![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Customers require the ability to supress the 'server:' HTTP Response Header that is generated by WebSphere Application Server. This APAR will provide this ability.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere Application Server for z/OS * * should allow the 'server:' header to be * * suppressed in http responses. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Many Web Servers allow for the suppression of the 'server:' http header in responses. WebSphere Application Server for z/OS should provide similar support.Problem conclusion Support for suppression of the 'server:' header has been added by the addition of a new Custom Property "ServerHeader". This property is set on the Web Container Custom Properties, and can take the values of "true", the server header is included in the http response, or "false", the server header is suppressed from the http response. If the Custom Property is not specified, the default is equal to a setting of "true", and the server header is included in the http response. This is the current behavior of WebSphere Application Server for z/OS, and so no action is required after application of the PTF for this APAR if this behavior is to be maintained. APAR PQ83469 requires a change to the Infocenter. To access the latest online documentation, go to the product library page at: www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/zos_os390/library/ The change made to 'Web container custom properties', now reads: The application server allows suppression of the server HTTP header (Server:) in responses. When the server header custom property is not specified, the default is equal to a setting of "ture" and the server header is included in the HTTP response. You can prevent the inclusion of the server header by using the following name-value pair: Name ServerHeader Value false APAR PQ83469 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W502005 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
