Unable to start the iPlanet console after installing WebSphere Application Server V3.5 plug-in

Technote (FAQ)
Problem
After installing the WebSphereŽ Application Server V3.5 plug-in, you are unable to start the iPlanet console.
Solution

Problem
Problems can occur after installing an Open Servlet Engine (OSE) plug-in if the appropriate entries are not made. For example, the following error message is displayed upon iPlanet Server startup after you have installed the OSE plug-in:

conf_init: 5: Directives must have at least one parameter while processing load

file obj.conf:
hostname:root: /usr/netscape/server4/https-admserv >

Cause
This error occurred because during installation of the plug-in, the following file was selectedfor update:

/usr/netscape/server4/https-admserv/config/obj.conf

instead of the correct file:

/usr/netscape/server4/https-
hostname/config/obj.conf

Note: The directives needed by the OSE plug-in are entered in the obj.conf for an iPlanet HTTP Server and not for the Administration Server.

Solution
Take the following corrective action:
  1. Shut down all iPlanet processes.
  2. Replace the obj.conf file that was modified by the WebSphere Application Server plug-in installation.
For example: replace /usr/netscape/server4/https-admsrv/config/obj.conf with a default obj.conf file.
  3. Start up the iPlanet Administration Server. Start all HTTP servers to ensure that your iPlanet installation is functional.
  4. Shutdown all iPlanet processes and reinstall the OSE plug-in. Specify the correct configuration file. For example:
    /usr/netscape/server4/httpsyour-server-instance/config/obj.conf
