Websphere Application Server V3.5.3
AIX 4.3.3
Customer applied PTF3 of WSAS V3.5, then started adminserver
and got a core dump. The customer did not install PTF into a
R/W directory so core dump occurred. The PTF needs to be
copied into a read/write directory file system since during the
PTF install it will try to write to a TEMP file.
Customer states this is NOT documented anywhere.
We also see error message in ptf3 install log file - these are
IOException errors which is problem in file access permission.
Error 24 - IOException selecting temporary jar file name:
the file access permissions do not allow the specified action.
..
This is a mounted file system (not CD rom) customer was using.
It was from another server machine. To fix the problem, customr
copied the PTF3 to a LOCAL file system, installed again, and
now has a working system. Customer wants to know why can't
install PTF from a MOUNTED drive.
...
Customer was using NFS mount - directory was READ only - PTF
must be done from a WRITE directory on AIX system.
Customer would like it documented - preferably in PTF readme.
