![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Post install job step, applyPTF.sh, takes too much CPU time when there is no work to do. It must work faster. A new algorithm is needed for this post install job step. A fix is needed to increase performance of the post installer job step. MD18034Local fix Please consider reclassifying using the WLM Workload Classification for OMVS work. Refer to techdoc for details: http://www.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex /FLASH10243Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Slow server startup performance when * * using the new post installer server * * procs. This internal defect addresses * * the APAR PQ79029. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When the post installer shipped in W500104, a new multi-step server proc was introduced to call the post installer before starting the server. The time to start a server has increased because of the new processing that occurs.Problem conclusion Support was modified to reduce the number of instructions that are run by the post installer step of the proc to help improve server startup times. This improvement will only be noticable after the server has been restarted at least one time after applying or rolling back service. Also see APAR PQ78525 for more information on reclassifiying the BPXBATCH step of the new server procs for additional performance benefits. APAR PQ79029 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W501002 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
