Abstract
A status of "200" or "500" is being logged in the IIS access logs for all requests, no matter what the real response code was.

USERS AFFECTED:
WebSphere Application Server 3.5.0-3.5.6 users with IIS web server.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A status of "200" or "500" is being logged in the IIS access logs for all requests, no matter what the real response code was. For example, "200" status code is recorded in the IIS log for a JSP that does not exist & a "404" status code should be returned instead.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The code was logging 200 for all requests, even for requests that returned a non 200 answer (like a 304, or 404 ). This didn't effect the response, but the incorrect logging could be misleading to administrators when troubleshooting problems, or analyzing traffic. The code has been fixed so the response code that gets returned to the user gets logged.

NOTES:
If you have a remote web server, apply this interim fix to the web server side only.

This fix (PQ71589) is superseded by new Cumulative Plugin fix PQ76785. You have to apply PQ76785 rather than PQ71589. The fix PQ76785 must be applied on ALL WebSphere and web server machines.

This interim fix is included in WebSphere PTF7.
