Updates in version 8.0
In the IBM Rational
ClearTeam Explorer version 8.0, the following capabilities have been
introduced:
- Name changes
- The following product and user interface name changes have been
made in version 8.0:
- The IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client user interface is now
called the IBM Rational ClearTeam Explorer
- The ClearCase Navigator is now called the ClearTeam
Navigator
- The ClearCase Details view is now called the ClearTeam
Details view
- The ClearCase Web Server is now called the CCRC WAN
Server.
- The Connect dialog box is now called the CCRC WAN Server dialog
box.
- Support for Dynamic views
- You can use Dynamic views to access resources in the Rational
ClearTeam Explorer if:

- Create a ClearCase view
- The Create View dialog box now contains a ClearCase Local node
and an option to create a Dynamic view.

- Join UCM Project wizard
- The Join UCM Project wizard now contains a ClearCase Local node
and an option to create a Dynamic view.

- Dynamic View Options
- When creating a Dynamic view in the Create View dialog
box or the Join UCM Project wizard, the View
Options button invokes a new dialog box, called Dynamic
View Options.

- Mounting VOBs
- Before using Dynamic views, you may be required to mount (or activate)
VOBs by using the new Mount VOB option.
- After you create a Dynamic view, you can access it in the ClearTeam
Navigator under the My Views node. If your
Dynamic view does not appear for any given session, you must right-click
the My Views node and select Start
Dynamic View from the context menu. Once the view has
been started, expand the view name node. If the node is empty, the
VOB is not mounted. To mount the VOB, click the View Menu option list
icon (the small, inverted triangle) that is associated with the ClearTeam
Navigator and select the Unmounted VOBs option.
After the VOB name appears under the Dynamic view, click the VOB name
to automatically mount the VOB. If, however, you have previously performed
an Unmount VOB operation on that VOB, it is
not automatically mounted when you select it. Instead, you must right-click
the VOB name and select Mount VOB from the
context menu.

- Unmounting VOBs
- When using Dynamic views, you may want to unmount (or deactivate)
a VOB by using the new Unmount VOB option.

- Starting a Dynamic view
- You must start a Dynamic view before using it by selecting the
new Start Dynamic View option. If the Dynamic
view is not started, it does not appear under My Views in
the ClearTeam Navigator.

- Ending a Dynamic view
- You can deactivate a Dynamic view by ending it using the new End
Dynamic View option.

- Edit Configuration
- The Edit Configuration dialog box now contains
the following new options on the Copy Rules tab:
- Show: My local views
- Show: Views containing <user_name>
- Show: All views
- View filter
- Apply
- Clear
- Refresh
- From view

- Checkout
- The Checkout dialog box now contains a new Preserve
Time option.

- Pending Changes Configuration
- The Pending Changes Configuration dialog
box for a Base, Dynamic view contains a new option on the Scope tab
called Include All Mounted VOBs.

- Compare/Merge preferences
- The Window > Preferences > Team > IBM Rational ClearTeam
Explorer > Integration > Compare/Merge preferences page
now has the following new options:
- Always prompt before restarting merge
- Insert BOM in UTF-8 merge output if any UTF-8 contributor
contains BOM
- In addition, this page also contains a new Use this
tool as the default type option called ClearCase
Integrated (UTF-8).

- New Provider/Edit Provider preferences
- In the Window > Preferences > Team > IBM Rational ClearTeam
Explorer > Integration > Compare/Merge > Manage Providers dialog
box, there are new Add and Edit buttons
that invoke a new dialog box called the New Provider/Edit
Provider dialog box. You can use the New Provider/Edit
Provider dialog box to create or edit a new external provider
for compare/merge operations.

- Workspace preferences
- The Window > Preferences > Team > IBM Rational ClearTeam
Explorer > Workspace preferences page contains a new option
called Populate the Pending Changes view on startup.

- Groups preferences
- The Window > Preferences > Team > IBM Rational ClearTeam
Explorer > Groups preferences page now has a ClearCase
Primary Group (Web views only) option.
