Is the Plug-in Code Edition Dependent?
 Technote (FAQ)

Problem
Is there one version of the plug-in code for WebSphere® Application Server, one for WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (ND), and a different one for WebSphere Application Server Enterprise Edition?

Solution
No. The plug-in component is edition independent. This means that the plug-in code is the same for WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Application Server ND, and WebSphere Application Server Enterprise Edition.

Note: However, it is important to the UpdateInstaller that you use the correct program temporary fix (PTF) when upgrading the plug-in component. For example, installing a plug-in component on a remote server, using the Base product image. This will require you to use the PTF for the same component to upgrade the plug-in code. Otherwise, you will receive an error indicating that the install of the expected component was unsuccessful.

If you are using the UpdateInstaller to install the PTF, you will see a current listing of installed WebSphere Application Server products. From the list, you will be able to verify the correct product PTF for installing the update.
