Error description A "gethostbyaddr" failure can occur with multiple TCPIP stacks and if the "HTTP Transport host name" needs to configured (via Customization Dialogs). Error that can be seen are: BBOO0040E Function gethostbyaddr failed with RV=0, RC=1, RSN=00000000, ■EDC5001I A domain error occurred. You may see requests coming into the HTTP transport port (non-SSL) through the wrong IP stack. The fix for this apar will only affect the "HTTP transport host name" which needs to be configured for multiple TCPIP stacks. It will not affect the "ORB Listener host name".Local fix None. You can only use Single IP stack with "HTTP transport host name".Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Control region fails to initialize * * after a gethostbyaddr failure. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In initializing the http transport a gethostbyaddr failure causes the control region to fail with message BBOO0040E Function gethostbyaddr failed with RV=0, RC=1, RSN=00000000, EDC5001I A domain error occurred.Problem conclusion The HTTP Transports will no longer try to resolve the local hostname at initialization.
