PQ43093: JSP 1.0 PAGE COMPILER DOES NOT HANDLE FILE ENCODING WHEN IT GENERATES JAVA SOURCE FILE

JSP 1.0 page compiler processes JSP file as this flowchart.

On step (1) and (2), JSP compiler cares character encoding
correctly. But on step (3) and (4), it does not care encoding.
This fault does not cause any problem on AIX nor NT, but it
causes matter on Solaris environment. Some Japanese characters
become "?".

 encoding system property of the JVM during the various stages o
f compilation ie., during reading the JSP file, writing the java
 file and converting the java source to a class file.However, th
e file encoding will have to be specified in the command line ar
guements of the AppServer.
