Setting up security using a non root user id
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
By default, each base Application Server node on Linux® and Unix® platforms uses the root user ID to run the nodeagent process, the jmsserver process, and all application server processes. However, the nodeagent, the jmsserver, and all the application server processes can be run using the non-root user and user group.

Resolving the problem
When running as non-root, if global security is enabled, the user registry must not be Local OS. Using the Local OS user registry requires the nodeagent and the deployment manager process to run as root. When running as non-root, you must use an LDAP or custom registry for the authentication mechanism for WebSphere security when running as non-root.
