Situation Description

The target server responsiveness rate indicates how well a target server is accepting TCP connection setup requests. A value of 100 indicates that the target server is accepting all TCP connection requests successfully. A value of 0 indicates that the target server is acccepting no TCP connection setup requests sucessfully. A value between 100 and 0 indicates the relative success rate of TCP connection setup requests for this target server.

The sysplex distributor monitors the ability of a target server to process new connections. At each interval of approximately one minute, it generates a target server responsiveness fraction percentage to indicate how well the server is accepting new TCP connection setup requests. It is not a measure of how well the server is servicing the connections.

Suggested Actions

The target server responsiveness rate indicates how well a target server is accepting TCP connection setup requests. The probable cause of the z/OS application being unable to complete its workload is a server application problem or a server system resource constraint. Evaluate workload delay metrics (such as CPU or I/O) for the server address space to determine if possible system resource constraints exist.
