Use the load rule editor in the
ClearCase® View Configuration tool to create or modify load
rules for snapshot, web, and automatic views.
About this task
The ClearCase Edit Configuration dialog box includes a load
rule editor with which you can explore the contents of VOBs accessible to the CCRC UCM server and
add load rules that specify all or part of a VOB's contents. You can also remove load rules.
Procedure
To use the load rule editor:
- In the ClearTeam Navigator, select a web view, automatic
view, or snapshot view.
- From the ClearTeam Navigator context menu, select Show ClearCase View Configuration to open the
ClearCase View Configuration view.
- Optional: To view or edit load rules as text, click the
icon on the ClearCase View Configuration toolbar and select
Edit Configuration or click the
icon on the ClearCase View Configuration toolbar to open the
Edit Configuration dialog box.
- In the Edit Configuration dialog box,
click the Load Rules tab, then add load rules
by selecting them in the Select resources and add or remove
rules tree and clicking Add. You
can remove load rules by selecting them in the Load Rules list
box and clicking Remove.
- To add a rule that loads an entire VOB, select the VOB folder
from the list and click Apply.
- To add a rule that loads a subdirectory of a VOB, click the
plus sign (+) to the left of any folder to list its contents, then
select the folders or files you want to load and click Apply.
- When you have finished adding load rules, click OK to
close the Edit Configuration dialog box.
Results
When you load or update a view, the Rational®
ClearTeam Explorer contacts the CCRC WAN server (in the case of an
automatic view or web view) or the VOB server (in the case of a snapshot view) and requests a
version of each element in each load rule's scope. The versions requested are determined by the
view's config spec. The time required to load a view depends on the number and size of resources
that must be loaded, and on the speed of your connection to the server.
