Problem(Abstract) |
The IBM® WebSphere® Application Server plug-in log reports
that the date supplied in the If-Modified-Since header field of a request
from the client, or the Last-Modified header field of a response from
WebSphere Application Server, is in an unrecognizable date format. |
|
|
|
Cause |
The application does not use the Requests for Comments
(RFC) compliant date formats when setting values for the following header
fields:
- If-Modifed-Since
- Last-Modified
|
|
|
Resolving the
problem |
The unrecognized date format warning could be logged when
processing the request from the client and also a response from the
WebSphere Application Server.
The general recommendation is to revise the custom application so that it
uses an RFC compliant format in the header fields Last-Modified
and If-Modified-Since.
Below are the 3 RFC compliant formats:
- Sun, 06 Nov 1994 08:49:37 GMT ; RFC 822, updated by RFC
1123
- Sunday, 06-Nov-94 08:49:37 GMT ; RFC 850, obsoleted by RFC
1036
- Sun Nov 6 08:49:37 1994 ; ANSI C's asctime() format
