PMI0023W messages appear in the WebSphere SystemOut.log file when using WebSphere Application Server
 Technote (FAQ)

Question
When using message-driven beans (MDBs) running inside of IBM® WebSphere® Application Server, the following warning message may appear in the Application Server SystemOut.log file:

PMI0023W: Unable to register PMI module due to duplicate name: <name>

Cause
This warning message occurs because message-driven beans are being registered with the WebSphere Performance Monitor twice: once by the Enterprise JavaBeans Container, and once when a message listener is being created.

The MDBListenerImpl class has been modified so that it no longer registers the MDB with the Performance Monitor.

Answer
This issue has been fixed in the following versions WebSphere Application Server:
  • Version 5.0.2, Cumulative Fix 10
  • Version 5.1.1, Cumulative Fix 4
  • WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0 and 6.1

Please refer to Recommended Fixes for WebSphere Application Server for more information about Cumulative Fixes for all versions of WebSphere Application Server.
