Abstract |
You are required to have only the REDUCED FUNCTION form of
WebSphere® MQ that is shipped with WebSphere® Application Server for
z/OS®, if using Java Messaging Service (JMS). This is also known as the
Integral JMS provider (IJP), or Embedded WebSphere JMS provider (embedded
messaging).

Applications written in Java™ programming language running
under WebSphere Application Server can use the JMS specification to
perform messaging. Point-to-point messaging in this environment is
provided by a WebSphere MQ for z/OS queue manager. Two classes of
configuration are available:
- REDUCED FUNCTION for WebSphere MQ for z/OS
The WebSphere MQ for z/OS base function code provided with WebSphere
Application Server for z/OS enables point-to-point messaging through the
queue manager. This environment is suited to simple messaging between JMS
applications running in WebSphere Application Server for z/OS environment.
This is also known as the Integral JMS provider (IJP) or Embedded
WebSphere JMS provider (embedded messaging).
- FULL FUNCTION for Websphere MQ for z/OS
The WebSphere MQ for z/OS full function code is installed as a
separate product from WebSphere Application Server for z/OS
product. It allows point-to-point messaging through the queue manager. In
this environment, JMS-enabled WebSphere Application Server applications
participate fully in the functionality of a WebSphere MQ for z/OS network.
For example, they can make use of the IMS® Bridge, or exchange messages
with WebSphere MQ for z/OS queue managers running on other platforms.
Note:
The Internet Gateway feature is available only as part of the IBM
WebSphere MQ Version 5 product; it is not part of the reduced-function
WebSphere MQ that is included with WebSphere Application Server Version 5.
If you are installing the two products together, use the IBM WebSphere MQ
program directory to install the WebSphere MQ FMIDs, and the WebSphere
Application Server program directory to install the WebSphere Application
Server for z/OS (and optional Java) FMIDs. The instructions in the
WebSphere Application Server for z/OS program directory cannot be used to
install the separate WebSphere MQ product.
The WebSphere Application Server for z/OS program directory has a note in
section 5.3, "Installing WebSphere for MQ," stating that the MQ
installation steps in the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS program
directory can be skipped if you already have a full version of WebSphere
MQ Version 5.3.1 installed. This also applies if the two products are
being installed at the same time. |
