Problem(Abstract) |
On some Linux® platforms, Caching Proxy might generate
this error message in its error log.
Cannot init groups for user nobody, errno: 1
You can disregard the error message because there is no affect on normal
operation of Caching Proxy. This technote describes a workaround to
eliminate the error message. |

Cause |
On some Linux platforms where the NTPL pthread library is
used by default, Caching Proxy might generate the following spurious error
message in its error log:
Cannot init groups for user nobody, errno: 1
When a proxy server starts, each working thread tries to run as user
ID/process ID (UID/PID) nobody/nobody. On older Linux systems, the
LinuxThreads pthread library must be used by default; however, if the NTPL
pthread library is used, after the main process lowers the UID/PID to
nobody/nobody, when working threads try to do the same, the error
message is generated.
This problem occurs with Linux kernel 2.6. |

Resolving the
problem |
This error message does not affect normal operation;
however, to avoid it you can export the following environment variables
before starting Caching Proxy:
export RPM_FORCE_NPTL=1
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 |
