![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Customer is porting an application from Distributed to zOS WebSphere . The application reads the java property user.dir and writes logs to the directory specified. This works on the WebSphere distributed platform. Fails on the zOS platform. The customer attempts to set this user.dir value using the AdminConsole : Servers > Application Serrvers > server_name > Process Definition > and setting the "Working directory" field to the given value. This results in user.dir being set correctly. This same process does NOT set user.dir in the zOS platform. This APAR was taken to cause zOS to have the same behavior as the distributed platform.Local fix set property -Duser.dir. Using the AdminConsole: server > process definitions > servant process > java virtual machine Then set user.dir=<directory specification>Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the customer sets the Working * * Directory field in the Java Virtual * * Machine panel, * * AppServers -> <server> -> Process * * Definition -> <servant> * * -> Java Virtual Machine. * * The working directory is not set. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The working directory needs to result in the Java property -Duser.dir=XXX being set. This required an additional transformation.Problem conclusion Support was modified to pull working directory from the XML and create the -Duser.dir=XXX JVM arguement. APAR PQ76562 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W500104 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
