NullPointerException occurs when the system property com.ibm.ws.classloader.j9enabled is set to true.

Problem(Abstract)
When starting IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Test environment on WebSphere® Studio Application Developer V5.1, with the property com.ibm.ws.classloader.j9enabled set to true, a NullPointerException will be thrown and the server will not start.
 
Cause
he preceding problem(InheritableThreadLocal) is caused by a discrepancy in a specific VM class and will cause the following error message to appear on the console:

Resolving the problem
The fix is available in 1.3.1 SR6 which ships with WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5.1.1 [see also APAR JR18998].
Workaround
Disable J9 by turning off the Hot Method Replace option. However, disabling J9 will remove certain debug capabilities.
