Can not create database table in WebSphere Application Server
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Getting SQL Message Could not create database table in WebSphere® Application Server stdout.log.

Cause
The following Message occurs in AppServer Log:
[02.05.31 18:23:36:079 EDT] 4efd3d32 DBPortability W Could not create database table: "sessions" java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

(OracleStatement.java:1446)

The Application Server fails to create the session table.

Resolving the problem
If the Websphere Application Server starts, it attempts to create the session table, which might fail for one of the following reasons:
Scenario 1
The table already exists. WebSphere Application Server will use the existing table and you can ignore the preceding message. This is an informational message, logged by the Application Server. If you do not want to keep this message from being logged, you may take advantage of Message Filtering.

Refer to the Websphere Application Server Information Center for more detailed information; for example, for WebSphere Application Server V5.1, see IBM service log settings.

Scenario 2
The table does not exist and cannot be created due to a lack of privileges. The table must be created by using either the database administrator user ID (dbadmin) or a WebSphere Application Server user with adequate rights. If the User (Userid in Session Manager persistence tab) is not authorized to create the table (in session database) you will receive the preceding error message.
