The J2C Connection Manager does validity checking when it
binds a ConnectionFactory into the JNDI name space. Part of that
checking is to make sure that the preferred authentication
mechanism specified for the ConnectionFactory is valid. In the
case where "None" is specified, the validity check processing
defaults the preferred authentication mechanism to
BasicPassword. Validity check processing then searchs the
deployment descriptor properties of the resource adapter
associated with the ConnectionFactory to check that the adapter
supports BasicPassword authentication. In the case of resource
adapters that don't support a particular authentication
mechanism, the check for BasicPassword fails and thus results in
a J2CA0104 error and Exception being issued.
Problem conclusion
The validity checking done by Connection Management JNDI
processing will be changed so that Resource Adapters
that do not specify an authentication mechanism will not be
expected to support "BasicPassword" when "None" is specified as
the preferred authentication mechanism.
