Problem(Abstract)
Collecting data for administrative console problems in releases of IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 and V5.1. Gathering this information before calling IBM support helps familiarize you with the troubleshooting process and saves you time.

Administrative console specific MustGather information
  1. Describe the problem.

  2. Enable tracing and recreate the problem:
    1. To enable the trace for console in a non-federated base server:
      1. Stop the server.
      2. Edit the server.xml file under the following directory:

        install_root/config/cells/cell_name/nodes/node_name/servers/server_name/

      3. Change the following trace specification:
        • From:
          startupTraceSpecification="*=info"

        • To:
          startupTraceSpecification="Webui=all=enabled:Admin=all=enabled:com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.*=all=enabled"

      4. Exit and save, then restart the server.

    2. To enable the trace for console in a federated deployment manager installation:
      1. Stop the deployment manager.

      2. Edit the server.xml file under the following directory:

        install_root/config/cells/cell_name/nodes/node_name/servers/dmgr/

      3. Change the following trace specification:
        • From:
          startupTraceSpecification="*=info"

        • To:
          startupTraceSpecification="Webui=all=enabled:Admin=all=enabled:com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.*=all=enabled"

      4. Exit and save, then restart the deployment manager.

    3. Recreate the problem with the administrative console.

  3. Send in the required documentation
    1. Take a screen shot of the error being seen on the administrative console.

    2. Run collector.sh/collector.bat tool from install_root/bin.
    3. Send in the resulting JAR file, screen shot and problem description.
