Slowdown caused by threads lingering in DRS code
Local fix Problem summary

* USERS AFFECTED: All users of the Websphere Application *
* Server using Memory to memory replication *
* and Dynamic cache replication. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When subjected to high volume of HTTP *
* traffic,performance of the application *
* server degrades. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
This problem appears when the application server is subjected
to heavy HTTP request loads and when the administrator has
configured the application server to do memory to memory
session replication or dynamic cache replication. Performance
of the application server reduces by several factors of
magnitude and the application server appears to have hung to
the casual observer.
Problem conclusion
The problem is caused by a bottleneck in replication code
caused by uneven or partial distribution of workload across
an available pool of replication resources. This bottleneck
serves as a throttle for request processing under heavy load
conditions. The bug was causing idle resources to be unused
and in use resources to be overburdened due to uneven
distribution of workload. This APAR contains a fix for this
bottleneck which ensures even distribution of incoming HTTP
requests across available resources. This fix is available
as part of 5.0.2.7 and 5.1.0.5.
