| Problem | Can a single OSE plug-in be configured to route requests to two Application Servers in separate domains? What if the Application Servers are not both at the same release level? Is this type of configuration supported by IBM®? | | | | Solution | This type of configuration violates the overall architecture of WebSphere Application Server and therefore is not supported by IBM.
The OSE Plug-in is part of one WebSphere domain. The OSE Plug-in code is comprised of two sets of TCP/IP utilities, one installed with the Web server and the other part of WebSphere Application Server. One set is installed and loaded on the Web server machine, the other set is installed and loaded by WebSphere Application Server.
For the two sets of OSE Plug-in utilities to work together, both must be at the same release level or code base.
Even if you can, through manipulation of properties files, get the OSE Plug-in to work across WebSphere domains and fix pack levels, this is not a supported configuration. Furthermore, the behavior of this configuration is unpredictable. | |
