Error description
Customer is working with Matthew M Meyer/Richmond. Matthew has
been in touch with level 3 directly about getting a fix for a
problem in WebSphere 5.0.x - it is not returning an indirect IOR
(interoperable object reference)
in a clustered environment.
The customer is having problems with load balancing because the
HOME interface IOR is not an indirect IOR.
Perry Dykes/Rochester/IBM requested this APAR be opened.
Local fix Problem summary
****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere users who utlize a WLM cluster *
* environment with EJB stateless session *
* beans. *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In a WLM environment, EJB statless *
* session beans have a direct IOR vs. *
* an indirect IOR. This precludes *
* stateless session bean requests from *
* participating in a WLM environment. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: *
****************************************************************
Websphere customers who need to work load balance stateless
session bean requests require an indirect IOR. This fix
ensures that the IOR associated with a stateless session
bean in a WLM enviroment provides an indirect vs.
direct IOR as previously provided.
Problem conclusion
A change has been made to associate an indirect IOR with
the stateless session beans vs. a direct IOR. This enables
the stateless sessoin bean method requests function
correctly in a WLM environment.
Temporary fix
Customer was provided a temporary fix set and they are
happy with it. They are currently in a test effort to ensure
they fix fully meets their requirements.
