![]() APAR status Closed as fixed if next. Error description IHS 2.0.42.2 on HP 11.0, child runs out of memory, parent sees fatel error and exits also --- this is the sequence of events: 1. the number of idle httpd threads dropped below MinSpareThreads (25) 2. the httpd parent noticed this and decided to fork another child 3. the new child started initializing, ran out of memory, and exited telling the parent that it encountered a fatal error 4. the parent saw the fatal error and exited also. this could be handled more gracefully. from the error log: ■Tue Mar 29 09:54:48 2005 ■alert (12)Not enough space: apr_thread_create: unable to create worker thread ■Tue Mar 29 09:54:59 2005 ■alert Child 11700 returned a Fatal error... Apache is exiting!Local fix N/AProblem summary The IHS parent process exits if a new child process encounters a transient thread creation error. This APAR is fixed by the PK07831 e-fix for IHS 2.0.47 and 2.0.42.Problem conclusion Temporary fix Comments
