The WebSphere Application Server for z/OS information center
section "Tuning MDB processing on z/OS" describes a
configuration in which the maximum session property on a
Listener Port may be larger than the Session Pool size
on a connection factory:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v6r0/
             index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.websphere.express.doc/
                                  info/exp/ae/umb_prolp.html
.
The advice in the information center is correct.
However, after following the advice a WMSG0056W message may be
displayed when starting an application server on z/OS, similar
to the following example:
.
WMSG0056W: MDB Listener Port <LPNAME> maximum sessions size
of 12 is greater than its JMS Connection Factory <CF_NAME>
Session Pool size of 6, setting maximum sessions to 6
.
This message is displayed incorrectly.
The maximum sessions used by the listener port are not
altered as indicated by this message. They are used as
specified in the configuration.
Problem conclusion
This APAR prevents the message from being displayed.
There is no other change in behaviour due to this APAR.

APAR PK58078 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.17 of WebSphere Application Server V6.1
