XMLConfig and wscp
 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
Can I use the command line tools XMLConfig and wscp in IBM® WebSphere® Application Server V5.0?

Resolving the problem
No. XMLConfig and wscp (IBM® WebSphere® Control Program) are not supported in WebSphere Application Server V5.0. XMLConfig and wscp were a part of the WebSphere Application Server V4.0 (all releases) administration repository support. In V5.0, the repository no longer exists, and the tools that manipulate it are no longer needed. All the configuration and application data are stored in XML files in all editions of WebSphere Application Server V5.0.

"wsadmin" is the new scripting interface for V5.0 replacing wscp. wsadmin is based on the Bean Scripting Framework (BSF), which supports a variety of scripting languages to configure and control your WebSphere Application Server V5.0 installation. The WebSphere Application Server V5.0 supports the Jacl scripting language. The V5.0 Information Center contains detailed documentation on how to migrate wscp scripts to wsadmin scripts.
