WebSphere Application Server for Linux shows each thread in ps output

Technote (FAQ)
Problem
The Linux®"ps" command shows more output than other Unix® operating systems. When using "ps" with WebSphere® Application Server on Linux® it may be difficult to understand the output.
Cause
Linux has a unique threading model that shows all threads when using the "ps" command.
Solution
Each thread shows up as a Java™ process under Linux; therefore, don't be alarmed when you see 150+ Java processes listed in the ps output.
    Resolution
The "--forest" option for ps is useful for determining what processes are threads.
