Installation of WebSphere Application Server fails due to file name case sensitivity mismatch
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
After FTP download of installation files from a Microsoft® Windows® operating system to a UNIX® operating system, file names are in uppercase, causing installation to fail.

Cause
When viewing a UNIX installation CD for WebSphere® Application Server on a Windows platform, file names all appear in uppercase. The installation files were transferred to the UNIX operating system using FTP.
When the files were transferred to the UNIX system, they were received with uppercase file names. This causes the installation on the UNIX platform to fail.

After changing the file names to lower case, the installation completed successfully.

Resolving the problem
On UNIX operating systems, mount the installation CD on the UNIX system to maintain the case sensitivity of the files.
Remote installations of WebSphere Application Server should be between like platforms, such as UNIX to UNIX, or Windows to Windows, so that the correct file structure, symbolic links and file permissions are preserved.
