Attempting to create a cluster using V6.0 wsadmin connected to a V5.0 DeploymentManager results in ConfigServiceException
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Connecting an IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V6.0 wsadmin client to a V5.1 Deployment Manager works. But attempting to create a cluster fails.

Resolving the problem
The command to create the cluster is:

$AdminConfig createClusterMember $oClusterToUse $oNodeToUse attrServer

There error seen is:

com.ibm.ws.scripting.ScriptingException:
com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.ConfigServiceException: Unable to initialize command manager ClientMode

WebSphere Application Server does not support connecting a V6.0 wsadmin client to a V5.0 deployment manager or Application Server. The server needs to be at a higher version than the client.

If you need interoperability you can connect a V5.0 wsadmin to a V6.0 dmgr or Application Server.
