Server Storage Configuration wizard
When you install Rational® ClearCase® on a server host, you can specify that the host will provide Rational ClearCase server storage locations in which Rational ClearCase client hosts can create VOB and view storage directories. The Server Storage Configuration wizard enables you to specify these locations on the Rational ClearCase server host.
When installing Rational ClearCase on a server host, if you specify that you wish to make storage locations on the server available to Rational ClearCase clients for creating VOB and/or view storage directories, the Server Storage Configuration Wizard starts when you log on after the installation reboot.
If you choose not to configure storage locations, this computer can still act as a VOB or view server. Not configuring storage locations means only that Rational ClearCase clients will not automatically create VOB or view storage on this computer. If you do choose to configure Rational ClearCase server storage locations on this server, resources on this computer may be automatically consumed by Rational ClearCase clients.
The initial window provides three options for configuring the server locations:
- Yes, start storage configuration now..
- No, do the configuration later. (You will be prompted again at next log on.) Use the wizard to configure the server locations later. You will be prompted at the next login with the same initial choices.
- No, I will set up the configuration from the cleartool command line. You will not be prompted to configure the server storage locations in the future. However, until you configure one or more server storage locations on this host or another Rational ClearCase server host (with the Rational ClearCase Administration Console or the mkstgloc command), Rational ClearCase client hosts cannot browse for server storage locations when using the VOB and view creation wizards, and users will have to specify a location for VOB or view storage.
See the Administrator's help for information about using the Rational ClearCase Administration Console or the mkstgloc command to configure server storage.
