Introduction

This chapter provides an architectural overview of the evidence pattern. It describes the parts of the evidence pattern which are reusable in the design of an evidence solution. To read this chapter, some familiarity with data modelling, patternization, and user interfaces is assumed, as the evidence pattern consists of the following features:

Evidence Entities
The evidence framework includes entities in the core reference model for storing evidence information. The majority of these entities are part of the case manager since evidence is maintained at the case level. There are additional entities in the administration manager which link evidence to products, as well as one entity for setting up evidence approval checks.
Evidence Controller
The evidence controller is used to maintain evidence. It does this by managing the steps in evidence processes each time they occur.
Evidence User Interface
Evidence screens and evidence views are provided with the evidence framework. These screens and views introduce consistency for capturing, viewing, updating, validating, and activating evidence; they are reusable and customizable.
