| Problem | Which version of DB2 should I be using with WebSphere Application Server? | | | | Solution | NOTE: For an up-to-date listing of Supported Hardware, Software and API's for Release 3.5 for WebSphere Application Server, check http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/prereq.html. It is the most accurate resource for prerequisite questions.
DB2 UDB V7.1 is now supported by WebSphere Application Server V3.02 and V3.5.0 (both Standard and Advanced Editions)
DB2 UDB V7.1 has been tested as the WebSphere administration repository, session persistence, and user application data store (Servlets and EJBs). DB2 UDB V7.1 provides a JDBC 2.0 driver on Windows NT and Windows 2000, Solaris 2.6,7,8, and AIX 4.3.3. The default driver is based on JDBC 1.22. Ensure your DB2 environment is enabled to use the JDBC 2.0 driver when using WebSphere Application Server V3.5.
DB2 UDB V7.1 has been tested as the WebSphere administration repository, session persistence, and user application data store (Servlets and EJBs). DB2 UDB V7.1 provides a JDBC 1.22 driver that can be used on Windows NT and Windows 2000, Solaris 2.6, 7, 8, AIX 4.3.3, HP/UX 11 and Linux (kernel 2.2.12, glibc 2.1.2, libstdc++ 2.9.0) when using WebSphere Application Server V3.02.
- On Windows NT, AIX and Solaris platforms the DB2 V6.1 FP4 provides distributed transaction (JTA) support in the JDBC 1.22 driver. This support has been moved from the JDBC 1.22 driver to the JDBC 2.0 driver. Please upgrade to WebSphere Application Server 3.5 when using distributed transactions with DB2UDB V7.1.
- When using DB2 V7.1 and WebSphere Application Server V3.5, the DB2 UDB V7.1 default install path for DB2 on Windows NT and Windows 2000 is x:\Program Files\SQLLIB. In DB2 V6.1 the default path was simply x:\SQLLIB. The new default will cause the error: "2140: An internal Windows NT error occurred" when the WebSphere Application Server V3.5 service is started. The WebSphere Application Server 3.5 product will check for DB2 V7.1 and will use the short name for the location of the DB2 driver (db2java.zip) to resolve to new default.
- When using DB2 UDB V7.1 and WebSphere Application Server V3.02, the DB2 UDB V7.1 default install path on Windows NT and Windows 2000 is x:\Program Files\SQLLIB. In DB2 V6.1 the default path was simply x:\SQLLIB. The new default will cause the error: "2140: An internal Windows NT error occurred" when the WebSphere Application Server service is started. Ensure that the Windows short name is used for the location of the DB2 driver (db2java.zip). The reference for the DB2 driver can be found in the WebSphere Application Server admin.config file.
DB2 UDB V6.1 is supported by WebSphere Application Server V3.02(both Standard and Advanced Edition)
DB2 UDB V6.1 is supported by WebSphere Application Server V3.5 (both Standard and Advanced Edition)
WebSphere Application Server V3.5 supports DB2 UDB V6.1 FP4 for administration repository, session persistence, and user application data store (Servlets and EJBs).
