![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Currently customers can enter a 'hostname' for the following environment variables in the following format via the admin console, protocol_http_listenIPAddress = sys1.ibm.com protocol_https_listenIPAddress = sys1.ibm.com Each of these can be set from the admin console and the value entered is not checked to verify that it is a dotted ip address. These values must be dotted ip addresses and cannot be set to hostnames. Support is being added to add a check in the admin console that will prevent users from entering a hostname in these fields. Only a '*' or a dotted ip address will be accepted.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V5.0 for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Server fails to restart with message * * BBOO0040E after setting HTTP Transport * * Host field value to a hostname instead * * of a dotted decimal IP address. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In the Administrative Console, only dotted IP format values are supported for the HTTP Transport Host field (Application Servers > server1 > Web Container > HTTP Transport > host), but other types of values (e.g. hostname) can be entered. These values are accepted, but when the server is restarted, it fails with the following messages in the application server control region: BBOO0040E Function inet_addr failed with RV=-1, RC=129, RSN=0594003D EDC5129I No such file or directory. (errno2=0x0594003D)Problem conclusion The Administrative Console now validates that the value entered for the HTTP Transport Host field is either * or in dotted IP format (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn). The value is not checked to determine if it is a valid IP address - only that it is in the correct format (four one-to-three-digit numbers separated by periods.)
