Resolving the
problem |
Background:
DataDirect (formerly Merant) SequeLink JDBC Driver is a type 3 JDBC
Driver. That means it has two components:
- SequeLink Java Client
- SequeLink Server
Installation:
The SequeLink Java Client is installed with WebSphere Application Server
3.5.3+ and 4.0.x.
For the SequeLink Server, you must download the SequeLink Server for your
database of choice from WebSphere Application Server's Support Web site.
To install the SequeLink Server:
- Unzip the downloaded zip file (sl51sqlsrvr.zip for SequeLink Server
for MS SQLServer) into a temporary directory; for example:
D:\download\sqlnk51sqlserver
- In a command prompt window, navigate to the directory in Step 1, then
run the setup.exe with parameter /v"IPE=NO"; for example:
Download\sqlnk51sqlserver> setup /v"IPE=NO"
The interface is displayed and all the screenshots with action are
highlighted:
Click Change to change the installation directory.
Notes:
- You can change the names and port numbers for the above two services:
SL Agent and SL Server (it is recommended that you keep the defaults). If
the ports 19995 and/or 19996 are used by other applications, then you have
to pick different ports.
- When you make connection from your JDBC application, use the port for
SL Server; for example: 19996.
The SL Agent is *USED* for administration/configuration.
Click Install.
After it is installed, check your Windows Services. You will see that two
services, SLAgent51 and SLSQLServer51, are running. |
