is a required field. Enter a user-defined value.
    Persistence
Do not change the default setting, which is APPLICATION DEFINED.
    Priority
Do not change the default setting, which is APPLICATION DEFINED.
    Specified Priority
If the Priority field is set to APPLICATION DEFINED, then the value in this field does not apply.
    Expiry
Do not change the default setting, which is APPLICATION DEFINED.
    Specified Expiry
If the Expiry field is set to APPLICATION DEFINED, then the value in this field does not apply.
    Base Queue Name
This is a required field. Enter the name of the WebSphere MQ queue.

Update the remaining fields in the WebSphere MQ Queue destinations in the same manner as for general JMS support.

  5. Configure the WBIA resource.
    1. Expand the Resources category in the administrative console.
    2. Select WebSphere Business Integration Adapter and click New to configure the resource.
    3. Complete the required fields, and select the applicable WebSphere MQ Queue Connection Factory and WebSphere MQ Destinations from the drop-down lists.

After you click Apply or OK, WebSphere Application Server creates a new WBIA resource.

  6. Start the WBIA service.
