Installation of fix pack fails on Enterprise Edition

Problem(Abstract)
Fix pack fails to install successfully. Error shown is:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/ibm/etools/emf/ecore/ENamedElement
 
Cause
Installation of the fix pack fails if an incorrect fix pack build is applied to an wrong edition, such as Base, Network Deployment or Enterprise Edition.
 
Resolving the problem
The following scenarios are for an AIX® platform.

There are two installation scenarios to consider. The first scenario is the most common.

Scenario 1. An existing installation
  1. Stop all WebSphere, Web server, java.exe and Apache or HTTP processes and install the updated prereqchecker file. See IBM Installing WebSphere 5.0.x on AIX 5.2.
  2. Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Base Edition.
  3. Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Network Deployment Edition (if applicable).
  4. Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Enterprise Edition.
  5. Review installation logs for errors. If there are no errors, start WebSphere Application Server and verify installation and operability.
  6. After you verify the installation, stop WebSphere, the Web server, java.exe and Apache or HTTP processes.
  7. Install the latest version of the updateInstaller.
  8. Install was50_fp2_aix.tar to V5.0 Base Edition in accordance with the readme.txt instructions. Verify that no errors occur during installation.
  9. Install was50_nd_fp2_aix.tar to V5.0 Network Deployment Edition (if applicable) in accordance with the readme.txt instructions. Verify that no errors occur during installation.
  10. Install was50_pme_fp2_aix.tar to V5.0 Enterprise Edition in accordance with the readme.txt instructions to Base and Network Deployment. Verify that no errors occur during installation.
  11. Install the recommended fixes for V5.0.2 Enterprise Edition in accordance with the readme.txt instructions. Click here to download the fixes.
  12. Start WebSphere Application Server.

You can use the steps preceding steps for new installations or use steps 6-through-12 to install a fix pack or fix upgrade to an existing installation of Enterprise Edition.

Scenario 2. A new installation
  1. Stop all WebSphere, Web server, java.exe and apache or http processes and install the updated prereqchecker file. See IBM Installing WebSphere 5.0.x on AIX 5.2.
  2. Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Base Edition.
  3. Install the latest version of the updateInstaller.
  4. Install was50_fp2_aix.tar to V5.0 Base in accordance with the readme.txt instructions. Verify that no errors occur during installation.
  5. Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Network Deployment Edition (if applicable).
  6. Install was50_nd_fp2_aix.tar to V5.0 Network Deployment Edition (if applicable) in accordance with the readme.txt instructions. Verify that no errors occur during installation.
  7. Install WebSphere Application Server V5.0 Enterprise Edition.
  8. Install was50_pme_fp2_aix.tar to V5.0 Enterprise Edition in accordance with the readme.txt instructions to Base and Network Deployment. Verify that no errors occur during installation
  9. Install the recommended fixes for V5.0.2 Enterprise Edition per readme.txt instructions to Base and Network deployment. Click here to download the fixes.
  10. Start WebSphere Application Server.
