Problem(Abstract) |
This technote describes how to manually install the Sun
Java™ System Web server plug-in on AIX®. |
|
|
|
Cause |
The Sun Java System (formerly Sun ONE) Web server plug-in
for IBM® WebSphere Application Server V5 on AIX is not installed by the
standard WebSphere installation program. |
|
|
Resolving the
problem |
These instructions are intended for use with Sun Java
System Web server version 6 and apply only to AIX platforms.
- Begin the normal installation process for installing WebSphere®
Application Server V5 Base Edition.
- On the features selection panel, be sure to select the Web
Server Plugins option, in addition to any other WebSphere Application
Server features desired. (See the screen shot below.)
Note: Do not select any of the individual Web server sub-options,
unless you use other Web servers in addition to the Sun Java System Web
server. Even though no particular brand of Web server is selected, the
plug-in for Sun Java System will still be installed.
- Install and configure the Sun Java System Web server product, if you
have not already done so.
- Manually update the Sun Java System Web server configuration files to
load the WebSphere Application Server plug-in. Follow the instructions in
the WebSphere Application Server V5 Information Center's section for
plug-in manual configuration.
Note: The Sun ONE Web server plug-in file is located in the bin
subdirectory under the WebSphere installation home, and is named
libns41_http.so.
- Run the GSKit installation script to ensure that the Global Security
Kit (GSKit) is installed. The script is located on the product
installation CD at this path:
aix/ihs/gskit.sh
