Why do resources in WebSphere Application Server 5.0
Network Deployment have scope? |

Resolving the
problem |
Resources in WebSphere Application Server Network
Deployment have scope. The configuration definition for the resources is
stored in a resources.xml file that can be scoped at the cell, node or
server level. The reason is administrative convenience. Particularly in a
clustered environment, you probably want to define your resources at the
cell or at least the node level. This means that you define and configure
them in one place and the File Synchronization ensures that the definition
is available to all servers in the cell (or node if defined at that
scope). Resources defined at the server scope are only available to that
one process. Defining resources scoped at the server level would not be
appropriate for clusters, because it would mean that any change to the
resource configuration would have to be made several times. |
