Error description
When running the BBOXMIG3 job, the following problems may
be encountered:
.
Job BBOXMIG3 fails in step 7 with:
*IEFACTRT* J=NBTUVP81,S=(007, .MIGRAT ),RCODE=2048
IEF196I *IEFACTRT* J=NBTUVP81,S=(007, .MIGRAT ),RCODE=2048
.
In the 'migrate3.out' file, you see java stack traces, for
java.io.FileNotFoundException: for the following 9 files:
.
which are symbolic links in directory:
$WAS_HOME/DeploymentManager/properties/version/
 (where $WAS_HOME example is "/WebSphere/V5R0M0")
.
 to $INSTALL_ROOT/properties/version/
  (where $INSTALL_ROOT is "/usr/lpp/zWebSphere/V5R0M0")
.
The link exists in the $WAS_HOME../.. but the actual files
DO NOT exist in the $INSTALL_ROOT../..
.
All 9 files have the same EDC5129I message after them:
(EDC5129I No such file or directory.)
.
 9 files are:
 prereq.cddoc.client.component
 prereq.cddoc.component
 prereq.cddoc.nd.component
 prereq.cts.component
 prereq.ihs.component
 prereq.messaging.component
 prereq.mqfixpack.component
 prereq.samp.webservices.component
 websphere.jar.component
.
The actual shell script that fails is "WASPreUpgrade.sh"
Local fix
The local fix is to manually go into the $WAS_HOME directory
$WAS_HOME/DeploymentManager/properties/version/ directory
and DELETE the symbolic link for each of the 9 files listed.
This is not a problem, since the symbolic link points to a
non-existent file in the $INSTALL_ROOT/properties/version/
directory.

* USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server *
*                 V5.0 for z/OS                                *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The contents of $WAS_HOME/properties/ *
* version/ does not match the contents *
* of the SMP/E installation root after *
*                      applying service.                       *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
The contents of $WAS_HOME/properties/version/ does not match the
contents of the SMP/e installation root after applying service.
The post installer is supposed to synchronize the symbolic
links between the $WAS_HOME version directory and the SMP/E
installation root every time post installer service is applied.
Problem conclusion
Restructure the symbolic link synchronization code in the post
installer support.
