****************************************************************
The extendedRequest variable value is a hard-coded literal
string. When used in non-z/OS platforms hard-coding a literal
is ok, but, when the code is moved to the z/OS platform the
literal string is translated from ascii to ebcdic. The request
hangs because the request is ebcdic rather than ascii as
required.
Problem conclusion
Changed the variable value from a literal string to an ascii
code string which gets around the translation issue. Also rolled
the WebSphere Distributed APAR
PQ84794 which is required for
this functionally to work.

APAR PQ91841 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W502016 of
WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.
