Error description When attempting to delete a WebSphere user or group from the admin console's list of users and groups, a null pointer exception will occur if the user/group is not defined in the 3rd party authentication database (e.g. LDAP).Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V6.0.1 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Removing users/groups through * * the WebSphere Application Server * * Administrative Console throws a * * NullPointerException when the user/ * * group no longer exists in the backend * * LDAP database. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A NullPointerException will be thrown when an attempt to remove a user or group via the Administrative Console follows the scenerio below in which the user or group had already been removed from the backend LDAP database. The error occurs under the following scenario: 1. A user/group is created in the Administrative Console application and exists in the LDAP backend database. 2. The user/group is removed from the LDAP backend database for any reason. 3. A WebSphere Administrator attempts to remove the user/group from the WebSphere Administrative Console user listing. 4. A NullPointerException is seen in the logs.Problem conclusion Changes have been made to prevent the NullPointerException in this scenerio. APAR PK50395 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 6.0.2.24 of WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
