![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description After global security is enabled for WSAS, stop and restart server1; login to the admin console with the configured user id and password. Leave the adminconsole screen idle for 15-20 minutes; try using it again, it will lock up and dump the core with a sigsev error which crashes the adminconsole jvm. Sometimes the crash occurs justlogging into the adminconsole. Disabling security prevents the problem, as does disabling the jit compiler for the adminconsole. The javacore shows that the crash is due to signal 11 received and also shows that SIGSEGV received in ?? at 0x14 in ??. Processing terminated. SIGSEGV is a very common signal, so this symptom alone is far from adequate to match this particular APAR. The Current Thread Details of the javacore that the reporting customer sent gives no java or native stack information. The following is logged **** Exception 2 received when dumping Java stack. The java command line of the javacore will show that the java class that was used to run this java program is com.ibm.ws.bootstrap.WSLauncher com.ibm.ws.runtime.WsServer **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server 5.0.0 who use global security via the * * OS with the adminconsole of WSAS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A problem with the Java Virtual * * Machine ( JVM ) results in WebSphere * * adminconsole crashing with SIGSEGV. * ****************************************************************Local fix Disable security or disable the jit compiler. Customer was also able to prevent the jit crash by disabling the NMMI2JIT, see Hint and Tip 1116526 for details.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server 5.0.0 with global security enabled * * for LocalOS on the Linux Intel or 390 * * platform. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Admin Console Java Virtual Machine * * ( JVM ) process crashes with a * * Just-In-Time ( JIT ) compiler crash * * when security is enabled. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem occurs when global security is enabled for WebSphere, and then the user logs in to the admin console. Then leaves the console idle for 15 to 20 minutes, when the user tries to use the console again, it will lock up and dump the javacore with a sigsev error which crashes the Admin Console JVM. Sometimes the crash occurs just by logging into the Admin Console.Problem conclusion Disabling security or disabling the JIT compiler for the Admin Console process prevents this problem. This is fixed in jdk cxia131-20030719 .Temporary fix Comments
