Problem(Abstract) |
The plug-ins for IBM® WebSphere® Application Server
Version 5 are not shipped with WebSphere Application Server for z/OS® |
|
|
|
Cause |
Plug-ins can not be located because WebSphere Application
Server for z/OS does not ship them in Version 5 |
|
|
Resolving the
problem |
Here is how you would find the distributed plug-in for IPlanet as an
example:
First, go to the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS Support site
and perform a search for:
"Supported distributed platform Web server plug-in configurations".
You will find a table
describing all supported plug-in executable file names.
This table shows that the plug-in has the same name as it did in Version
4.0, libns41_http.so.
Secondly, click on the link below to find the Distributed Support Page:
http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/was/support/
Download the latest copy of the distributed Cumulative Fix:
WAS_Plugin_02-03-2004_5.0.X_cumulative_Fix_Sun.jar
In that jar you will find another jar named 'update.jar'. It is found
under the directory:
WAS_Plugin_02-03-2004_5.0.X_cumulative_Fix_Sun.jar\efixes\WAS_Plugin_02-
03-2004_5.0.X_cumulative\components\plugins.http
Inside update.jar\bin you will find a copy of file libns41_http.so
Note: .
To find any current apars for libns41_http.so you can enter a search
argument from the Distributed Support Page:
http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/was/support/
'enter search terms'=libns41_http.so
'optionally limit results'=downloads (fixes & patches)
If your search produced the following:
PQ82361; 5.0.2.3: iPlanetT plug-in initialization failed after installing
5.0.2.
Select that item and choose 'Download package' PQ82361 Solaris™ In the jar
that is downloaded you will find 'update.jar', and in update.jar\bin you
will find the IPlanet plug-in file: 'libns41_http.so'
Additional Note:
In the example above two copies of the file are downloaded, one in the
Cumulative Fix, and one from the APAR search. Use the one with the most
current date.
Do not follow any instructions to install the Cumulative Fix or any
UpdateInstaller tool. You would only follow those instructions if you were
actually installing the Cumulative Fix, which you are NOT going to do in
this case.
You only want to extract 'update.jar' from the Cumulative Fix jar, and
then extract the plug-in file libns41_http.so' from 'update.jar'.
