Problem(Abstract)
Configuring your browser to present a warning before accepting cookies can help troubleshoot HTTP session problems. Instructions are provided for Microsoft® Internet Explorer Versions 5 and 6 and Netscape Versions 4, 6, and 7.
 
Resolving the problem
Configuring Internet Explorer 6.0.x to present a warning before accepting cookies:
  1. Start Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Select Tools > Internet Options from the menu bar.
  3. Click Privacy tab.
  4. Click Advanced:



  5. Select Override automatic cookie handling and Prompt for First -party Cookies:



  6. Click OK on the Advanced Privacy Settings and Internet Options windows.

Configuring Internet Explorer 5.0.x to present a warning before accepting cookies:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Tools > Internet Options from the menu bar.
  3. Click the Security tab:



  4. Click Custom Level.
  5. Scroll down in the Settings window to the cookies area.
  6. Select the Prompt radio button in the "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" and "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" sections:




  7. Click OK in the Security Settings and the Internet Options windows.

Configuring Netscape 4 to present a warning before accepting cookies:

  1. Start the Netscape browser.
  2. Select Edit > Preferences from menu bar.
  3. Click Advanced in the Category window:




  4. Configure the browser to warn before accepting cookies by selecting Warn me before accepting a cookie:




  5. Click OK in the Preferences window.

Configuring Netscape 6 and 7 to present a warning before accepting cookies:

  1. Open the Netscape browser.
  2. Select Edit > Preferences from the menu bar.
  3. Expand Privacy & Security in the Category window:




  4. Click Cookies.
  5. Select Ask me before storing a cookie:




  6. Click OK on the Preferences window.
