Cause
Limitation from windows operating system about limit of 259 characters . Basically this is not a problem with WebSphere® application server but more of limitation for the users who are running WebSphere on windows operation system.

Resolving the problem
Due to the fact that this problem occurs only on Windows operation system there is no solution from WebSphere server perspective at this time but following work-around can help the client for fixing this problem:

1) Install WebSphere server with a less number of characters in the install path.

2) If the problem is appearing when deploying an application , having a shorter names for modules inside application and also the shorter length for the application name would help.
