Problem(Abstract) |
After adding a new Console User in IBM® WebSphere®
Application Server V5, users cannot login to the administrative
console. |
|
|
|
Cause |
When adding a new Console User, the system must be
rebooted in order for that user creation to take effect. There is no way
to add an individual Console User dynamically. |
|
|
Resolving the
problem |
A work around for this is to add a Console User, then add
the user to a group that is already defined in the WebSphere
Administrative Console. As part of that group, the user should be able to
login without a reboot.
In addition, there is no functionality in wsadmin to add Console Users or
Groups.
Console Users and Console Groups information are stored in
admin-authz.xml
Install_root /config/cells/<cellname>/admin-authz.xml
As indicated in the V5.0 Information Center, the admin-authz.xml file
cannot be modified using any administrative tools, including wsadmin or
Java™ APIs:

This is not a defect and the product is working as designed. |
