The Cache Hit Ratio is less than 70 and greater than or equal to
0.
|
The data cache hit ratio being monitored is the ratio of data cache hits to
total requests. The effectiveness of the data cache is represented by this
ratio. For optimal performance, the ratio should be approximately 95% or
greater. If the ratio falls below the desired threshold, the data cache should
be tuned by correctly sizing the memory available to the database server.
|
Possible actions to consider include the following:
-
Check the dynamic memory allocation configuration. Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 both provide a dynamic memory allocation mechanism,
which should be used in most cases.
-
If other critical processes are running on the same machine as the database
server and these processes are consuming large amounts of memory to the
detriment of the database server, then use the "max server memory" and "min
server memory" database server configuration options to explicitly define the
database server's memory needs.
