Problem |
After a successful installation of PerfServletApp, the
application fails to provide data when requested due to incorrect security
settings in the soap.client.props file. |
|
Cause |
Installation of PerfServletApp.ear on an IBM® WebSphere®
Application Server completed successfully; however, when called, the
application does not return performance data. After enabling PMI tracing,
the error message shown indicates that it cannot get any node or server
information and cannot create the SOAP connector.
The PerfServletApp was invoked as follows:
http:
//hostname/wasPerfTool/servlet/perfservlet?host=<hostname>&port=<portnumber>
The error message is as follows:
[1/8/04 15:16:00:370 CST] 251364 ManagerAdmin I TRAS0018I: The trace state
has changed. The new trace state is
com.ibm.ws.pmi.*=all=enabled:com.ibm.websphere .pmi.*=all=enabled.

Solution |
Review of the soap.client.props file on the Application
Server showed that the user ID and password had been entered, but security
had not been enabled. Security was enabled on the deployment manager but
was not enabled on the node. After security was enabled on the node and
the node recycled, the PerfServletApp worked.
The soap.client.props file is located in the:
\WebSphere\AppServer\properties directory. The section of the file that
must be altered to enable security is:
# SOAP Client Security Enablement
#
# - security enabled status ( false[default], true )
#------------------------------------------------------------------------------
com.ibm.SOAP.securityEnabled=false (Change to true)
# JMX SOAP connector identity
com.ibm.SOAP.loginUserid= (enter user ID)
com.ibm.SOAP.loginPassword= (enter password for user ID) |
