Make changes to the fields of a Rational ClearQuest record
associated with a ClearCase UCM activity.
Before you begin
You must be connected to a Rational ClearCase server to view
the properties of a UCM activity. In a UCM project that is enabled
for Rational ClearQuest, you must also be logged in to the Rational
ClearQuest database that holds the activity.
Procedure
To modify a ClearQuest record:
- Connect to a ClearQuest database through the ClearTeam
Explorer. SeeConnecting to a Rational ClearQuest user database.
- Navigate to a ClearQuest query and click on it to run it. The query results set appears in the ClearTeam Details
view.
- Right-click on a query results set row and select Show
ClearQuest record from the context menu. The
ClearQuest record appears in the ClearQuest Details view.
- Click the Modify icon
before editing the record.
- Edit the fields of the record, or change its state by click
the Change State option list icon
and selecting a different state. You can also
delete the record, if your schema supports this operation, by clicking
the Utility icon
and selecting Delete.
- After editing the record, click the Commit icon
to save your changes or click
the Revert icon
to abandon them.
Results
To automatically modify a Rational ClearQuest record associated
with a UCM activity, your Rational ClearQuest policies must be configured
to automatically transition Rational ClearQuest records based on ClearCase
actions. For example, if you check out a file in a UCM project that
is configured to work with Rational ClearQuest and you select an existing
ClearCase UCM activity to associate with the checkout, Rational ClearQuest
will automatically transition the record as appropriate if the transition
does not require further information. If more information from you
is required, the ClearQuest record opens and the fields requiring
information are highlighted.
The following Rational ClearCase
UCM actions can automatically transition ClearQuest records:
- Add to source control
- Check in
- Check out
- Rename, move, or delete an element under ClearCase source control
- Deliver
- Finish activity
- Using the ClearCase Merge Manager,
which implicitly checks out and checks in files as part of merging
