Applications do not display in administration console
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
When viewing applications in the WebSphere® Application Server administrative console, not all of the applications that have been installed are listed.

Cause
There is an application that is listed in the <WAS_ROOT>/config/cells/<cell_name>/applications directory that no longer exists, or an application listed contains a corrupt deployment.xml file. Many times the corruption is that the deployment.xml file size is 0.

Resolving the problem
Verify that all applications listed are actually deployed and have a deployment.xml file that is not 0. If an application does have a file size of 0 and is no longer needed, delete it from the applications directory under <WAS_ROOT>/config directory and <WAS_ROOT>/config/cells/<cell_name> directory. Also, any entry in the <WAS_ROOT>/config/cells/<cell_name>/nodes/<node_name>/serverindex.xml file should also be removed to get rid of the corrupted application from the configuration.

If the application is needed, remove it and reinstall via wsadmin. (See the appropriate InfoCenter for further details.) Also, verify the deployment.xml file does not have any foreign entries.
