![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description After migrating from V5.1 to V6.0, customers may notice a ClassNotFoundException on the class: com.ibm.ws.runtime.component.SystemMessageServerImpl . This appears in the Control region output during startup. The server starts up fine and no external symptoms were noticed. . ********************** Please Note ***************************** Customers migrating to a WebSphere service level equal to or above 6.0.2.23 will already have this fix and will not encounter this issue. Customers that have already migrated, or are planning to migrate to a WebSphere service level before 6.0.2.23, may encounter this problem. In that case, unless the Local fix script is run, the problem will continue to occur even after service level 6.0.2.23 is applied. Please refer to the Local Fix section for the removeServerComponents.py script that can be used as a workaround if the server was migrated to a service level before 6.0.2.23. **************************************************************** . Here is the exact URL: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21261320Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * for z/OS migrating from a previous * * release that included the scheduler * * service. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Customers will see a benign exception * * after migrating to WebSphere * * Application Server V6.0.1 for z/OS * * indicating that the runtime cannot * * start a component: * * * * ClassNotFoundException on the class: * * com.ibm.ws.runtime.component * * .SystemMessageServerImpl * * * * This does not cause any problems to * * the normal functioning of the server. * * * * This exception does not surface for * * WebSphere Application Server V6.1 * * for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Migration does not remove an unneeded service during the conversion from the old release. In WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for z/OS, the runtime handles this dynamically, and in V6.0.1, the problem is handled but an unneeded message is put in the logs: WSVR0501E: ERROR CREATING COMPONENT COM.IBM.WS.RUNTIME... Since the bad components are properly handled in both WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1 and V6.1 for z/OS, customers will not experience any loss of performance or capability of their servers.Problem conclusion As a cosmetic measure in WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1 for z/OS, the runtime code has been updated to no longer throw the unneeded WSVR0501E: message to the logs. The migration code for both WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1 and V6.1 for z/OS will be updated to properly remove the unneeded service, so that the issue is cleaned up. APAR PK45236 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 6.0.2.23 of WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
