Interim Fix 002 corrects a problem affecting tests containing Custom Code that is created when you install Interim Fix 000a and optionally Interim Fix 001.
It is strongly recommended that all users install these three Interim Fixes to prevent potential data loss and to improve product performance.
For instructions on installing Rational Performance Tester 6.1 fix 002, see www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/rpt/61/html/ifix002/install.html.
There are no additional hardware requirements for installing this fix pack.
Interim Fix 000a and Interim Fix 001 must be installed before or with Interim Fix 002 for IBM Rational Performance Tester, Version 6.1.
This interim fix prevents the inadvertent deletion of user-entered (Java) Custom Code from tests as they are executed for the first time. It corrects a serious oversight in the computer code delivered in the previous Interim Fixes that was provided to allow for smooth migration of assets from release to release of the product.
This oversight introduced a defect which fails to recognize when a user has entered Java instructions into a newly created Custom Code action and therefore resets that code back to the default Java template value when the test is first run. This effectively deletes the user's Custom Java Code.
After applying this Interim Fix 002, the product will never automatically overwrite nor delete existing Custom Code files.
Interim Fix 002 cannot be rolled back individually. However, the version of the Rational Product Updater available at the time of writing does allow the simultaneous roll back of Interim Fix 001 AND Interim Fix 002. Users should NOT perform this roll back action as it will leave them vulnerable to the potential loss of user-entered Custom Code source.
If a customer believes that it is absolutely necessary to roll back Interim Fix 001, Rational recommends that they instead, uninstall IBM Rational Performance Tester V6.1 via the normal uninstall process and reinstall and NOT reapply Interim Fix 000a.
