| Problem | Netscape browsers do not recognize cookie domains that do not contain at least two periods; Netscape treats the cookie as if the domain is not specified. This can cause the client browser to send the cookie to inappropriate servers.
Other browsers, such as Microsoft® Internet Explorer, do recognize cookie domain that do not contain at least two periods. As a result, the cookie is only sent to servers in the domain it was intended for. | | Cause | The Netscape cookie specification declares that a cookie domain must contain two periods. For example, "mycompany.com" will not be recognized as a valid cookie domain, and will be discarded by Netscape. However, ".mycompany.com" will work. | | Solution | Ensure that your cookie domain has at least two periods. Some browsers automatically add the preceding period to correct a cookie domain that is not valid. | |
