Running IBM HTTP Server (AFPA enabled) and IIS on the same machine
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
IIS and the IBM® HTTP Server are both running on the same machine, listening on port 80. IIS is listening for incoming traffic on one IP address while the IBM HTTP Server is listening for incoming traffic on another IP address defined by the Listen directive (for example: Listen 123.567.78.67). Both are using the same network card.

Cause
When the IBM HTTP Server is started the Cache Accelerator (AFPA) loads and listens on all IP addresses for the given port. In this case, port 80. As a result, AFPA attempts to listen for all traffic on port 80, including the IIS Web server traffic.

Resolving the problem
  • Option 1: Disable AFPA.

  • Option 2: Leave AFPA enabled and modify the IBM HTTP Server to listen on a different port.
