Receiving "Error 111" when installing Global Security Kit (GSKit) 5
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
When trying to install GSKit 5, you receive the following error message:

"Setup Initialization Error Insufficient memory available to run Setup. Close all other applications to make some memory available and try to run Setup again. Error 111."

This technote steps you through the corrective action of manually uninstalling and reinstalling GSKit 5.

Cause
The error is a result of a problem with the InstallShield product used to install GSKit 5. It can fail on systems with more than 1 gigabyte of memory.

Resolving the problem
Following is a workaround to install GSKit 5 if you experience this problem.
  1. Uninstalling

Verify that no ibm\gsk5 directory has been created in the \Program Files directory. If the directory exists, delete it. If there was a partial installation of GSKit 5, remove the partial entries from the registry.

To remove the entries from the registry, issue the following command:

    isuninst -f"D:\Program Files\ibm\gsk5\gsk5BUI.isu"

The command isuninst should already be in the path. It is the InstallShield uninstaller. The gsk5BUI.isu is the uninstall information file. Note that there is no space between the "-f" and the gsk5BUI.isu path.

  2. Installing

GSKit is located on the product CD in the nt\ihs> directory. From a command prompt in the nt\ihs> directory, issue the following command:

    nt\ihs> skit\setup.exe WAS5.0.0.0 "D:\Program Files" -s -f1 skit\Setup.iss -z

Where "D:\Program Files" represents the drive and name of the main program files folder. The -s is for "silent". If the installation does not create the directory structure, try removing the -s from the command string, then use the LaunchPad to install when it opens.

Updating GSKit after a fix pack install:

If the same problem occurs when installing a fix pack after Base is successfully installed, the workaround is:

From a command prompt in the $WAS_HOME\gskit5install directory, issue the following command:

$WAS_HOME\gskit5install>setup.exe WAS5.0.0.0 -s -z

After the program finishes, verify that the GSKit files are updated.
