Abstract
For WebSphere® Application Server version 5.0, the IBM®
JCE certificate will expire on May 18, 2006 at 21:59:19 GMT.

PK23895 resolves the following problem:
ERROR DESCRIPTION:
Need pre-5.0.2 JDK Interim Fix
Currently there is only the version 5.0.2 Cumulative Fix for SDKs.
There is no current method of distributing the latest service release of
the 1.3.1 JDK on version 5.0 or 5.0.1.
LOCAL FIX:
Currently customers must contact Help Desk to have the latest service
release sent, as well as the JDK Installer.
PROBLEM SUMMARY
USERS AFFECTED:
All users on WebSphere Application Server, versions 5.0.0 and 5.0.1
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
For WebSphere Application Server version 5.0, the IBM JCE certificate will
expire on May 18, 2006 at
21:59:19 GMT.
RECOMMENDATION:
Upgrade WebSphere Application Server, versions 5.0.0 and 5.0.1 to 5.0.2.5
or later.
Or:
Install the PK23895 iFix for WebSphere Application Server, versions 5.0.0
and 5.0.1 specific to your operating system. This Interim Fix will uplevel
your Java Virtual Machine to the latest service level (SR9-1) and provide
updates to the IBM JCE framework.
For WebSphere Application Server version 5.0, the IBM JCE certificate will
expire on May 18, 2006 at 21:59:19 GMT.
After that date, users will see errors when using Application Server
Security, SSL, J2C security or applications making calls to IBM's JSSE or
JCE directly.
PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The PK23895 iFix has been provided which will uplevel the Java Virtual
Machine for 5.0.0 and 5.0.1 to the latest SR of the 1.3.1 VM. It also
provides updates to the IBM JCE framework that address the
expiration.
