| Problem | WebSphere® Application Server delivers fix packs in ZIP format. You can use the Java™ JAR command the open the ZIP file; however, the JAR command might not be in your PATH. | | Cause | Installation fails when the installation ZIP file for a Unix® system is extracted to a non-Unix server, then the extracted files are copied to the Unix server. | | Solution | Recommendation for unzipping a fix pack on Unix:
- The JAR command opens a ZIP file:
jar -xvf <filename.zip>
- jar must be on the PATH. One solution is to source the WebSphere Application Server setupCmdLine script:
cd /usr/WebSphere/AppServer/bin; . ./setupCmdLine.sh
Validation:- To make sure jar is on the PATH, issue:
which jar
Notes:
- The jar utility uses the same syntax as tar.
- Refer to the README for more complete information on sourcing setupCmdLine.sh in the README for the updateInstaller:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/appserv/support/tools/UpdateInstaller/readme_updateinstaller.html
- Default PATH to setupCmdLine.sh on HP-UX, Solaris Operating System™ and Linux® begins with /opt, not /usr.
