Invalid J2C authentication alias
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
New authentication alias is configured, but after restart, the old alias continues to be used.

Cause
When you save a configuration, the datasource configuration, including the authentication alias name, is stored in one of the resources.xml files. Which one depends on what level the resource is configured at....cell, node, or server. The authentication alias configuration, userid and password, is stored in a file called security.xml. If a problem occurs while saving the new configuration, server abend, etc., logs are saved in binary files that contain enough information so that when the server restarts, transactions and some configuration is not lost.

Resolving the problem
The recovery files are located in the directories found in the Websphere\Appserver\tranlog\{servername}\transaction directory. There you find two directories, tranlog and partnerlog. Go into each one of these directories, with the server stopped, and delete the log files contained in each.
