Environment entries need to be introduced in IBM®
WebSphere® Application Server for system tuning. |

Resolving the
problem |
Environment entries or variables should be added using the
administrative console. To set environment entries from the administrative
console in WebSphere Application Server, follow these steps:
WebSphere Application Server V6.1
- Open the administrative console.
- Select Servers > Application Servers >
server_name > (Expand Java™ and Process Management) >
Process Definition > Environment Entries > New.
- Add entries to the Name/Value pairs.
- Click OK.
- Save changes to the master configuration and restart the Application
Server.
WebSphere Application Server V6.0
- Open the administrative console.
- Navigate to the appropriate area:
For Versions 6.0 and 6.0.1, select Servers > Application
Servers > server_name > (Expand Java and Process
Management) > Process Definition > Environment
Entries > New.
For Versions 6.0.2 (all releases), select Servers >
Application servers > server_name > (Expand Java and
Process Management) > Process Definition > Custom
Properties > New.
- Add entries to the Name/Value pairs.
- Click OK.
- Save changes to the master configuration and restart the Application
Server.
WebSphere Application Server V5.0 and 5.1
To set environment entries from the administrative console in Application
Server Versions 5.0 and 5.1 follow these steps:
- Open the administrative console.
- Select Servers > Application Servers >
server_name > Process Definition > Environment
Entries > New.
- Add entries to Name/Value pairs.
- Click OK.
- Save changes to the master configuration and restart the Application
Server.
