Changing the WebSphere Application Server V5 configuration root directory for an already-configured environment
 Technote (FAQ)

Problem
When you install a WebSphere® Application Server v5 environment on a z/OS® system, part of the set up process is to specify the WebSphere configuration root directory. Then you run a series of batch jobs to build the WebSphere Application Server v5 environment.

After building your v5 environment, there is no simple way to change this root directory. The only option has been to rebuild the v5 environment from scratch, specifying the new configuration root directory in the ISPF panels and re-running all of the installation batch jobs. If you have made significant changes to the v5 environment, such as defining several clusters, creating various definitions, installing a number of applications, you must redo all of this work. It can be a lengthy process to rebuild your v5 environment.

The attached documents provide an alternative method that you can use to change the WebSphere Application Server v5 configuration root directory, while retaining the current WebSphere configuration information.

The process described here is for Network Deployment environments.
