JVM™ not found error during installation of Enterprise Edition fix pack fails on Linux® platforms

Problem(Abstract)
Installation of fix pack 2 for Enterprise Edition fails on Linux. The Summary Panel has the following message:

Errors occurred during the installation.

- JVM not found
 
Cause
On Linux, there is a known problem documented in the 5.0.2 release notes. When both Base and Network Deployment editions are installed on the system, the installation must be done in the order below.
 
Resolving the problem
  1. Install Network Deployment (ND) edition.

  2. Ensure that the server starts and stops properly.

  3. Install Enterprise Edition (EE) on top of ND.

  4. Ensure that the server starts and stops properly.

  5. Install the necessary ND fix packs.

  6. Install the necessary Enterprise Edition (EE) fix packs.

  7. Ensure that the server starts and stops properly.

  8. Install Base Edition.

  9. Install EE on Base.

  10. Install the Base fix packs.

  11. Install the EE fix packs.

  12. Ensure that the server starts and stops properly.
