Troubleshooting administrative console problems for IBM®
WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 and V5.1. This should help address
common issues with this component before calling IBM support and save you
time. |

Steps to help resolve administrative console problems
- Is the administrative console installed properly?
- Yes, continue to the next question.
- No, if you are not sure, check the log file located
in the following directory:
install_root/logs/installAdminConsole |

Make sure you see the following statement at the bottom
of the file: |

Application adminconsole installed
successfully |

- Have you installed the Application Server on AIX® and having problems
accessing the administrative console?
- Yes, see this technote
to make sure you have enough space. See this technote
to make sure there is no 9090 port conflict.
- No, continue to the next question.
- Are you having problems bringing up the administrative console?
- Yes, make sure the administrative console is
installed and started. Check the file located in the following directory:
install_root/logs/dmgr/SystemOut.log |

Make sure you see the statement: |

If you see the preceding statement, but you still have
problems accessing the administrative console, then continue to next
question. |

- Are you having problems bringing up administrative console after
modifying the HTTP Transport port?
- Yes, by default the HTTP Transport port for the
administrative console is set to 9090. For some reason, if you have
modified the port to 9091, then you might have to modify the port 9090 to
9091 in the virtualhosts.xml file, located in the following
directory:
install_root/config/cells/cell_name/ |

Make sure you have taken a backup of the file before
modifying . Restart the server after modifying the files. See this technote
