Resolving the
problem |
A customer began receiving intermittent SSL failures after
upgrading WebSphere® Application Server 5.0.0 ND and Base to 5.0.1. The
customer was using the updateSilent.sh command to install the fix pack.
When the fix pack was uninstalled, the problem disappeared.
When installing Fix Pack 1, the customer saw the following output in the
log file:
2003-07-11T17:46:27-04:00 java_home=("/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java")
2003-07-11T17:46:27-04:00 Skipping update-only entry which would add
a new file: "/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java"/jre/lib/ext/ibmjsse.jar
2003-07-11T17:46:27-04:00 Next entry name:
$<java_home>/jre/lib/ext/ibmjsse.jar
2003-07-11T17:46:27-04:00 entry path:
"/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java"/jre/lib/ext/ibmjsse.jar
2003-07-11T17:46:27-04:00 Skipping: Update only file does not exist:
"/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java"/jre/lib/ext/ibmjsse.jar
It appears that the ibmjsse.jar file is not being updated.
The java_home variable in this file appears to reference the correct
location, but the path value is enclosed in quotation marks. We
recommended editing the setupCmdLine.sh file and removing the quotation
marks from the path value. The value should appear on the second line of
the file.
Here are the first few lines from the setupCmdLine.sh file:
#!/bin/sh
WAS_HOME="/opt/WebSphere/AppServer"
JAVA_HOME="/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java"
WAS_CELL=portal_cell_qa
WAS_NODE=qaappsrv4
After removing the quotation marks from "/opt/WebSphere/AppServer" and
"/opt/WebSphere/AppServer/java" in the setupCmdLine.sh script, the
customer was able to successfully install Fix Pack 1. The update to the
ibmjsse.jar file completed successfully and the
SSLHandshakeException resolved. |
