Preparing a Windows NT C++ client environment for OLT
Use System Manager to enable remote tracing and debugging and change the
request timeout values on your client image. You must have completed a Component
Broker client installation on this workstation.
To enable remote tracing and debugging on the client image:
- Ensure the DCE is installed and running.
- Ensure that CBConnector is running.
- Add your OS/390 Component Broker server host to your Hosts file.
- In System Manager, select View > View Level > Control.
- Open the Host Images folder, then expand the host image
that corresponds to your machine name.
- Expand Client Style Images and select the host name that
corresponds to the machine where your client application resides.
- From the client style image's pop-up menu, select Properties.
A notebook opens.
- On the Main tab, check the Enable debug box.
- Select the ORB tab.
- Change the request timeout value to 0 (or a value that
cannot be easily reached when using the debugger, such as 1800 seconds).
- Change the name server to the OS/390 Component Broker
server host.
- Select the Transaction tab.
- Change deferred transaction begin to never.
- Click OK to close the client image notebook.
Note: If your client-side code includes transaction timeout
values, you must set these values to 0 (or a value that cannot be easily reached
when using the debugger) and recompile before continuing.
You should now start your Component Broker name and application servers.
