![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description Here's the scenario -dmgr and appserver1 on 1 box, appserver2 on another box -start dmgr, wlmc and opcenter... all running correctly -unplug the ehternet cable to appServer2 -in wlmc.log i start getting NODE_UNAVAILABLE and SERVER_UNAVAILABLE RCs as expected -after some time, plug ethernet cable back in -I expect *UNAVAILABLE to go away and change to SUCCESS, but they do not. So, the disconnected/reconnected appServer is not recovered in opCenter when it is reconnected.Local fix Problem summary **************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of work load manager who experience * * a disconnected network adapter will not be * * able to balance across WebSphere * * application servers correctly. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In a deployed environment where one or * * more WebSphere application servers are * * unavailable because of a disconnected * * network adapter, the Performance * * Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) metric * * data cannot be returned back to the * * WorkLoad Manager Controller (WLMC) * * even after the adapter is reconnected. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: To ensure the proper recovery of PMI * * metric data to the WorkLoad Manager * * Controller in either a test or * * production environment where the * * network adapter becomes disconnected, * * you must install interim fix * * PQ76488. * **************************************************************** In a deployed environment where there are one or more WebSphere application servers and WorkLoad Manager is enabled, if a network adapter becomes disconnected or has a hardware failure, OpCenter detects that all application servers on that node are unavailable. However, even when the network adapter is reconnected/replaced, OpCenter fails to detect and change the state of those application servers to available. The end result is PMI metric data is not collected and submitted to WorkLoad Manager. This will cause inaccurate work load balancing among the application servers in the deployed environment.Problem conclusion In order to ensure that OpCenter correctly updates the states of application servers on a node that has experienced a disconnected network adapter, interim fix PQ74688 should be applied.Temporary fix Without applying this interim fix, after the network adapter is reconnected again, the customer can restart the Deployment Manager. Notification of the correct running states will be detected by the OpCenter.Comments
