Problem |
During installation of WebSphere® Application Server v5
releases, the installation fails with the following error written to the
log.txt file:
(Sep 14, 2004 8:03:07 AM), Setup.product.install,
com.installshield.product.actions.CopyDirectory, err, An error occurred
and product installation failed. Look at the log file /tmp/log.txt for
details.

Cause |
These errors are caused by selecting a target installation
root directory that is the same as the directory where the unzipped
installation image files are saved.
For example, this error would occur if the downloaded installation
files are unzipped into /opt/IBMWas5Trial/AppServer, then when
running the installation script "/opt/IBMWas5Trial/AppServer" is
selected as WebSphere Application Server installation root.

Select another directory for the installation root other
than the directory containing the unzipped installation files. Then, run
the installation again. |
