1.0 Overview
This document describes how to install a downloaded version of the IBM® Rational® Performance Tester
IFeature001.
This document also links to instructions that describe how to create a local mirror of your product update server.
If you have not already completed the download, see Downloading the ifix for local installations for more information.
2.0 Installation prerequisites
Before you can install this feature, you must install IBM Rational Performance Tester 6.1 with Interim Fix 001 and Interim Fix 000a. See http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/rpt/61/html/ifix001/install.html and http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/rpt/61/html/ifix000a/install.html for instructions on installing the ifixes.
This feature only works with Windows® operating systems.
Also, if you disabled any product features through the Update Manager by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration, or by modifying feature.xml files, you must re-enable them before you install this feature.
3.0 Configuring the Rational Product Updater to install the local feature
Install the feature with the same user account that installed Rational Performance Tester.
Restrictions:
- Rational Performance Tester cannot be open when you install this feature.
- You must use an account with Administrator privileges.
To install the feature, complete the following steps:
- Click Start > Programs > IBM Rational > Rational Product Updater to start the Rational Product Updater.
- Click Preferences > Update Sites.
- Navigate to temp_dir\rpt\policy_siebel_ifeature001.xml, where temp_dir is the location of the extracted feature. See Downloading the feature for local installations for more information.
- Click OK.
- Click Find Optional Features.
- Select Interim Feature 001. If you have not installed Interim Fix 001 and Interim Fix 000a, a popup opens instructing you to do so before proceeding. To read the IFeature release notes prior to installing, click Interim Feature 001. The notes appear in the Detailed Information window.
- Click Install Features.
- To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click OK.
Depending on the speed of your computer processor and the amount of RAM in your computer, the feature might take an extended period of time to install.
After the installation is complete, the Rational Product Updater lists the installed features on the Installed Products page.
- Close the Rational Product Updater.
4.0 Creating a local mirror of the update server
You might want to create a local mirror of the Rational Performance Tester update server in the following situations:
- You administer a set of product installations that do not have direct access to the Internet.
- You administer a set of product installations that would benefit from a local mirror of the update server.

5.0 Uninstalling the feature
Uninstall the feature with the same user account that installed Rational Performance Tester.
Restrictions:
- Rational Performance Tester cannot be open when you uninstall this feature.
- You must use an account with Administrator privileges.
To uninstall the feature, complete the following steps:
- Start the Rational Product Updater:
- Click Start > Programs > IBM Rational > Rational Product Updater.
- Click the Rollbacks tab.
The Rollbacks page shows an inventory of updates and optional features that are currently installed for Rational Performance Tester.
- Select Interim Feature 001.
Dependencies between updates are automatically enforced. If you select to roll back an update that is required by other installed updates, the updates that depend on the update
are also selected to be rolled back.
- Click Roll Back Updates.
- Close the Rational Product Updater.
