This document explains why you might want to switch to
WebSphere® Application Server Express Edition when you are currently using
Tomcat as your Servlet and Java™ ServerPages (JSP) engine. |

Resolving the
problem |
Consider switching for several reasons:
- The WebSphere Studio Site Developer (WSSD) has tools,
editors and wizards that make the development of Web applications far
easier and more user-friendly. With Tomcat you have to develop content and
code manually.
- WSSD has built-in support for Tomcat, enabling you to
develop and modify Web applications in WSSD and continue to run them on
Tomcat.
- With WebSphere Express Edition you have a clear migration
path to other WebSphere products when you later decide your application
needs more function, such as distributed server capabilities or Enterprise
Java Bean (EJB) support
Using the Express Test Environment Application Server helps you migrate
