Selections

The Dynamic Evidence Editor contains the concept of a single 'currently selected item'. This item governs which Properties screen appears in the Properties Panel, and what data is pre-populated in these screens. The following artifacts are selectable:

Note: A single 'currently selected item' is shared between the Model and User Interface Tabs. What this means, in practice, is that if an item is selectedin the Model Tab, and then subsequently an item is selected in the User Interface Tab, then upon returning to the Model Tab the original item will no longer be selected.

In all cases, an artifact is selected by clicking on it once. The Editor in most cases will show selectable items when the mouse is hovered over them (e.g. adding a number of attributes and moving the mouse slowly over them without clicking them - they will be outlined while the mouse is over them). When selected, an artifact will be haloed in a different color (e.g. For the Dynamic Evidence Type Version and Parents, this manifests as a blueish glow), and the previously selected artifact will have its halo removed.

In some cases, the act of creating a new artifact will cause it to be selected, as typically an administrator will want to change its name or some other property immediately.

Once an artifact has been selected, the Properties Panel will update to reflect the settable properties of the newly selected artifact type, and will be populated with all of its current values.

Note: Some artifacts can be selected, but do not have any settable properties (e.g. Skip Fields, draggable Attributes in the User Interface Palette); selecting these attributes will merely blank out the Properties panel.
