Problem
How to run the PMI client with WebSphere 3.5.5.
Solution
Open the InfoCenter located at:

Click on the arrow next to Application Server AE on the left. Then on the right side of the screen, scroll down to then click on Release Notes then click on Version 4.0.2 (December 2001)Release Notes and documentation updates. Next click on Documentation for Version 4.0.2, then Using the Resource Analyzer, then Using the Performance Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) with WebSphere 3.5.5+ application servers.

This document explains what is needed for setting up PMI to work on 3.5.5.

Question:
Can we use WSCP on a WebSphere version 4.0.2 to access PMI information from a WebSphere version 3.5.5 Application Server?

Answer:
No.

To enable PMI on WebSphere 3.5.5, you must install the WebSphere 4.0.2 PMI client and run this code against your WebSphere 3.5.5 Application Server.

NOTE:

The PMI client will only work on WebSphere version 3.5.5 are newer versions.
