Problem(Abstract) |
IBM® WebSphere® Application Server fails to start due to
com.ibm.ws.process.exception.ProcessOpException. |
|
Cause |
This is possibly caused by mistakenly creating an empty
Java™ file in the JAVA_HOME/bin directory. |
|
Resolving the
problem |
During the Application Server startup, the server can fail
without writing anything to the SystemOut.log file. You can find the
following exception in the startServer.log file.
[8/17/04 9:22:48:812 EDT] 4d05b48b WsServerLaunc E ADMU3002E: Exception
attempting to process server server1

- Check the Install_Root /java/bin folder for any empty file with
name java other than the Java executable (java.exe on Windows®).
- Remove the empty Java file. Do not remove the Java executable.
- Start the server.
In one particular case, the INS (Intelligent Notification Services)
component was installed to an existing V5.0.2.2 configuration. The INS
component created the empty Java file in the Install_Root /java/bin
folder.
If server startup fails with ProcessOpException: Error creating new
process, check for any Java files in Install_Root /java/bin
folder. |
