![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Upon applying PTF 1 for WSAS 5.0, will see ClassCastExceptions when using non-IBM xerces due to problem in J2C XMLReader. Internal defect 162753 fixes the problem.Local fix Internal defect 162753Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users of an * * XML parser other than the one included with * * WebSphere Application Server 5.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a customer application uses a * * different XML parser from the one * * included with WAS 5.0, a * * ClassCastException may result. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The J2C Connection Manager had a dependency on the Xerces jar file that ships with WAS 5.0. The result of the dependency is that if a different XML parser is configured, a ClassCastException will occur for the first DataSource, J2C Connection Factory, or JMS Connection Factory on the server.Problem conclusion The J2C XMLReader was modified to use custom XML Parsers. This was fixed in an internal defect, 162753 .Temporary fix Comments
