Error 42, Error 43, or Error 44 in WebSphere Application Server upgrade logs can be ignored

Technote (FAQ)
Problem
During installation numerous occurrences of Error 42..., Error 43... and Error 44... are logged in was35_adv_ptf_7.log. The summary log indicates "minor errors" and the fix pack installed successfully.

What are the impact of these messages?
Solution
What the upgrade utility is doing
The fix pack installer uses a loop to process files being installed. On occasion, the installer will take the same action more than once. After the installer determines the action has completed successfully, the installer will skip the action on subsequent passes and the log that no action was taken.

Sample Errors
[ 04:01:44 PM ] 2003/03/22 03:32:14 Error 42 -- Ignoring action for /core_adv/properties/trustedservers.properties, first action was Add, dup action is Add
[ 04:03:03 PM ] 2003/03/22 03:32:07 Error 43 -- Ignoring action for /server/bin/xmlconfig.dtd, first action was Update, dup action is Update
[ 04:03:15 PM ] 2003/03/22 03:32:13 Error 44 -- Superseding action for /devkit/bin/wlmjar.cmd, first action was Delete, dup action is Update
2003/03/22 03:33:00 Minor errors = 6
2003/03/22 03:33:00 RC=0, Elapsed Time 00:01:29.125

Conclusion
These messages are harmless and do not indicate any problems with the installation. If "RC=0" is at the end of the install log, the installation was successful.
