WebSphere Application Server V3.5 Fix Pack 6 install causes /usr/HTTPServer/bin/sidd to be uninstalled

Technote (FAQ)
Problem
The install process for Fix Pack 6 on WebSphere® Application Server V3.5 causes the sidd file to be uninstalled and not reinstalled, with no error message in the install log. This only occurs when IBM® HTTP Server is installed on the same system as the WebSphere Application Server (including the OSE Remote webserver configuration).

This problem has been resolved with Fix Pack 7, WebSphere 3.5.7.
Solution
The "sidd" file is not included in the fix pack, so the work around is to download the IBM HTTP Server 1.3.12.6 and manually extract it from the TAR file:

To download appropriate version of IBM HTTP Server, go to Recommended Updates for IBM HTTP Server: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=177&context=SSEQTJ&uid=swg27005198

How to see the files in a package (without extracting the files), using HTTPServer.aix.128.EN.tar.Z as an example:

  1. tar -tvf HTTPServer.aix.128.EN.tar
  2. restore -Tvf http_server.ssl.core
