Command syntax to alias the NIC on Solaris and HP-UX for CBR is incorrect in the "Load Balancer Administration Guide"
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
In version 5.0 and later releases of the Load Balancer Administration Guide, there are incorrect instructions for aliasing the NIC on Solaris platforms. Also, it incorrectly states that Solaris requires a unique number for the interface name.

In version 5.1 and later releases of the Load Balancer Administration Guide, there are incorrect instructions for aliasing the NIC on HP-UX platforms.

Resolving the problem
In Load Balancer Administration Guide, the section pertaining to setting up a Content Based Routing (CBR) machine contains a table of commands to alias the network interface card (NIC). The instructions for aliasing the NIC on Solaris and HP-UX platforms are incorrect.

For HP-UX, the correct syntax to alias the network interface card (NIC) is:

ifconfig interface_name cluster_address netmask netmask up

For Solaris (Solaris 8 for version 5.0), the correct syntax to alias the NIC is:

ifconfig interface_name addif cluster_name netmask netmask up

The following Note that contains the instructions and appears below the Table, does not apply to Solaris. It applies only to Linux® and HP_UX:

Note: The interface_name must have a unique number for each cluster address that is added.
