Crash on HP-UX specific MustGather information
Setup
Please ensure the following settings are in place to generate a full core
from a Application Server crash:
- Ensure that ulimit -c is set unlimited.
- Ensure that gdb (or wdb on HP-UX) is installed and setup
on your system.
- Ensure you have sufficient disk space on the machine.
Gather
- Downlaod the script 'hpjdk_mg.sh' and make the script executable using
the command:
chmod +x hpjdk_mg.sh
Note: Please make sure to download hpjdk_mg.sh as a binary file to
avoid complications.
- Run the above script, note that the hpjdk_mg.out file is generated in
the same directory.
- Follow these steps to package the core and the loaded shared objects
in memory:
- Enter the following command:
$ /opt/langtools/bin/gdb <path to java executable>
core.xxxx Note: java should point
to WAS_HOME/java. for e.g
gdb
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/java/bin/<Architecture>/java
core.xxx
where Architecture IA64N for 32-bit java
PA_RISC2.0 for RISC systems
- Once inside gdb and gdb loads successfully, issue the packcore command
to package the exe and the libraries:
(gdb) packcore
Note: Packcore command produces a compressed package that
should contain:
- The core file
- The modules.tar file which will package the object modules
loaded at that point of time
- The progname.txt file.
- wdb (or Wildebeest Debugger) is available free for
download from
HP
WDB download - latest release
- Collect the following information:
For all releases:
- hpjdk_mg.out
- packcore.tar.Z
- All hs_err_pid*.log files
For V6.0 and V6.1 releases:
Include all of the files from the following directory:
install_root/profiles/profile_name/logs/server_name |
For V5.0 and V5.1 releases:
Include all of the files from the following directory:
install_root/logs/server_name |
|
|
Note: For all versions, if you have configured the

accordingly. |
