Rational ClearCase Administration with MMC

Use the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® Microsoft Management Console (MMC) interface to administer Rational ClearCase servers and clients or access the ClearCase Customer Web site.
Rational ClearCase has two tools integrated with MMC:
  • The Rational ClearCase Administration Console uses the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to manage VOBs, views, Rational ClearCase hosts, and the Rational ClearCase registry.
  • Rational ClearCase Host Administration manages VOBs, views, scheduled jobs, and server logs on a single host.

To start Rational ClearCase Administration Console, click Start > Programs > Rational Software > ClearCase > Administration > Administration Console.

To start ClearCase Host Administration, do one of the following:
  • Click Start > Programs > Rational Software > ClearCase > Administration > Administration Console.

This starts a host administration console for the local host.

  • In Rational ClearCase Administration Console, click any action that contains the words New Console. For example, with a Rational ClearCase registry VOB object selected, click Action > Manage VOB Storage (New Console).

This starts a host administration console for the host on which the VOB server runs.

Note: In a Rational ClearCase network that has many hosts, it is usually more efficient to open a new Host console to manage a specific host than it is to search for the host in the ClearCase Network node.
