The White Paper is available at the links (PDF or
Wordpro versions) given below.
This document lays out the various tradeoffs involved with, and the
options available for, building highly available production e-business
solutions utilizing IBM’s WebSphere Network Deployment V5.0 (ND) product.
This document is directed towards WebSphere architects and advanced
WebSphere planners. There are three key concepts that one should be
comfortable when proceeding to use this document: high availability,
failover, and clusters.
High availability (HA). An application or service that is
provided in a near-continuous fashion.
Failover. When a process becomes unavailable, requests are
directed away from the unavailable process and toward the other,
available, processes in the cluster.
Clusters. A cluster is a collection of servers working together as
a single system to ensure that mission-critical applications and resources
remain available to clients.
