Load Balancer cookie contained in server cookie
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Passive cookie rules activate when the cookie defined in Load Balancer rules are contained in the server cookie.

Resolving the problem
When defining a passive cookie rule in Load Balancer for the CBR component or the Dispatcher content based routing (cbr) forwarding method, the cookie value that is defined in the rule has a contained in relationship to the cookie that is generated at the server.

The rule activates if the cookie, defined in the passive cookie rule, is contained in the server cookie. This flexibility is available to handle cases where the server might create a cookie that has a static part appended to a variable part. For example, the cookie might be the server name (static) appended to a timestamp (variable).

In the Load Balancer rule, you can define the cookie as just the server name; then the rule fires each time the server name is found in any part of the server cookie.
