![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description While idle, the Deployment Manager for WebSphere Application Server v5.0 for z/OS uses I/O and CPU time. Investigation of this via an OMVS component trace shows that the Deployment Manager is attempting to reload FileTransferServlet.class every few seconds, regardless of what the reload setting is at the admin console for the filetransfer application.Local fix at the admin console, click on the file transfer servlet application, click on the 'Reload Enabled' checkbox and set the 'Reload Interval' to 0, save and sync.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CPU usage high when Deployment Manager * * is idle. The file system is scanned * * every 3 seconds for the * * FileTransferServlet as indicated by * * CTRACE for OMVS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Deployment Manager attempts to reload the FileTransferServlet every 3 seconds based on the default reloadEnabled property of the FileTransfer Application. The application ear is missing the ibm-web-ext.xmi deployment descriptor file where this property as well as the reload interval can be configured. The properties default to reload enabled set to true and reload interval to 3 seconds.Problem conclusion The file transfer application is an administration application and does not need to be reloaded. This fix adds the ibm-web-ext.xmi descriptor file with the properties reloadEnabled=false and reloadInterval=0 Also fixed a problem with the postinstaller script that updates the administrative console application. The ear file to restore to on the backout path will be picked from the backup directory instead of the installableApps directory.
