| Problem | How to use the XMLConfig command to export your current WebSphere Application Server configuration and then change your server host name and IP address. | | | | Solution | - Use the XMLConfig(.bat) command to export your current configuration.
For example: From a command-line, run the following:
XMLConfig -exportmyconfig.xml-adminNodeNameservername
OR
From the administrative console, select Console-->Export, and save it asmyconfig.xml. This creates a file called "myconfig.xml"
- Stop the application server and Web server.
- Edit the following files and replace the old server name with the new server name:
For your WebSphere Application Server: install_root/properties/sas.server.props install_root/bin/admin.config
For your Web server: $HTTP_HOME/conf/httpd.conf
- Drop and recreate the WebSphere Application Server database.
- Change the server name and IP address, then stop and restart your server (even for AIX®).
- Start the WebSphere Application Server administrative server.
- Edit the exported xmlconfig file, myconfig.xml, and perform a search and replace of the old servername and old ip address to the new servername and new ip address.
- Use the XMLConfig(.bat) command to import your previous configuration.
For example:
XMLConfig -importmyconfig.xml-adminNodeName newservername
This will now restore your previous configuration with the new node name.
