![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Intermittently, customers may experience unexplained 404 'Not Found' errors at the browser when using the v5 HTTP plugin for IHS on z/OS. A plugin trace of the failure will show that a request was sent to the J2EE transport, but the connection was reset due to a timer popping (generally, the keep-alive timer). This causes the request to be resent. The newly sent request will appear garbled in the trace, because the code attempts to translate it again from EBCDIC to ASCII.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: unexplained 404 'Not Found' * * errors at the browser when using the * * IBM HTTP plugin for IHS on z/OS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Intermittently, customers may experience unexplained 404 'Not Found' errors at the browser when using the IBM HTTP plugin for IHS on z/OS. A plugin trace of the failure will show that a request was sent to the J2EE transport, but the connection was reset. This causes the request to be resent. The newly sent request will appear garbled in the trace, because the code attempts to translate it again from EBCDIC to ASCII.Problem conclusion The plugin code is modified to avoid double EBCDIC-to-ASCII translation. The code is also modified to add missing EBCDIC-to-ASCII translation for the Expect: 100-Continue header and ASCII-to-EBCDIC translation for the response to the header.
