Rational Rose sample model setup instructions

This project takes approximately 5 minutes. Before you import the Rose model, you must create the sample project.

Creating the sample project

Before you import the Rose sample model, you must add the model into your workspace using the Rose Sample Model wizard. This wizard automatically launches when you click the Create the sample project link on the Rose model import sample page.

  1. On the Rose model import sample page, click Create the sample project. The Rose Sample Model wizard opens with the project name specified as SampleRoseModel.
  2. In the Rose Sample Model wizard, click Finish.
  3. If you are prompted to switch to the Resource perspective, click Yes.

The sample model (RoseImportSample.mdl) and related Java and C++ source code are added to your workspace and appear in the Navigator view.

Note: Another Rose sample model also appears in the Navigator view. The RoseImportSample_custom.mdl file is used in the Rose model import tutorial.

Importing the Rose model

Once you have added the Rose sample model into your workspace, you can import it.

  1. In the Navigator view, select the RoseImportSample.mdl model.
  2. Click File > Import. The Import window opens.
  3. Click Rational Rose Model, and then click Next.
  4. On the Import a Rose Model page of the Rational Rose Model Import wizard, click the Source model Browse button.
  5. Click the RoseImportSample.mdl model, and then click Open.
  6. Verify that the SampleRoseModel project is specified as the existing project, and then click Next. The Resolve Subunits and Path map symbols page opens.
  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Map Property Sets page, select Import property sets as UML profiles and click Next.
  9. On the Map Stereotypes page, select Import stereotypes as UML profiles and click Next.
  10. Without modifying any of the Rose model import preferences, click Finish.

The Rose model imports and is now a UML 2.0 model. All property sets and stereotype configuration files import as UML 2.0 profiles.
