Setting verbose logging for the WebSphere embedded MQ installation

Problem
Problems can sometimes occur when installing the embedded messaging that comes with WebSphere® Application Server. To help IBM® better determine the problem, verbose logging can be turned on during the installation.
 
Solution
Create an environmental variable called WMDEBUG and set the value to 2. On Microsoft® Windows®, additional logging can be gathered by going to the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

Create a new string value here called Logging and set the value to microwaveup.

Note: Make sure that before you change anything in the registry, you perform a registry backup and that you understand how to restore the registry if you encounter problems. For more information, refer to the Microsoft Web site. A technote on the Windows registry is located at:
