Error description
Customer tries to add a valid console users or group form either
the local Windows registry or form a NT domain controller. Error
returned on the console when trying to the user:
"No User was found in User Registry with this name".
Problem is WebSphere is not normalizing the case difference.
Local fix
If user "JohnDoe" resides on the local OS or Domian controller,
when trying to add him as a console user, typing in "johndoe"
does not find the user. Entering "JohnDoe" to match the case
settings where the user resides will allow you to add the user.
Same applies to groups.
Problem summary
****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users who have *
* enabled security, configured the Windows *
* local OS registry and are trying map users *
* to roles. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In Windows, if the user name in the *
* local registry or domain controller is *
* in mixed case, customer can not assign *
* case insensitive username to a role *
* in websphere. They have to enter the *
* the username exactly as ir appears in *
* the user registry. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
On Windows platform using LocalOS or domain controller,
customer cannot assign case insensitive username to a role.
They have to enter the username exactly as it appears
in the user regisry. For example, if the user created with
the username "uSer1", "uSer1" must be entered when mapping
a user to a rile. "USER! and "user1" will fail.
Problem conclusion
User to role mapping is now case insensitive when using the NT
user registry.
