The IBM Rational ClearTeam Explorer is a user interface that is powered by Eclipse technology and may be used by developers over both a local area network (LAN) or a wide area network (WAN). The ClearCase Remote Client includes many of the features provided by the native ClearCase client and can run on a broad range of Windows and UNIX systems.
With the Rational ClearTeam Explorer, you can access resources in repositories as ordinary files and directories under Rational ClearCase source control using either Dynamic views (LAN only) or Web views (LAN or WAN) or both. You can also add files and directories to Rational ClearCase, committing them to repositories and making them available to other team members.
To use Web views in the Rational ClearTeam Explorer, you must have a connection to a CCRC WAN server. To use Dynamic views, you must have the native ClearCase client (the "thick" client) installed on your machine in addition to the Rational ClearTeam Explorer (the "thin" client).
