Error description This APAR addresses defects in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: APAR PQ74011 addresses various problems * * in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 * * for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** APAR PQ74011 addresses the following problems in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS: (MD16888) ServerPac customers installing WebSphere Application Server for z/OS V5.0 will experience link edit errors when running the generated CALLLINK job. When running the generated CALLLINK job, the link edit step which attempts to link edit LMOD BBOSMS will generate a return code value of 12. The link edit error messages associated with the failing step for LMOD BBOSMS are as follows: IEW2303E 1030 MEMBER BBOSMS OF THE DATA SET SPECIFIED BY SMPLTS COULD NOT BE FOUND. IEW2230S 0414 MODULE HAS NO TEXT. IEW2648E 5111 ENTRY CEESTART IS NOT A CSECT OR AN EXTERNAL NAME IN THE MODULE. IEW2677S 5130 A VALID ENTRY POINT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. IEW2617I 4C43 DEFINITION SIDE FILE IS EMPTY. THERE ARE NO SYMBOLS TO BE EXPORTED. IEW2850I F920 BBOSMS HAS BEEN SAVED WITH AMODE 24 AND RMODE 24. ENTRY POINT NAME IS **NULL** IEW2231I 0481 END OF SAVE PROCESSING. IEW2617I 4C43 DEFINITION SIDE FILE IS EMPTY. THERE ARE NO SYMBOLS TO BE EXPORTED. These messages can be ignored. WebSphere's performance and functions are not affected. LMOD BBOSMS is no longer required. (MD16968) Customers can receive errors marshalling value types to non-WAS servers/clients. org.omg.CORBA.Marshal exceptions, or other problems involving reading marshalled value types will occur on the non-WAS server/client system. PartnerVersion initialization causes incorrect values to be passed into the parameter marshalling engine. Also, "Unknown System Exception" messages can be received when trying to demarshal a reply containing a system exception. This results becaused SystemException reply bodies include the wrong exception id. (MD16991) A java.security.AccessControlException is received when loading a WebSphere runtime class. This problem occurs when an application did a CORBA ORB.init. The exception happens because most runtime classes are not allowed to be accessed by application classes directly. The class involved was missed as one that application should have access too. (MD17001) In local mode, a ClassCastException can be received when attempting to load a stub that is derived from another stub. This is due to the fact that a less-derived version (a superclass) of the stub has been loaded and cached in the wrapper. (MD17071) Remote non-WebSphere Application Server fails with an UNKNOWN/MARSHAL exception and details about being unable to demarshal value from stream. Parse of inbound fragment containing no data fails, causing MARSHAL exception with minor code C9C20CFA. The exact failure depends on remote server implementation, the failure indicates an inability to demarshal parameter data sent on an initial request from WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS due to incorrect assumptions for initial PartnerVersion values. Also, an incorrect length calculation expected the length field of GIOP message to include the length of the GIOP header for fragment messages (which it does not).Problem conclusion APAR PQ74011 provides the following problem resolution: (MD16888) Support has been modified to remove LMOD BBOSMS from the product. (MD16968) PartnerVersion initialization has been corrected to correctly initialize values in the absence of a PartnerVersion service context. Also, SystemException marshalling code changed to correctly include the repository id as specified in the CORBA specification. (MD16991) Support has been modified to added the COBRA ORB.init class to the exception list so it could be accessed by the application. (MD17001) Support has been modified to always load and cache the most derived version of the stub. (MD17071) Support has been modified to correct the initial PartnerVersion values for outbound requests. Also, the length check for fragment messages has been corrected. APAR PQ74011 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W500004 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
