Error description In all fixpak levels of WebSphere Application Server 4.0.x, Advanced and Single Server editions, the "user" and "password" fields for an Oracle datasource are required. It has been requested that WebSphere make them non-required (optional) fields.Local fix Define dummy userid and password when defining an Oracle datasource and use the correct values when calling getConnection to override the dummy values.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server users who * * use Oracle Database as a back end. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Userid and Password fields on an * * Oracle DataSource were required. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Customer did not want to have the userid and password fields for an Oracle DataSource to be mandatory.Problem conclusion Changed the fields for userid and password to be non-mandatory.Temporary fix Comments
