Error description
When the cluster member is removed, the other members with the
same name are also getting deleted.
Here is the step I follow:
ENV: Node 1 - waslinux - ND/BASE 5.0.2.0.4 +
PQ80162
Node 2 - ibm-was - BASE 5.0.2.0.4 +
PQ80162
- Created a cluster - test_cluster
- Then created cluster member - test_server (on node 1 -
waslinux)
- Again created cluster member - test_server (on node 2 -
ibm-was)
- Save Synchronized.
- Remove node 1 (waslinux), run removeNode.sh
- From AdminConsole - check the cluster - I still see the
cluster
(test_cluster) which is ok, then I went to see the cluster
member - panel is blank which the issue is is reported.
This time we should seen the test_server for node 2 - ibm-was
which does not showing after removing node 1 from cell. This
is defect.

* USERS AFFECTED: Websphere Application Server users who have *
* duplicate cluster member names or appserver *
* names and are performing removeNode *
* operations. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: We have a cluster-members having the *
* same name, defined on different *
* nodes. When deleting one member, it *
* is deleting all the members with the *
* same name irrespective of the node it *
* is defined on. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
We have cluster-members having the same name, defined on
different nodes. When deleting one member, it is deleting all
the members with the same name irrespective of the node it is
defined on. This problem is seen when we do removenode
operation, as the removeNode operation deletes all the
appservers defined on the node.
Problem conclusion
The problem is rectified by checking the node information of
the cluster member before deleting it from the configuration.
This ensures that only those appservers that belong to the
node that is being unfederated will be deleted.
