Error description
Customer applied the latest Cumulative WebSphere 5.0 fix
dated Feb 3, 2004. The customer found out, that their rewrite
rules in IHS 2.0.42.2 did not work properly. It means, that
the requests in IHS 2.0.42.2 by Rewrite engine was not
re-written correctly before was routed thru WebSphere plugin
to WebSphere 5.0.x Application Server.
.
We found out, that after the customer rolled back the Feb 3,2004
plugin fix, Rewrite rules worked properly again. Currently the
customer is using Plugin build dated Sep 3,2003 that does not
have this problem, so we suspect that this APAR broke IHS 2.0
mod_rewrite module:
PQ82880 - Could not access application through IBM HTTP Server
2.0 plugin
.
I did not verify if also IHS 2.0 mod_alias module is broken
but it is likely.
.
We will need to create a fix for this problemso that Rewrite
& Redirect directives in IHS 2.0 with V5.1 & V5.1plugin
are applied correctly before the request is routed to WebSphere.
.
Customer's environment:
- IHS 2.0.42.2 on AIX 5.1 platform
.
Fix this problem on all platforms (Windows/Unix/Linux) for
WebSphere 5.0 plugin.
.
I did not verify, if the same problem occurs also in WebSphere
4.0 & 5.1 releases. If yes, we will need to fix it also in
those releases.
Local fix
Roll back to the plugin build before
PQ82880, such as any
previous PTF, SP, or plugin fix (e.g. Sep 3, 2003)

* requests intended for Application *
* Server, and the requests would not get *
* re-written correctly before getting *
* routed by Application Server plug-in *
* to appserver. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
IHS mod_rewrite or mod_alias did not work with plug-in
correctly.
Problem conclusion
Plug-in now allows mod_rewrite or mod_alias to process the
client requests before routing the requests to Application
Server.
