Problem(Abstract) |
If instructions for manually installing the plug-in for
IIS on Microsoft® Windows® fail, try a coexistence installation. |
|
Cause |
In most cases, the manual instructions described in Manually
configuring Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) will work to
install the plug-in. Sometimes, and almost always for unknown reasons,
Windows IIS will not accept the settings. In these situations, barring a
complete uninstall and reinstall for WebSphere® Application Server on the
system, the following solution is the easiest way to get IIS to forward
WebSphere Application Server requests. |
|
Resolving the
problem |
If instructions for manually installing the plug-in for
IIS on Windows fail, try a coexistence installation:
- Start a new installation, making it a plug-in only coexistence
installation installing into a new directory.
- Make sure that IIS is selected as the target Web server.
- Once complete, go into the Windows Registry and edit the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > IBM > WebSphere Application
Server > 5.x.0.0 key to the value to point to the full WebSphere
Application Server installation. This will allow the changes in the
plugin-cfg.xml file to be picked up dynamically.
This procedure adds a step to your maintenance on the system that will
require that the plug-in directory in the new
install_root/bin be updated with the latest
cumulative plug-in updates. However, the new configuration should work to
forward requests to IBM® WebSphere® Application Server. |
