Error description
The customer had activated WebSphere's SMF 120 record collection
for J2EE Container Intervals. While running normally, the
controller region for the servant encountered an S0C4 with the
following traceback:

Examination of the dump shows that we're attempting to move 0x20
bytes of data very far past the end of the buffer that we
obtained to contain the data.
Local fix
Turn off SMF 120 record recording.

Problem conclusion
The ABEND0C4/ABENDS0C4 was caused by an overflow of the SMF
logical record buffer. The record buffer was too small to
handle new data, and the algorithm that increased the buffer
size did not obtain enough storage to handle the unexpectedly
large amount of new data. The ABEND0C4/ABENDS0C4 occurred
when the new data overflowed the newly obtained buffer.

This overflow may not immediately cause an ABEND0C4/ABENDS0C4,
but could be the root cause of an ABEND due to storage overlay
at some point subsequent to the overflow.

The algorithm was corrected to obtain enough storage to handle
an arbitrarily large amount of new data.
