Web service not accessible through a Web browser
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
After installing a Web service, you cannot access it through a Web browser.

If the servlet mapping is not in the web.xml file, you see an exception similar to this:

Error talking to http: //labx01/testws: (302)Found
WebServicesFault
faultCode: {http: //websphere.ibm.com/webservices/}HTTP
faultString: (302)Found
faultActor: null
faultDetail:
null: WSWS3192E: Error: return code: 302

Cause
No Servlet mapping specified in the web.xml file for the Web service

Resolving the problem
Add a servlet mapping to the web.xml file for the Web service; for example:

<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>TestWebService</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/services/TestWebService</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

This provides access through the URL http: //localhost:9080/testws/services/TestWebService, where testws is the root context for the Web module.
