Problem(Abstract) |
The IBM WebSphere Application Server V5 installer does not
support coexistent installation of IBM HTTP Server V1.3.26, even though
you can select to do so on the installation panel.
For example, after installing WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Base
Edition successfully, you can perform a second installation, and select
the coexist option with new ports and a new installation directory for
WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server. However, if you do this
and then select to install everything on the second installation, the
installer does not install a second instance of IBM HTTP Server. This
happens even though you selected it from the list of components to
install. |

|
Cause |
The WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Base Edition
installer does not support coexistent installation and configuration of
IBM HTTP Server V1.3.26. Therefore, the installer reports 0.0 MB for the
required space during the IBM HTTP Server installation. IBM HTTP Server is
not installed and the directory for the IBM HTTP Server server is not
created. The installation log states the following:
The IHS configuration file was not
found or was not properly specified with the -ihsConfigFile
option. |

Resolving the
problem |
To install multiple instances of IBM HTTP Server, you must
install IBM HTTP Server a second time using the IBM HTTP Server Installer.
After installing a second instance of IBM HTTP Server, install WebSphere
Application Server, and select the second IBM HTTP Server configuration
file (httpd.conf). The WebSphere Application Server installer
does the necessary configuration. This process avoids the requirement to
manually configure the httpd.conf file. |
