Problem(Abstract) |
WebSphere® Application Server V5.0 does not have nanny
processes monitoring the application servers. You can use the Windows
Services panel to monitor the application server. The WASService.exe file
is used to create these services for V5.0. When you create a new node with
the wsinstance service, the WASService.exe file creates a service for
these application servers, but they do not work. |
|
|
|
Cause |
The Windows Service created for a wsinstance node fails
because the WASService.exe file does not contain the necessary information
about the wsinstance node. |

Resolving the
problem |
Apply PQ75427 to the WebSphere Application Server V5.0
(Versions 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2) to fix the WASService.exe executable. This
fix adds the wsinstance information to the Windows Service. The following
information contains the usage details and an example command for a
wsinstance server:
Usage: WASService.exe (with no arguments starts the service)
|| -add <service name>
-serverName <Server>
[-wasHome <WebSphere Installation Directory>]
[-configRoot <Configuration Repository Directory>]
[-startArgs <additional start arguments>]
[-stopArgs <additional stop arguments>]
[-userid <execution id> -password <password>]
[-logFile <service log file>]
[-logRoot <server log directory>]
[-userScript <setupCmdLine script file>]
[-restart <true | false>]
|| -remove <service name>
|| -start <service name>
|| -stop <service name>
|| -status <service name>
When trying to create a wsinstance service, you need the following
parameters: -wasHome, -configRoot, -logRoot, and -userScript.
Here is an example command to create the wsinstance service:
C:\WebSphere50\AppServer\bin>WASService -add newserver -serverName
server1 -wasHome C:\WebSphere50\AppServer -configRoot C:\WebSphere50\test
-logRoot C:\WebSphere50\test\logs\server1 -logFile
C:\WebSphere50\test\logs\server1_instance.log -userScript
C:\WebSphere50\test\bin\setupCmdLine.bat
where the wsinstance node is located in the C:\WebSphere50\test
directory. |
