Installing WebSphere Application Server -- Minimum installation option

This minimum installation option installs components you need for evaluation purposes or for lightweight "proof of concept" applications intended to run on single-node server configurations.

To install WebSphere Application Server, do the following:

  1. Stop the Enterprise Web Server by typing NSWEB at the system console, then select Shutdown Webserver and press Enter.
  2. After you put the application CD into your NetWare CD drive, type CDROM at the NetWare console prompt to load the CD.
  3. Start the NetWare GUI by typing STARTX at the NetWare console prompt. If it is already running, use CTRL-ESC to switch to the GUI.
  4. Click Novell and then Install.
  5. Click Add, type the path to the CD or browse to the CD, and select PRODUCT.NI.
  6. Click OK and then click Next to skip the introductory page.
  7. If prompted, enter your NetWare administrator username, context, and password.
  8. On the Install Options page, click Minimum Install and then Next.
  9. On the Summary screen, click Finish to begin the installation.
  10. When the installation is complete, click Startup to start the application server and to launch the WebSphere monitor.

    or

Click Exit if you don't want to start WebSphere now. To start it later, type STARTWEBSPHERE at the system console.
