PK02657: MOD_IBM_SSL THREAD-SAFETY ISSUE CAUSES CRASH

APAR status
Closed as fixed if next.

Error description
There was a thread safety issue in mod_ibm_ssl which could cause
intermittent crashes while updating tables of SSL data which are
provided to IHS plug-in modules. In order to encounter this
problem, the IHS configuration must have included multiple
SSL-enabled virtual hosts, and there must be requests to the
different SSL-enabled virtual hosts at the same time as soon
as a new child process is created. Thus, the problem would be
rarely seen except in high-load servers.
Local fix Problem summary
Special processing is performed on first
client connection to each SSL-enabled vhost with each child
process. There was a problem when the first connection to
multiple SSL-enabled vhosts arrived at the same time. A
problem with serialization could result in multiple threads
using the same memory, resulting in corruption of a table that
is accessed on each SSL request.
Problem conclusion Temporary fix Comments
This APAR is being closed as Fixed IF Next. There is a
deficiency that we currently plan to fix if there is
another release.
