Incomplete node removal in releases of WebSphere Application Server V5.1.1 and V5.0.2
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Whenever an IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V5.1.1 and V5.0.2 Base node is removed using the Deployment Manager in the WebSphere Application Server Deployment Manager Edition, the ND.product file does not get deleted in install_root/properties/version of WebSphere Application Server Base Edition.

Cause
The ND.product file is not deleted from the WebSphere Application Server Base Edition after a Base node removal.

Resolving the problem

Important: If you have multiple configuration instances (created using wsinstance on Windows® or crtwasinst for iSeries®) and these multiple instances are federated nodes to the Network Deployment Manager, then you can only apply the following workaround after you have removed the LAST wsinstance node from the Network Deployment Manager.

After the node removal, the ND.product file in the install_root/properties/version of the WebSphere Application Server Base Edition must be manually deleted, as well as all files with the prefix ND.properties in the install_root /properties/version/backup directory.

Where install_root is the installation path of WebSphere Application Server Base Edition.

For example, on a Windows system:

del ND.properties.*
