There are two main aspects of the new external application configuration:
We currently have an application banner in the internal application configuration file, with the extension .app, so we are going to reuse and extend this content to support the external applications.
In a similar fashion, we will use the existing navigation configuration files, with the extension .nav, to support the new external navigation bar.
