Error description
That the "characters" function of a SAX parser is
called
either when the character buffer becomes full or when the parser
encounters a "special" XML character like "&". Dynacache
trims the
string it receives in "characters" to remove excess white space
at the
beginning and end of an entry. Therefore, characters receives 3
strings
in the case mentioned above in the PMR:
1. "/Internet/Primary/RACV club "
2. "&"
3. " resorts/reciprocal clubs/"
Entries 1 and 3 are trimmed of excess white space
Local fix Problem summary

* USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server version 5 and 6 *
* users of dynamic cache who define *
* cachespec.xml files. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When white space and a special xml *
* character are used in a cache policy *
* element within cachespec.xml, the *
* white space is trimmed off. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
When white space and a special xml character are used in a
cache policy element within cachespec.xml, the white space
is trimmed off. This side effect is a result of how the xml
parser breaks up the string.
Problem conclusion
Apply this APAR and use to replace the spaces
surrounding the special xml character. For example,
"shop & save" becomes "shop & save"
The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion
in cumulative fixes 5.0.2.18 and 5.1.1.12 and fixpacks
6.0.2.13 and 6.1.0.1.
