Error description When an EAR file with multiple WAR files is initializing, and ServletContext objects are requested in the init methods of servlets in the application, the application server may hang indefinitely on startup.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere Application Server for z/OS * * hangs during initialization when * * running customer application. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When deploying an EAR file which has multiple WAR files which use the ServletContext object during initialization, the server hangs indefinitely and never returns due to a deadlock.Problem conclusion The code was modified to start the webapp initialization thread earlier to eliminate possible synchronization deadlock during servlet initialization. APAR PK23179 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W502040 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
