changes introduced with version 5.0 for Edge Component's Caching
Proxy. |

Resolving the
problem |
New features introduced with Edge Component's Caching
Proxy, version 5.0:
- Enhanced log support (MaxLogFileSize)
This feature allows the proxy to record logging entries to a sequence of
log files.
- JunctionRewrite for reverse proxy
This feature helps improve the proxy interface to multiple backend
servers through a directory layer inserted for all HTMLpages proxied by
Edge Component. Backend servers need minimal changes to implement this
feature. The proxy rewritew the pages, or inserts a proxy cookie, and with
subsequent incoming requests, maps requests to the correct servers.
- VirtualHost support based on IP address and port
This feature allows virtualhost to work on the same machine with
different IP addresses or ports.
- Server-side connection management (Linux only)
This feature allows the proxy to maintain server-side connections and as
a result, to achieve better performance. The working threads do not block
on server-side sockets, and serve other requests when the response is not
quickly available.
- Caching enhancements
Various proxy-caching improvements, such as one GC thread per device,
have been implemented.
- Code and documentation corrections are integrated into the
V5.0 release.
Features removed from Edge Component, version 5.0:
- Cyber Patrol filtering plug-in
- Transactional Quality of Service (TQoS) plug-in
