Error description
Recreation Steps on WebSphere Application Server 5.0.2.X.
1 ) Start DeploymentManager.
2) Modify any sample application useMetadataFromBinaries to
true.
3) Modify the virtual host(default_host) of the application to
any other virtual host (test_host).
4) Regen the plugin using adminconsole or genPluginCfg command.
The VirtualHostGroup in the plugin-cfg.xml
file will still point to the old virtual host (default_host).
It fails on WebSphere Application Server 5.1.x also.
Local fix
Change the virtualHostName in ibm-web-bnd.xmi file under
install-root/config/cells/cellname/application/applicationName/a
pplicatioName.ear/deployments/applicationName/warModulewar/WEB-I
NF folder
Problem summary
****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server *
* plug-ins for the web servers. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The plug-in config file generation *
* doesn't use the updated values *
* for the virtual hosts definitions, *
* when the application is defined with *
* the option UseMetaDataFromBinaries *
* set to be true. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
The plug-in config file generation picks up application
data from an incorrect location when UseMetaDataFromBinaries
is defined.
This happens only in the WebSphere Network deployment
environment only and not in the stand-alone environment.
Problem conclusion
The plug-in config generator is enhanced to look for
application data within the EAR file in the config
repository. This ensures that latest updates are picked up by
the plug-in config file generation.
The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion
in cumulative fix 5.1.1.12 and fixpacks 6.0.2.17 and 6.1.0.3.
