Problem |
The serverindex.xml is being populated with ^M characters
at the end of each statement when viewed from windows machine to AIX
machine. |
|
Cause |
These characters are placed in a file during a DOS to
UNIX® conversion (these characters can only be viewed using an editor such
as VI or using the cat ?v command to view the file). It is the normal
behavior of VI editor to add ^M as carriage returns across platforms.
WebSphere® itself doesn't insert these characters into files in either
federation or plugin generation, if we open the touched files using "more"
command, the files do not have the extra characters, the content of the
files themselves is fine and intact. If user tries to view the file in VI
and see the ^M, that is normal and won't affect the system function
itself. |
|
Solution |
Open the file where you see the ^M characters in VI editor
and use following command to delete the characters in UNIX:
UNIX commands:
#vi filename
<esc>
:%s/<ctrl v m>//g
<enter>
:wq
<enter> |
