Problem |
Can I install an enterprise application or create a
WebSphere® Application Server V5 instance on a remote file system, such as
a Unix® nfs filesystem or Windows® mapped drive? Is this supported by
IBM? |
|
Solution |
Installing an enterprise archive (ear) file or creating a
V5 instance on a remote file system is supported. However, there are some
considerations you should be aware of.
- The network connection must be stable or the results
will be unpredictable
- If the application files become unavailable, even for
short periods of time, it will affect the availability of the application.
The nature of the affect will depend on the components that make up the
application.
- For a V5 instance, all Java™ Virtual Machine (JVM)
processes must run on the host from which the wsinstance command was
executed. The reason for this is that the instance configuration files
contain embedded references to that host.
