Problem(Abstract) |
You are installing Fix Pack 2 (V5.0.2) to a release of
WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 on the Microsoft® Windows® platform.
During the installation, the WebSphere MQ update refuses to process. The
following exception occurs:
"Exception: WUPD0246E: Fix pack update failure: An exception occurred
while preprocessing the content of fix pack was50_fp2_win, component
external.mq" |
|
|
|
Cause |
This problem has occurred on some Windows installations
where the WebSphere MQ update refuses to process. Some parts of the
process, hidden on Windows systems (such as the amqmtbrn.exe
process), remain locked in memory. This prevents the WebSphere MQ part of
the fix pack installation from completing. This problem typically results
in the following error messages in the external.mq update log:
MessageBox: 'IBM WebSphere MQ files
are in use. Stop activity and retry. (AMQ4757)'
Ending with RC 1603 (0x00000643) |

Resolving the
problem |
- Uninstall any partial installations of the fix pack.
- Set all WebSphere-related services, Web servers and WebSphere
Application Server, to manual in the Windows Services Control Panel.
- Restart the system. Since all the related services are no longer
loaded, the fix pack installation can proceed.
- After the installation completes, reset the WebSphere-related windows
services back to their original settings.
