Installing WebSphere Application Server V5.0 on Red
Hat Linux 8.0
Downloadable files
Abstract
This document describes how to install WebSphere®
Application Server V5.0 on systems running the Red Hat Linux 8.0 operating
system.
Download Description
Briefly stated, in order to install WebSphere Application Server V5.0
on Red Hat Linux 8.0, you must perform three steps:
1) Download a modified version of the prereqChecker.xml file and the
associated prereqChecker.dtd file (see the table below). These files are
used to check software prerequisites during the installation process. Copy
these two files to the same directory - they must be in the same directory
prior to beginning the install process.
2) Install WebSphere 5.0 on the Red Hat Linux 8.0 machine with the
modified prereqChecker.xml file by using the
osLevelCheckActionBean.configFilePath parameter to pass the modified
prereqChecker.xml file to the install program.
3) Download and Install the WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Fix Pack.
Details on this procedure are available in the document titled "How to
Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 on Red Hat Linux 8.0" in the
table below.
Also, the IBM® HTTP Server included with WebSphere Application Server V5.0
needs compat-db-3.3.11-2.i386.rpm installed.
