Problem(Abstract) |
Security note: The proxy might execute as the root group
on an SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) install, by default, because the
nobody group does not exist in a typical SuSE Linux Enterprise Server
Installation. This note describes a workaround for this problem. |

Resolving the
problem |
When you perform a native installation of Caching Proxy on
a typical SuSE Linux Enterprise Server operating system, the following
warning message can result:
Group nobody does not exist - using root
This message occurs because the nobody group, with the appropriate
permissions, does not exist on a typical SuSE Linux Enterprise Server
system installation.
To work around the problem, configure the proxy process to run as any
valid user and group on the system. For configuration information, refer
to the "Establish process ownership" chapter in the Caching Proxy
Administration Guide.
The system administrator can choose to create a nobody group on the
operating system and configure the proxy to use this group. |
