Javacore during upgrade of WebSphere Application Server V5.0 or V5.1 releases
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Javacore occurs during installation of a Fix Pack or cumulative fix on IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 or V5.1 releases.

Cause
This can occur if you have other software installed on your system that interferes with the WebSphere Java™ SDK. In one particular case, a software product called Hypersion was the cause of the modified $PATH entry.

Resolving the problem
  1. Make sure you source the setupCmdLine.sh before the install by running the following command from install_root/bin:

    ./setupCmdLine.sh

  2. Check the $PATH variable for other software that is installed that could be causing a conflict with the WebSphere Java SDK.

  3. Remove or modify the conflicting path entry and try the installation again.
