Create a model from a resource
- Configure the application server on which to base the model. Make sure you also configure
any of its contents, such as servlets.
- Test the application server and its contents. Make sure it is the way you
would like it to be before copying it.
- In the Topology view, right-click the application server of which you
want to create a model. Click Create -> Model to display the model properties sheet.
- Use the properties sheet to specify settings for the model.
- Specify a name for the model.
- Specify whether the application server you are cloning should itself become one of the clones.
If you do not make it a clone, it will be freestanding, meaning it has no relationship
to the model.
- Specify whether to recursively model the application server contents. This is recommended.
In other words, specify whether to include the containers,
enterprise beans, servlet engines, Web applications, and servlets under the application
server in the clones of the application server. If you do not recursively model
the children of the resource, you will have a model of just that resource.
- The model will be an application server. Specify properties for the application server.
- Click the Create button to create the model.
After creating a model, you can create clones from the model:
- If planning to create a clone on another node, make sure you have
configured a JDBC driver on that node. You must
do so prior to creating the clone.
- Right-click the model that you want to clone. Make sure you right-click the
model, and not the original.
- Click Create and click Clone.
- In the Clone parent dialog box, select the node on which the clone of the server or servlet
will run.
- Click the Create button to create the clone.
