![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description This APAR addresses defects in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: APAR PQ78452 addresses various defects * * in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 * * for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** APAR PQ78452 addresses the following defects in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS: (MD17093) Reload Interval Field of Application Install allows any value to be entered, rather than just integers. There is no validation code to ensure the values entered are infact integers. Validation was added during installation of an Application and also later when the value is modified through the Administrative Console. (MD17110) The product datasets allocations and the HFS directories have changed since the product was first released. The sample jobs need to be updated to reflect these changes. (MD17146.2) Customers have requested the ability to protect data flowing between the client and the daemon with SSL. This item provides that ability. (MD17226) Requests for servlet URIs issued through the HTTP Plugin that have an appended querystring will be forwarded, by the plugin, to the Application Server with the querystring appended twice. A servlet request that also contains a querystring and is issued via the HTTP Plugin will be forwarded from the plugin to the Application Server with the querystring appended to the URI twice. For example, if the original request is: GET /myapp/hello?parm1=1 HTTP/1.1 The URL that will be forwarded from the plugin to the Application Server will be: GET /myapp/hello?parm1=1?parm1=1 HTTP/1.1 Servlet requests that are issued via the HTTP Plugin but do not contain a querystring are not affected by this problem. (MD17389) References to PMI need to be added administrtive console since PMI is now supported. (MD17439.1) Support is need to add a new panel to the administrative console. Add a new link "z/OS Location Service" under the "System Administration" category in the navigation tree. A click on the link leads to a new "Location Service Daemon" panel to config the location service daemon. This defect is to change the minimun number allowed for daemon port and the SSL port from 0 to 1. (MD17441) JMX should not allow user MBeans to be created in a deployment manager or application server control process. (A user MBean is an MBean in which the platform keyword is not specified in the descriptor file for the MBean). A dynamic proxy is automatically created in a control region when a user MBean is registered in an associated servant process. (MD17466) Storage overlay can occur whe large IIOP messages are received. When a large message is received, if it does not fit in the re-usable thread buffer, a new buffer is obtained for this message. The original buffer is released back into the heap, however the code does not forget about the buffer and may attempt to continue using it. A large message is one greater than 64K in length. (MD17510) In administrative console on z/OS, bootstrap and orb listener address must always have the same port number. This is not enforced. Navigate to: End Points collection view of any server (Deployment Manager, Node Agent, Aplication Server, JMS Server, etc ). The bootstrap and the orb listener address must always have the same port number. When user changes bootstrap port, the orb listener port must also be changed to the same port number, and vice versa. (MD17517) A SubtransactionUnavailable exception is thrown when a stateful bean implementing the SessionSynchronization interface calls an EJB deployed with a TxRequired or TxRequiresNew transaction attribute. The transaction service failed to break the thread/trasaction association during the afterCompletion phase of a transaction. Although complete, the transaction was still logically active. This logically active transaction would cause a SubtransactionsAvailable exception to be thrown when the EJB container attempted to start a global transaction during afterCompletion.Problem conclusion APAR PQ78452 fixes various defects in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS. (MD17093) Added validation code to ensure values set are appropriate for the reload interval. (MD17110) BBOMKDIR has been changed to add additional directories introduced into the WebSphere V5.0 product. BBOALLOC has been updated to increase the size of libraries SBBOLOAD, SBBOMIG, ABBOINC, ABBOMSG, ABBOOBJ, ABBOPLIB, ABBOSLIB, ABBOPJPN, ABBOSLB2, and ABBOANT. (MD17146.2) Support has been provided which allows client and daemon to exchange data using SSL. (MD17226) While the plugin is processing the request, the querystring is added to the forwarded request at two different spots in the code. The unneeded code has been deleted. (MD17389) PMI reference have been added to the Administrative console. (MD17439.1) Support has been provided which adds the new link "z/OS Location Service" under the "System Administration" category in the navigation tree. The new link will lead to a new "Location Service Daemon" panel which allows the configuration for 5 required fields: jobName, hostname, port, sslPort, and sslSettings. The minimun number allowed for daemon port and the SSL port is set to 1. (MD17441) JMX was modified to not allow user MBeans to be registered in a deployment manager or application server control process. (User MBeans can be registered in a node agent control process.) (MD17466) Support has been modified to recognize the buffer had been released and properly obtain a new one. (MD17510) Support has been modified such that when the Apply or OK button is clicked in the Named End Point Detail view, the action class now checks if the end point displayed in the view is either the bootstrap address or the orb listener address. If it is the case, the port mumber of the two address will be set to the same port number and the following warning message will be displayed: "The port number of the bootstrap and the orb listener must be the same. The change made to the port mumber in this view has caused the port number to change for both the bootstrap and the orb listener." (MD17517) The thread/transaction association is now broken for the duration of a transaction's afterCompletion phase. This change results in the appropriate behavior for stateful beans implementing the SessionSynchronization interface. APAR PQ78452 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W501000 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
