APAR status Closed as program error. Error description After the install of Websphere or ND or fixpacksthe customer always runs the IVT.sh (Install Verification Tool) to validate his install. The IVT runs through the products installed and reports successful or unsuccessful for each. When completed it generates a return code of 0, even if unsuccessful installs were reported by the IVT. The cust has scripts built that reads the return cd to drive other processes. The customer has request ed that the IVT return meaningful codes for a sucessful run and unsuccessful run. The customer is making the following suggestio n for these codes. rc = 0 for successful rc = 135 for example if error IVTL0135Eis thrown.Local fix There is no work around at this time.Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users installing WebSphere Application * * Server 5.0 full install and running Install * * Verification Test ( IVT ) code to verify * * their installation. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IVT always has a return code of 0 * * (zero), never taking into account a * * successful or failed execution. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When running IVT against a full installation of WebSphere, the return code would always be 0 (zero). The reason for this is the IVT code did not set the return code upon exiting to reflect a successful or failed install verification.Problem conclusion IVT has now been updated to return 0 for success and 1 for failure upon executing it. In other words, if user runs ivt.bat or ivt.sh, they can now check the return code for a successful or failed install verification.Temporary fix Comments
