APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
I invoke the AAT and click on the Resource Adapter icon. The
skeleton for a resource adapter appears. From the menu line, I
choose File/Open. I choose a resource adapter (RAR) that we
(Unisys) have created. This RAR file opens and it's information
appears within the AAT.
I now click on the Advanced tab in the right hand pane. This
causes the connection information for the RAR to appear. I now
scroll to the bottom of this pane so that the field Transaction
Support is visible. The value in this field in No Transaction,
which is the value that the RAR was initially built with. I
want to change this field so I select Xa Transaction from the
drop down menu and then click on Apply. From the menu line I now
select File/Save. A pop-up window appear and states
that the save was successful. From the menu I now select
File/Close.
The RAR is now closed and it should have been updated.
I now reopen this RAR. I select File/Open. I now click on the
Advanced tab in the right hand pane. This again causes the
connection information for the RAR to appear. I now scroll to
the bottom of this pane so that the field Transaction Support is
visible. The value in this field is No Transaction. The update
that I did in the previous step was not saved. No matter what I
change it to, after the RAR is closed and reopened, it is reset
back to No Tranaction. I can make
changes to the Config Properties and they remain in effect.
This problem started occurring today after I installed fix pack
2. This problem does not occur on the AAT in the base version
of WAS v5. We have a machine that still has the base version on
it and I tried this same scenerio and the updates take effect as
expected.

After making changes to a Resource Adapter ( RAR ) file and
saving it, in AAT, the Transaction Support field is always set
to No Transaction. The data type for the transaction support of
a Resource Adapter Instance needs to be replaced with the
correct setting in the Transaction Support field.
Problem conclusion
The code was modified so the users can now change the
Transaction Support field setting and save the changes correctly
in the AAT.
