Specifying incorrect path during installation of the IBM HTTP documents on Solaris makes WebSphere samples unusable

Technote (FAQ)
Problem
The WebSphere® Application Server installation prompts for the IBM® HTTP Server document root. If this is specified incorrectly during WebSphere and IBM HTTP Server installation, the static pages used by the samples will not be accessible, resulting in 404 errors.
Solution
The default location for documentation for the WebSphere Application Server on Solaris® is /opt/WebSphere/AppServer. The WebSphere samples need to be installed in the default root directory for the IBM HTTP server, which is /opt/IBMHTTPD/htdocs/en_US on Solaris. If the user mistakenly gives the wrong path during installation, the WebSphere Application Server samples will not run. To correct this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Change directory to the location where the samples are erroneously installed, and copy the entire samples directory into the Web server's default directory. For example:
    # cd /opt/WebSphere/AppServer
    # cp -R WSsamples /opt/IBMHTTPD/htdocs/en_US
  2. Restart the IBM HTTP server.
