Locating Oracle *.trc files used to troubleshoot an XAException
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
XAExceptions often do not give sufficient information to diagnose the problem. For example:

(XAException occurred. Error code is: XAER_RMERR. Exception is: <null>)

The *.trc files, which are located in the udump, bdump and cdump, must be gathered to see if they have a more meaningful error message.

This technote provides SQL commands for determining the location of the *.trc files.

Cause
Provides SQL for locating the *.trc files for troubleshooting XAExceptions.

Resolving the problem
Use the following SQL command to determine the location of the *.trc files for udump, bdump and cdump:
show parameters dump_dest

This SQL command can be issued using Oracle SQL*Plus as follows:
$ sqlplus system/password

where password is the password for the account system.

SQL> show parameters dump_dest

Name Type Value
background_dump_dest string D:\oracle\admin\IBM\bdump
core_dump_dest string D:\oracle\admin\IBM\cdump
user_dump_dest string D:\oracle\admin\IBM\udump
