|
Problem(Abstract) |
Netscape browsers do not recognize cookie domains that do
not contain at least two periods. Netscape treats the cookie as if the
domain is not specified. This can cause the client browser to send the
cookie to inappropriate servers. |
|
|
|
Cause |
The Netscape cookie specification declares that a cookie
domain must contain two periods. For example, mycompany.com will
not be recognized as a valid cookie domain, and will be discarded by
Netscape. However, .mycompany.com will work. |

Resolving the
problem |
Other browsers, such as Microsoft® Internet Explorer, do
recognize cookie domains that do not contain at least two periods. As a
result, the cookie is only sent to servers in the domain it was intended
for.
Ensure that your cookie domain has at least two periods. Some browsers
automatically add the preceding period to correct a cookie domain that is
not valid.
