Test connection for a version 4 data source to OS/390 DB2 database returns COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL0332N
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Under certain circumstances, the test connection feature on the WebSphere® Application Sever v5 administrative console will fail. If you are using a version 4 data source that connects to an OS/390® (zSeries®) DB2® v7.2 database with any fix pack prior to 10a, you will be affected.

Cause
When testing a version 4 data source from the WebSphere Application Server administrative console to a DB2 version 6 or 7 database on OS/390, the following message is returned:

COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL0332N There is no available conversion for the source code page "1208 UNKNOWN 3" to the target code page "". Reason Code "". SQLSTATE=57017

The DB2 client is version 7.2, any fix pack before 10a.

You have set up the db2cli.ini on the client with the following settings:

[AMCDB2T]
SYSSCHEMA=SYSIBM
TABLETYPE="'TABLE','VIEW','ALIAS'"
DBALIAS=AMCDB2T
DISABLEUNICODE=1
TRANSLATEOPTION=437

You are able to connect to DB2 on the OS/390 and select data from tables using the db2 command line.

Resolving the problem
Install DB2 v7.2 Fix Pack 10a or later to resolve this issue.
