| Problem | The WebSphere installation fails when installing from hard drive with copied contents of installation CD of Windows NT or Windows 2000 | | | | Solution | Scenario: - Doing multiple installs and copying contents of CD to hard drive to facilitate installation.
- This is not a recommended procedure for Windows, but it works in many instances and is widely used.
- In some cases you may get errors from the installation program that files cannot be found to continue installation and parts of the install may fail.
- Also, there are cases where font errors will occur and dialogs will appear without any text (after an apparently successful installation).
Resolution: - Use CD when in doubt, but if that was not possible:
- Create a share for a directory or drive, where the CD is copied,
- Map a drive to that share point,
- Install the program from the mapped drive from which the content of the CD is mapped.
- This mapped drive should now mirror the directory structure of the actual CD.
