****************************************************************
When a JDBC Provider is defined using the WebSphere
Application Server for z/OS Administrative Console
and then a datasource is defined under that provider,
an initial default set of connection pool properties
is automatically defined for the datasource. This
set of connection pool properties is then used
to control the connection pool that is associated
with the datasource. One of the properties in this
set is the connectionTimeout property which is used
to control how long a getConnection request should wait
for a connection once the maximum connections specified
by the maxConnections property has been reached. Currently,
this value is either 1000 or 1800 seconds for each of the
JDBC providers supported by WebSphere Application
Server for z/OS. The WebSphere Info Center documentation
however indicates the default value for the connectionTimeout
property is 180. The value specified by the Info Center
is in fact the correct value. The value generated by the
JDBC resource provider templates is wrong and needs to be
changed.
Problem conclusion
The default connectionTimeout value for all the JDBC
providers will be changed to 180 seconds.
