Abstract
When security is enabled, the performance monitoring
servlet fails with a null pointer exception or NoClassDefFoundError.
Without security enabled, the servlet works correctly.

IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 ships with a Performance
Servlet, perfServletApp.ear. Invoking the servlet with global security and
Java™ 2 security enabled causes a large error stack to appear in the
browser:
An error stack also appears in the browser when global security is enabled
and java 2 security is disabled:
Error Message: Server caught unhandled exception from servlet
[perfservlet]: null
Error Code: 500
Target Servlet: perfservlet

PQ72877 fixes the problem in version 5.0.1. There is a different fix to
apply for version 5.0.0. Please apply the Cumulative System Management
Interim Fix for version 5.0.0
