|
Problem(Abstract) |
It is recognized that customers might still require fix
packs and cumulative fixes that are no longer available as downloads from
the IBM WebSphere Application Server support pages. This solution explains
how the fix packs and cumulative fixes can be obtained. |
|
|
|
Cause |
At times, customers systems can not be upgraded due to
limitations with internal processes, or support for third-party products
that co-exist with WebSphere Application Server. This might require the
download of fix packs and cumulative fixes that have been removed from the
support pages. |

Resolving the
problem |
The practice of obtaining code off of the FTP server is
not encouraged. However, it is recognized that there are reasons when it
is necessary:
- Need to rebuild a system after a failure
- Dependency on an older solution
- Roll-back after finding a problem in the cumulative fixes
currently available
In these cases, fix packs and cumulative fixes are available from the FTP
server. On occasion, fix packs and cumulative fixes might be designated as
hazardous to the stability of the WebSphere Application Server
installation due to code changes and removed from the FTP server.
Example:
The following will show you how to look up a download for WebSphere
Application Server V5.1 Cumulative Fix 1 (5.1.0.1) for Base and Network
Deployment editions:
- Using an FTP Client, go to the following:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/appserv/support/
Note: This is the base URL for WebSphere Application Server fixes.
- From this directory, you will see the fixes and
fixpacks directory. These are the files you will be working with.
- From here you can drill down to find fixes and fix packs. See the
following example to view WebSphere Application Server Base 5.1.0.1
Cumulative Fix.
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/appserv/support/fixpacks/was51/cumulative/cf5101/
- From here you can drill down by platform. In each folder is a download
for the Network Deployment and Base installations.
