MustGather: Load Balancer "dsserver" fails to start

Problem(Abstract)
Collecting data for problems with the WebSphere® Edge Components Load Balancer "dsserver" not starting. Gathering this information before calling IBM® support will help familiarize you with the troubleshooting process and save you time.
 
Cause
The following are a number of possible causes for problems starting the "dsserver":
  • The Java™ version is not supported
  • The Java process has already been started
  • The RMI port is already in use
  • The Java PATH is set incorrectly and points to a different version of Java on the machine
  • The hostname or IP address resolved by Java is incorrect (usually experienced with a multi-NIC machine)
  • The admin keys used by Load Balancer are corrupted

Resolving the problem
If you already contacted support, continue to the component-specific MustGather information. Otherwise, click MustGather: Read first for all WebSphere Application Server products.
Load Balancer MustGather information
Collect the following information:
  1. The command that fails and the output of the failure.

  2. The server.log file located in the following directory:
    • For Windows:

      C:\Program Files\IBM\edge\lb\servers\logs\dispatcher\

    • For UNIX platforms:

      install_root/IBM/edge/lb/servers/logs/dispatcher/

  3. Key files located in the following directory:
    • For Windows:

      C:\Program Files\IBM\edge\lb\admin\keys\

    • For UNIX platforms:

      install_root/IBM/edge/lb/admin/keys/

  4. The entire output from the following command(s):
    • For Windows:

      ipconfig /all

    • For UNIX platforms:

      route print
      ifconfig -a
      netstat -ni

  5. Output from the following command:

    java -fullversion

  6. The Java home:
    • For Windows:

      C:\>PATH<enter>

    • For UNIX platforms:

      echo $JAVA_HOME

  7. The hosts file located in the following directory:
    • For Windows:

      C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

    • For UNIX platforms:

      etc/

  8. The dsserver script.

  9. Follow instructions to send diagnostic information to IBM support.
