![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Some exceptions thrown from the JSP pre-compiler to be made visible in the joblog may appear garbled after applying w510200. This is due to redundant ASCII to EBCDIC translation for some exception streams.Local fix Deploy the application without precompiling, then run the JSP batch compiler script on the application to see the exception messages in a readable format.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When installing a war file with the * * JSP precompile option, if the JSP * * compile fails the error messages are * * in an unreadable format. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Error messages with the failing JSP were being translated from ASCII to EBCDIC twice making the error messages generated unreadable.Problem conclusion Code was removed that translated the JSP error messages for the second time which made the JSP error messages unreadable. APAR PQ98074 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W502020 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
