Problem(Abstract) |
This technote explains how to add paths to the Web
Container Classpath through the Administrative Console. |
|
Resolving the
problem |
You can use either of the following navigation paths in
the Administration Console to add paths to a Web container's CLASSPATH:
- Select Servers > Application Servers >
server_name > Process Definition > Java™ Virtual
Machine.
- On the Java Virtual Machine panel, enter the additional path
into the Classpath field. This adds the path to the front of the
existing values on the server_region_classpath property in the
was.env file. These classes are then added to the JVM classloader, which
is the parent of all classloaders.
- Select Environment > Manage WebSphere variables.
- On the IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Variables panel,
select New. On the New panel, enter WAS_EXT_DIRS for name
and set the value to your_path_nameand select Apply. This
adds the WAS_EXT_DIRS variable to the was.env file, and the classes
to a child classloader of the JVM classloader.
The following related URL provides a discussion of the implications of
this parent/child classloader relationship. |
