Known problems

The following section lists the known problems in this release of Rational Method Composer and possible workarounds, if any.

PHP/Zend based RSS Feed

Using the PHP/Zend based RSS Feed when publishing a Web site, results in displaying fewer records than expected. There is no workaround for this issue in this release of Rational Method Composer. Note that this issue does not exist when using the Servlet based RSS Feed.

Running Rational Method Composer under Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5 Update 3

Rational Method Composer crashes when starting under Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5 Update 3. The reason is that Rational Method Composer is based on Eclipse 3.3.2 which does not support mozilla-xulrunner 1.9 or above. Mozilla-xulrunner 1.9 is installed by default in Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5 Update 3.

To fix this problem:

  1. Go to http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/, download and install xulrunner 1.8.1.3 for Linux.
  2. Open rmc.ini from the Rational Method Composer installed directory.
  3. Add the following line:
    -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath={path to your xulrunner installed directory}
  4. Save and close rmc.ini.

PHP/Lucene search on Linux platforms

When using the search feature on published Web sites that used the PHP/Lucene based search capability on Linux platforms, a fatal error is generated. The root cause of the problem is that the Zend Lucene Search writes "read.lock.file into the index folder (usr/local/apache/htdocs/<site_name>/search/index) when searching the published Web site. By default, write permission to this folder is not granted to all users.

To grant write permission to this folder for all users, run the following command:
chmod 777 -R index

Blank name fields for Capability Pattern and Delivery Process child nodes

When creating a child node for Capability Patterns and Delivery Processes, if you do not press Enter to register the name, upon creating a second child node, the name of the first child node is cleared without displaying any warning message.

To fix this problem you must press Enter after typing the name for the child node.

Polish translation

Polish translation for RUP library and practices is not provided in this release of Rational Method Composer. If you installed the product by using IBM Install Manager v1.3.1, Polish language is available as a choice. Selecting Polish provides Rational Method Composer UI in Polish language and RUP library, practices, and online documentation will be provided in English.

Published Web site with non-English contents

If your published Web site with non-English contents is not displayed correctly in Tomcat, ensure that [URIEncoding="UTF8" useBodyEncodingForURI="true"] is added to your connector setting in the [TomcatDir]/conf/server.xml file.

Example of server.xml:

<Connector port="9080" maxHttpHeaderSize="8192"
maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75"
enableLookups="false" redirectPort="9443" acceptCount="100"
connectionTimeout="20000" disableUploadTimeout="true"
URIEncoding="UTF8" useBodyEncodingForURI="true"/>

Windows resolution and generated Activity Diagrams

Activity Diagrams should be opened in the same Windows resolution (96 or 120 DPI) as they were produced. Opening an Activity Diagram that was produced with Windows resolution of 96 DPI in 120 DPI or vice versa, results in unreadable content.

BIRT reports error

When opening sections of the Master Pages in the Outline view, a BIRT error message is generated. The workaround for this problem is to manually switch to the Master Page tab.

Configuration editor Plug-in and Package Selection tab refresh issues

When the Configuration editor Plug-in and Package Selection tab is open and you try to create or open a new library, change the method plug-in presentation layout from flat to hierarchical or vice versa, or click Show/Hide elements, the view will not refresh and you will lose those selections under the greyed out elements.

To refresh, you must close and reopen the Configuration editor view.

Conflict warning messages when installing or upgrading Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) from Rational Method Composer software update
During the installation of CCRC 7.1 plug-ins into Rational Method Composer 7.5.0.1, several conflict warning messages will be displayed about "Rational Common" plug-ins. These warning messages can be ignored as they are harmless and do not impact the CCRC integration functionalities.

Importing XML files to source controlled libraries
When importing XML files into Rational Method Composer library, potentially there are several new files that are being added into the source control under Rational Method Composer 7.5.0.1 integration with CCRC 7.1. In this case, UI race conditions might occur and several error messages will be displayed. To avoid this problem, got to Window > Preferences > Team > ClearCase Client > Workspace and change the "When new source are added" preference option value from "Prompt to add to source control" to "Automatically add to source control". After the import, change the option value back to "Prompt to add to source control".
