Financial Unit

The institutionalized individuals are categorized into an appropriate financial unit according to whether or not they are a:

• Single institutionalized individual
• Child who is blind or disabled
• Married couple with an institutionalized spouse
• Married couple with a community spouse

These same financial units are used for both income and resource processing.
