![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Customer has two servers where the difference in names is only in the uppercase and lowercase characters. eg: server1 & SeRvEr1 when the admin console " logs and trace " is used to set a trace spec for one of those two servers and that spec is saved it will show up incorrectly when viewed by the admin console "logs and trace". It will either show up in both servers or neither server when viewed from the admin console " logs and trace " display depending on which of the two servers you made the entry under. . To recreate: 1) create two servers where the case is the only difference in their names. eg: server1 and SeRvEr1 2) from the admin console "logs and trace" select SeRvEr1 and set any trace spec eg: com.ibm.*=all=enabled 3) save the trace spec 4) from the admin console "logs and trace" select SeRvEr1 again to review the value you just saved and it will appear correct 5) from the admin console "logs and trace" select server1 which you have not changed. It now shows the trace spec entered for the other server. 6) repeat this for server1 by entering a value at the server1 trace spec and save. The value will not show up in either server when viewed from the admin console "logs and trace" . Initial review of the problem showed that although the values appear incorrect in the admin console "logs and trace" display the server.xml files for all servers involved contain the correct values. So this is a cosmetic error when displaying the values, the servers are actually using the proper valuesLocal fix HBCProblem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Administrative Console displays * * the diagnostic trace settings * * incorrectly for servers with the * * same name, different character case. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When navigating to Troubleshooting-> Logs and Traces on the Administrative Console in an environment containing servers with the same name but different character case (ie, server1 and SERVER1), selecting one of these servers to display its diagnostic trace setting may be displayed incorrectly in the diagnostic trace panel of the server.Problem conclusion The Administrative Console Diagnostic Trace Settings Panel has been modified to display the correct settings regardless of case.
