Working in the team environment with Rational ClearCase

The Rational® ClearTeam Explorer supports a variety of team development tasks.

About this task

Working in a team environment with the Rational ClearTeam Explorer requires that you perform routine tasks such as:
  • Populating ClearCase® views by
    • Mounting VOBs (dynamic and automatic views)
    • Loading them with resources from ClearCase repositories (snapshot, automatic, and web views)
    • Creating resources and adding them to ClearCase source control
  • Modifying resources in ClearCase views
  • Committing your modified resources to the repositories so that they can be shared with your team
The Rational ClearTeam Explorer provides access to Rational ClearQuest® user databases, which allows you to perform the following tasks:
  • Connecting to a Rational ClearQuest user database
  • Running ClearQuest queries.
  • Viewing and editing ClearQuest records.
If your team uses the Rational ClearCase UCM integration with Rational ClearQuest, you can also connect UCM activities to ClearQuest records, create ClearQuest records, and automatically transition the states of the ClearQuest records.

In addition, you might occasionally need to configure the Rational ClearTeam Explorer to suit personal preferences, upgrade it to a newer version, or perform other maintenance tasks.

All tools and dialog boxes described in this section are available on ClearCase toolbars, from context menus in the ClearTeam Navigator and ClearTeam Details view, and from menus in the menu bar. If you are using the Rational ClearTeam Explorer for Eclipse, you can also access them from the Eclipse Team context menu.

Every view and dialog box in the ClearTeam Explorer provides context-sensitive Help. To get Help for the ClearTeam Explorer interface that has the current focus, press the platform-specific help key (such as F1 on Windows).
