![]() APAR status Closed as program error. Error description "mod_ibm_ldap doesn't immediately retry LDAP connection on unexpected error". Applies to IHS 1.3.26, 1.3.28, 2.0.42, 2.0.47 and 6.0Local fix Problem summary mod_ibm_ldap caches connections to LDAP servers to minimize connection establishment. LDAP servers or LDAP load balancers may drop the connection to mod_ibm_ldap at an arbitrary time, such that when mod_ibm_ldap tries to use a cached connection it will receive an I/O error. Prior to this APAR fix, mod_ibm_ldap would immediately return a 503 error to the web browser when this occurred, and the end user would see the error and have to decide what action to take.Problem conclusion mod_ibm_ldap will be changed with this APAR fix to attempt to reestablish a connection to the LDAP server when it receives an I/O error attempting to use a previously cached LDAP connection. If the connection was dropped by the server due to a timeout or temporary problem, the reestablish attempt will succeed and the 503 error to the client will be avoided. If the connection cannot be reestablished due to a more serious problem with the network or LDAP server, the 503 error will still be returned to the client.Temporary fix Comments
