| Problem | When configuring a data source using either the DB2 Legacy CLI-based Type 2 JDBC™ Driver or the DB2 Universal JDBC Driver Provider, the data source contains the loginTimeout custom property. The property is available on both V4 and V5 data sources. This technote outlines the function of this custom property and describes when it should be used. | | Cause | The loginTimeout custom property is supported only when using the DB2 Universal JDBC Driver to connect to a DB2 V8 database. | | Solution | The loginTimeout is the number of seconds that the DB2 client waits to connect to the DB2 server before timing out. The default value of the loginTimeout is zero, meaning that the connection attempt does not time out unless the underlying communication layer (TCP/IP) times out. It can be set to any 32-bit integer value. The loginTimeout property is supported only with the DB2 Universal JDBC Driver for DB2 V8. If the data source connects to a DB2 V7 database, or if it is configured with the DB2 Legacy CLI-based Type 2 JDBC Driver to connect to DB2 V8, the loginTimeout has no effect. It should not be changed from its default value of zero. | |
