![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description HTTP NEEDS TO SWITCH TO SERVER ID TO READ PLUGIN-CFG.XML FILE.Local fix CIRCUMVENTION: Set directive USERID in the httpd.conf to %%SERVER%%.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When running the Web Server with * * %%CLIENT and using the WebSphere HTTP * * Plug-in for z/OS, and a change is made * * to the plugin configuration file, the * * plugin fails to read the updated * * configuration file because the userid * * on the thread on which the update is * * attempted does not have the necessary * * file system permissions. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The WebSphere HTTP Plug-in for z/OS is capable of dynamically picking up updates to its configuration file. It initiates this process on whichever worker thread is dispatched when the file system update is detected by the plugin. The userid under which this thread is running must have the correct file system permissions or the plugin configuration update will fail. If the IBM Http Server is configured to run with %%CLIENT%% then without the PTF for this APAR applied each client userid would have to be granted the necessary file system permissions.Problem conclusion The WebSphere HTTP Plug-in for z/OS configuration update routine has been changed to switch the identity of the thread on which the update is running to be that of the process (address space). Once the update is complete, the thread identity is switched back to that which it had before entering the configuration update routine. APAR PQ75809 is associated with SERVICE LEVEL W500104 of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 for z/OS.Temporary fix Comments
