DOC apar for PQ41806 to be included in V3.5 Release Notes

Attempting to install Websphere Application Server V3.5 on
AIX using the gui install (install.sh) or attempting to start
the admin console on AIX results in:
Exception in thread 'main' java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:the admin console on AIX results in:
USER\IBM\WEBAS\JAVA\JRE\BIN\LIBAWT.A file in path not found
JDK 1.2.2 requires additional X11 packages and BOS packages
that may not be present on the minimum required AIX level
(4.3.3 maint level 2).
These additional filesets are required and can be found on

These also have been needed for 4.3.3.4 level (not certain
about others). WAS install fails silently without these

Install x11.adt and bos.adt completely from the AIX support
media before WAS install. The next full release is scheduled
to include checks and warnings for users that need to have
these installed. Problem summary

The Java Developer Kit Version 1.2.2 requires additional X11
and BOS packages that may not be present on the minimum required
AIX level machine. The following additional filesets are
required for installation and you can find them on the AIX 4.3.3
installation media:
