Problem(Abstract) |
An enterprise application deployed on a cluster member
fails to start with the following error in the SystemOut.log:

Resolving the
problem |
Review the server.xml file for each cluster member and
verify the proper cluster tag, clusterName=, is in the process
line. This tag is needed so the Application Server is included as part of
the cluster.
Below is the line that is required in the server.xml to resolve the error:
<process:Server xmi:id="Server_1" name="server1"
clusterName="testcluster"> The following files must contain the
correct references for the cluster to work properly:
- deployment.xml file for each enterprise application
installed on the cluster must contain the deployment targets pointing to
the cluster name (not cluster members), located in the
$WAS_HOME/config/cells/<cell name>/applications/<enterprise
app name.ear>/deployments/<enterprise app name> directory.
- cluster.xml file will list all the application
servers in the cluster,
located in the $WAS_HOME/config/cells/<cell
name>/clusters/<cluster name> directory.
- server.xml file for each application server in the
cluster must contain the cluster tag, located in the
$WAS_HOME/config/cells/<cell name>/nodes/<node
name>/servers/<server name> directory.
Once these files contain the tags identified above, the cluster should
work. The following technote illustrates the proper way to create a
cluster and the cluster members:
