Installation Instructions
If you install the ASTK on a different machine than your Application Server, you must install the IBM Agent Controller for the operating system that your Application Server uses. The IBM Agent Controller is used by the ASTK to interface with your Application Server. The IBM Agent Controller is located within the downloaded ASTK file for your operating system. For example, on the Windows operating system, it is located in the install_root/ac/ directory.

  • All installs are zipped or tarred as appropriate. Download the required archive and extract the install image to a temporary directory using tar or unzip, and run "install" to install the product.
  • On multi-user systems, you must be a super-user to successfully complete the install. The standard install location on Unix systems is "/opt/IBM/ASTK".
  • After the ASTK is installed, click the icon on the Windows desktop or type "astk" on the command line of a UNIX®-based system.
  • If you upgrade from a previous version of the ASTK, your old workspace might not be compatible. Either move your old workspace to a different location or specify a different workspace and restart. You can specify the workspace location using the "-data " flag, followed by the new location.

You can uninstall the ASTK from any machine by running "uninstall" from the "_uninst" directory in the install location. This process is the preferred method of removal as it provides a cleaner removal than deleting the directories.
