Cause |
The addNode task uses all the memory resource. |

Resolving the
problem |
In IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 V5.1, each
command line script starts a separate Java Virtual Machine (JVM). To
overcome addNode.sh/bat running out the memory, update settings of the
minimum and maximum heap size.
To update addNode.sh
- Make a backup copy of addNode.sh
- Increase the minimum and maximum values for the heap size. To do this,
update parameters after
$JAVA_HOME/bin/java
Add:
-Xms256m -Xmx512m
Example:
"$JAVA_HOME"/bin/java -Xms256m -Xmx512m \
-Xbootclasspath/p:"$WAS_BOOTCLASSPATH" \
$DEBUG \
$CONSOLE_ENCODING \
"$CLIENTSAS" \
"$CLIENTSOAP" \
-Dws.ext.dirs="$WAS_EXT_DIRS" \
$USER_INSTALL_PROP \
-Dwas.install.root="$WAS_HOME" \
-classpath "$WAS_CLASSPATH":$CLASSPATH com.ibm.ws.bootstrap.WSLauncher \
$SHELL "$CONFIG_ROOT" "$WAS_CELL" "$WAS_NODE" "$@"
<li>Save addNode.sh/bat.
</li><li>Run addNode.sh/bat again.
</li><li>If this fails, enable the
-trace option and open a PMR. </li>
