Problem(Abstract) |
Collecting data for problems with the IBM WebSphere
Application Server Security component. Gathering this MustGather
information before calling IBM support will help you understand the
problem and save time analyzing the data. |

Resolving the
problem |
If you have already contacted support, continue on to the
Security component-specific MustGather information. Otherwise, click: MustGather:
Read first for all WebSphere Application Server products.
Running as non-root specific MustGather information:
1. Verify that the servers work when running as root. Failures
when running as non-root can manifest themselves as permission violations
or lack of authority errors posted in the logs.
2. For Network Deployment editions only: What process or processes
(deployment manager, application server, nodeagent) are you trying to run
with a non-root user ID?
For releases of V7.0, check that you have followed the instructions here.
For releases of V6.1, check that you have followed the instructions here.
For releases of V6.0, check that you have followed the instructions here.
For releases of V5.0 and V5.1, check that you have run the commands here,
especially step 8.
3. Collect the following:
a. The collector tool: this will
gather the file permissions information and configuration of the system.
- For releases of V7.0, follow instructions here
to run the collector tool. For Network Deployment installations, run the
command also from the Deployment Manager profile.
- For releases of V6.1, follow instructions here
to run the collector tool. For Network Deployment installations, run the
command also from the Deployment Manager profile.
- For releases of V6.0, follow instructions here
to run the collector tool. For Network Deployment installations, run the
command also from the Deployment Manager profile.
- For releases of V5.0 and V5.1, follow instructions here
to run the collector tool. For Network Deployment installations, use the
DeploymentManager\bin or DeploymentManager/bin installation path
(depending on your operating system) to run the collector tool on the
deployment manager.
b. For all releases:
- Obtain the user names used as the RUN-AS user.
- Obtain the list of groups associated with the RUN-AS user.
4. Follow instructions to send
diagnostic information to IBM support.
