Caching Proxy support of the OptimizeRuleMapping directive
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
This technote provides information on the OptimizeRuleMapping directive.

The minimum release levels that support this directive are: 4.0.2.58, 5.0.2.39, 5.1.1.18, 6.0.2.2.

If you configure a large number of mapping rules, Caching Proxy is slower to start and the proxy performance decreases. When the number of rules in the configuration is greater than 300, use the OptimizeRuleMapping directive to increase performance.

Resolving the problem
When you enable the OptimizeRuleMapping directive, instead of mapping incoming URI requests against each rule one-by-one, the proxy maps the URI against a prefix tree.
The prefix tree helps proxy remove the redundant string comparison among the mapping rules. As a result, Caching Proxy achieves better performance when the number of rules in your configuration is greater than 300.

Syntax:
OptimizeRuleMapping  [on | off ]

Default:  off
