Ant Task Requires conntype Parameter in build.xml When Security is Enabled
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

When executing Ant tasks with WebSphere® Application Server V5 security enabled, you must specify the conntype, along with login credentials, in the build.xml file. You cannot pass the credentials from the command line at execution time.

Resolving the problem
The WebSphere Ant Task commands do not execute properly when the build.xml file does not contain all the necessary options.

One example of this is the connection information. If security is enabled, you must pass the username and password information in order to connect to WebSphere. You cannot pass the username and password from the command line when executing an Ant task. Instead, the conntype and credentials must be specified in the build.xml file. This is true even if you are using the default connection type.

The Ant task will not read or use the other connection information (host, port, user and password) if the conntype option is not specified. So, even if you use the default connection type, you need to specify the conntype option before the other non-default options will be used.

Example:

conntype="specifies the type of connection to be used."
host="the host to connect to"
port="the port on the host to connect to"
user="user ID to authenticate with"
password="password to authenticate with"
