PQ44464: STARTUPSERVER.SH SCRIPT DOESN'T SET LIBPATH PROPERLY FOR NON-DB/2 REPOSITORIES

APAR

APAR status
Closed as program error.

Error description
At the end of the startupServer.sh script is a conditional
statement with two paths of execution: one for DB/2
repositories and one for all other repositories. The non-DB/2
path does not set and export LIBPATH and this results in
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no library WsProcessManagement
(libWsProcessManagement.a or .so) in java.library.path
exception when starting an app server. The DB/2 path of
execution sets LIBPATH to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, so the library is
found successfully with DB/2 repositories and the problem
doesn't occur. The solution to the problem is to modify the
non-DB/2 execution path to also set LIBPATH appropriately.

Update on reopening APAR on 12/26/2000: Please note that I
reopened the APAR because the state of defect PQ44464 is open.
It does not seem appropriate to close an APAR as FIN when there
is no guarantee that the problem will actually be fixed when the
defect is still open. Thanks for your attention to this issue.
.
*Note that this same problems appears to be in the Solaris
version of startupServer.sh also.
Local fix
The customer has worked around the problem by modifying their
copy of startupServer.sh to export LIBPATH for the non-DB/2
path of execution.
Problem summary
I startupServer.sh, the LIBPATH does not get set properly for
non DB2 databases. The server fails to start because it can't
load the WAS shared libraries. The solution is to include the WAS
bin directory in the LIBPATH.
Problem conclusion
Startupserver.sh for aix, linux, solaris modified to address
this issue to include LIBPATH.
Temporary fix
