![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description The XMemChannel has a synchronization window in which an XMem connection may get cleaned up prematurely and improperly. (The Java side is cleaned up, but the native counterpart is left in limbo). Once this occurs, any attempt at stopping the server will hang forever (the server must be manually killed).Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of WebSphere Application Server for * * z/OS Version 6.1 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Attempting to stop a WebSphere * * Application Server may hang after the * * server has handled a heavy HTTP * * workload. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When running a heavy HTTP workload WebSphere may only partially clean up from a successful HTTP reqeust. Later, if an atttempt is made to stop the server, the stop request will hang due to the partial clean up of requests. Something similar to the following may be seen in the logs after the stop command hangs: Trace: 2007/05/03 18:40:08.906 01 t=8B9A48 c=UNK key=S2 Description: traceORBR_Registry ORB_Request Target Operation : data_address=274d45f6, +---------------------------------------------------------+ |OSet| Address = 274d45f6 Length = 000c | EBCDIC | +----+-----------------------------------+----------------+ |0000|88A3A397 998598A4 85A2A300 |httprequest. | +---------------------------------------------------------+Problem conclusion WebSphere has been modified such that it will no longer partially cleanup from HTTP requests when under heavy load thus allowing the server to stop cleanly. APAR PK45276 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.11 of WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
