PQ93707: IBM HTTP SERVER DOES NOT POINT TO APACHE WINDOWS DOC | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
APAR status Closed as fixed if next. Error description Running the IBM HTTP Server on a Windows based platforms requires the httpd.conf be configured with / forwardslashes instead of \ backslashes. using / forwardslashes is important to avoid unexpected behavior such as directory browsing. - The following apache.org site clearly states / forwardslashes are required when running on Windows.. - http://httpd.apache.org/docs/windows.html *The directives that accept filenames as arguments now must use Windows filenames instead of Unix ones. However, because Apache uses Unix-style names internally, you must use forward slashes, not backslashes. Drive letters can be used; if omitted, the drive with the Apache executable will be assumed. - The above information needs to be clearly documented in the IBM HTTP Server InfoCenter readme(s) ora direct link from the IBM HTTP Server InfoCenter should point to this page. This information will allow IBM HTTP Server customer's running on Windows to clearly know that / forwardslashes are required and will help avoid the unexpected behavior described earlier.Local fix Problem summary The HTTP Server Infocenter will be updated to clearly state that forward slashes must be used for path separators on Windows. A link will be added to the specific section in the Apache documentation explaining this further. Please refer to http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/platform/windows.html for information about the Windows platform and to http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/platform/windows.html#cust for information specifically about customizing Apache on Windows.Problem conclusion Temporary fix Comments
