Export of ear file uses config folder, not the installedApps folder
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Using hot deployment, you can modify servlets and classes in the installedApps folder. However, if you export the ear using the console, the latest changes that were made to the application will not be exported in the installedApps folder.

Cause
The Export function in IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Version 5.0 and V6.0 is designed to use the config folder rather than the installedApps folder. In V4.0, the Export of an ear file would pick up changes that were made to installedApps folder.

Resolving the problem
Best Practice is to always modify applications using application development tools like WebSphere Studio Application Developer or IBM Rational® Application Developer and then redeploy the application.
