How to monitor thread count and other process information on a running process in Windows

Problem
The Windows Task Manager provides a wide range of options for monitoring processes.
Solution
Invoking Task Manager: Right-mouse click on Task Bar, then select "Task Manager..."

Default settings for Task Manager:

View->Select Columns

Select "Thread Count" and press OK


Useful options:

  • PID (Process Identifier)
  • CPU Usage
  • CPU Time
  • Memory Usage
  • Memory Usage Delta
  • Peak Memory Usage
  • USER Objects
  • Handle Count
  • Thread Count
  • GDI Objects

Sorting by properties: Each column can be sorted by clicking on the column title.
