![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Ship internal defect fixes for Service Level W502010.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: APAR PQ89563 addresses various defects * * in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 * * for z/OS: * * * * (MD18843) When using the Administrative * * Console to install a new application, a * * ServletException can occur if the * * Cancel button is selected after * * browsing a server path for the * * application .ear file. * * * * (MD18965) An error 500 message on the * * Administrative Console is unclear when * * global security is turned off at the * * Deployment Manager, but the Node Agent * * and AppServer are not recycled. * * * * (MD19740) For an application install * * done via the wsadmin scripting install * * interactive method, the * * wsadmin.traceout file sometimes * * reports a NullPointerException warning. * * The same warning message may also be * * generated when the Administrative * * Console is used to install * * certain applications. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** APAR PQ89563 addresses the following defects in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS: (MD18843) This problem only occurs if the Applications>>Install New Application path is taken in the Administrative Console, and only if the Server Path radio button is selected and the associated Browse button is clicked. If upon returning to the "Preparing for the application installation" screen, the Cancel button is clicked, the following servlet exception is displayed: ServletException in:/secure/layouts/pagingLayout.jsp Cannot find bean com.ibm.ws.console.appdeployment. ApplicationDeploymentCollectionForm in scope null ' ServletException in:/secure/layouts/quicksearchLayout.jsp Cannot find bean com.ibm.ws.console.appdeployment. ApplicationDeploymentCollectionForm in scope session' (MD18965) If the Deployment Manager, Node Agent, and AppServer are all running with global security set on, and the administrator turns global security off and recycles the Deployment Manager (but does not recycle the Node Agent and AppServer), the following error message will appear on the Administrative Console when an application or server is started or stopped: Error 500 An error occurred while processing request: /admin/application DeploymentCollection.do Message: Server caught unhandled exception from servlet action : null Although the stack trace in the detail panel does indicate a credential problem -- the node agent is still expecting credentials -- this information is not readily available and should appear in the message itself, as it does in WebSphere on other platforms. (MD19740) When using the wsadmin "installInteractive" command to install some application ear files containing message-driven EJBs, you may notice the following exception condition is reported in the wsadmin.traceout log file: AppDeployment W Unexpected exception: java.lang.NullPointerException checking if EAR is deployed. However, wsadmin reports that the application has been successfully installed. Similarly, the same warning message may be generated when installing certain applications using the Administrative Console. This problem will only occur under the following circumstances: 1. The ear contains at least one message-driven EJB, and 2. for all other EJBs in the ear (i.e., session and data beans) their respecive EJB jar files contain class files for their remote or local interfaces.Problem conclusion APAR PQ89563 fixes various defects in WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS. (MD18843) Defect MD18843 delivers the fix for WebSphere Application Server for Distributed APAR PQ82151 into WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS. The code was changed to handle the problem condition and reload the "Preparing for the application installation" page when the Cancel button is clicked. (MD18965) The z/OS code has been changed to produce the following Error 500 screen: Error 500 An error occurred while processing request: /admin/application DeploymentCollection.do Message: Server caught unhandled exception from servlet action : ADMN0022E: Access denied for the stop operation on Server MBean due to insufficient or empty credentials. (The complete stack trace will be available if Details is selected.) (MD19740) The WebSphere code was modified to exclude message-driven beans from checks for interface classes in EJB jar files, since these beans do not have interfaces. APAR PQ89563 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W502010 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
