6.6.13.0: Properties of thick servlet redirectors

Command Line Arguments
Specifies the command line arguments to pass to the servlet redirector when it is started.

Current state
Indicates the state the servlet redirector is currently in. The next time it is started, it will try to change to its desired state setting.
Desired state
Indicates the state the servlet redirector should have the next time it is started.
Environment
Specifies the environment variables to be used by servlet redirector, and the values of the variables.

To set variables, click the Environment field to display a dialog box. In the box, enter variable names and values, clicking the Add button after each one.

Group ID
Specifies the name of the operating system group under which to run the servlet redirector.

Note that the operating system group must exist on the machine where the servlet redirector is to run before the servlet redirector is started. This group must be assigned the necessary operating system privileges for performing operations such as creating output files on the local file system. Group ID in use
Indicates the group ID the servlet redirector is currently running under.

Max Connections
Specifies the maximum number of connections to allow in the queue for the servlet redirector. These are OSE connections to the Web server.

Max Connections in use
Indicates the maximum number of OSE connections allowed between the Web server and redirector right now.

Max Startup Attempts
Specifies the number of times to try starting the servlet redirector before discontinuing attempts.

Node
Specifies the name of node on which the servlet redirector runs.

Port
Specifies the port on which the redirector should listen.

Port in use
Indicates the port on which the redirector is now listening.

Process priority
Specifies the operating system process priority under which to run the servlet redirector. The lower the number, the greater the importance of the process. Additional information specific to operating system

Process Priority in use
Indicates the process priority (see above) now in use by the servlet redirector.

Queue Type
Specifies the transport to queue requests for:
  • OSE (always the queue type if using the thick servlet redirector)
  • HTTP
  • None

For OSE, you can also specify Transport Type and associated properties. Go to the thick servlet redirector Advanced properties and click Transport Settings. Select one of:

  • Local pipes
  • INET sockets
  • JAVA TCP/IP (Not currently supported)

Settings take effect the next time the thick redirector is started.

See the servlet engine tuning section of the Tuning Guide for suggested values, typically based on the operating system.

Servlet Redirector Name
Specifies a name for the redirector. The name must be unique within the administrative domain.

Standard error (stderr)
Specifies the standard error stream for the operating system.

If the value of this property is set to the null string (""), the stream is set to the null device.

If this property is set to a relative path name, the path is relative to the servlet redirector's working directory. Any class of trace output can be redirected to this file. By default, the output of the fatal, error, and audit trace classes is sent to this file.

By default, the standard error and standard out logs are written to:

unless a working directory is specified, or the fully qualified path of the log is specified.

Specifies the standard output stream for the operating system.

If this property is set to the null string (""), the stream is set to the null device.

If this property is set to a relative path name, the path is relative to the servlet redirector's working directory.

Start Time
Indicates the time at which the servlet redirector was most recently started.

Trace Log File
Specifies the file to which to send tracing output. Tracing output is gathered according to the Trace String specified.

Trace String
Specifies the servlet redirector component or components to trace. See the trace help for instructions for specifying this string.

Umask
Specifies an octal value that sets the operating system's file creation mask for the servlet redirector.

The file creation mask specifies permissions that cannot initially be granted for new files. When a new file is created, the system refuses to grant the permissions specified in the file creation mask.

For example, a mask of 022 prevents the granting of the write permission to members of the group that own the file and to all other users who do not own the file.

A mask of 022 allows the owner to be granted all permissions; in other words, it leaves the owner's permissions the way the system specifies them.

If the system would otherwise create a file with privilege values of 777 (read, write, and execute permissions for owner, group, and other), a file creation mask of 022 causes it to create the file with 755 (all permissions for the owner, but only read and execute permissions for group and other).

  • Legal Values: An integer in the octal range 0 through 0777
  • Default: 022

Umask in use
Indicates the umask (see above) now in use by the servlet redirector.

User ID
Indicates the user ID the servlet redirector should run under.

User ID in use
Indicates the user ID the servlet redirector is currently running under.

Working directory
Specifies the local directory in which to run the servlet redirector. This directory is used to determine the locations of input and output files with relative path names. After starting a servlet redirector, it is recommended that you do not change the servlet redirector's working directory.

Working directory in use
Indicates the working directory (see above) now in use by the servlet redirector.
