Using wsadmin to modify the attributes of the V4.0 data source
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Modifying the attributes of a version 4.0 data source is different from modifying the attributes of a version 5.0 data source. This technote explains how to change the statementCacheSize of the version 4.0 data source. The other attributes can be changed the same way.

Resolving the problem
This example displays the statements to type in bold, followed by the example output:

  1. Enter the wsadmin command mode:

    >wsadmin
    WASX7209I: Connected to process "server1" on node mshent23 using SOAP connector;  The type of process is: UnManagedProcess
    WASX7029I: For help, enter: "$Help help"

  2. Return a list of objects of the type WAS40DataSource:

    wsadmin>$AdminConfig list WAS40DataSource

    (cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40DataSource_2)

    test(cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40DataSource_1)

    test-Version4-datasource(cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40DataSource_3)

  3. Set the object ds to the version 4 data source:

    wsadmin>set ds test-Version4-datasource(cells/mshent23/nodes/ mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40DataSource_3)

    test-Version4-datasource(cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40DataSource_3)

  4. Show the top level attributes of the object ds:

    wsadmin>$AdminConfig show $ds

    {connectionPool
    (cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40ConnectionPool_3)}

    {databaseName db2}
    {description "New DB2 Datasource for testing PMR 08854-122"}
    {jndiName jdbc/test-Version4-DB2-JDBC-XA}
    {name test-Version4-datasource}
    {propertySet
    (cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#J2EEResourcePropertySet_14)}

    {provider "test-DB2 JDBC Provider
    (XA)(cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#JDBCProvider_7)"}

  5. Set the object cp to the version 4 connection pool:

    wsadmin>set cp (cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1: resources.xml#WAS40ConnectionPool_3)

    (cells/mshent23/nodes/mshent23/servers/server1:resources.xml#WAS40ConnectionPool_3)

  6. Show the top level attributes of the object cp:

    wsadmin>$AdminConfig show $cp

    {connectionTimeout 1000}
    {disableAutoConnectionCleanup false}
    {idleTimeout 2000}
    {maximumPoolSize 30}
    {minimumPoolSize 1}
    {orphanTimeout 3000}
    {statementCacheSize 10}

  7. Modify the cp object's statementCacheSize:

    wsadmin>$AdminConfig modify $cp {{statementCacheSize 31}}

  8. Show the top level attributes of the object cp to see the change in statementCacheSize:

    wsadmin>$AdminConfig show $cp

    {connectionTimeout 1000}
    {disableAutoConnectionCleanup false}
    {idleTimeout 2000}
    {maximumPoolSize 30}
    {minimumPoolSize 1}
    {orphanTimeout 3000}
    {statementCacheSize 31}

  9. Save the changes with this command:

    wsadmin>$AdminConfig save
