To Ignore White Space in File Comparisons

You can specify that Diff Merge ignore any differences that occur in white space when comparing files. For example, white space may be a space character or a tab character.

  1. Click Edit > Properties. The Properties dialog box opens.
  2. Select or clear Ignore White Space in Comparison:
    • To ignore differences in white space, select it.
    • To consider differences found in white space, clear it.
    • The Status bar displays Ignore white space while that property is selected.

While Ignore White Space in Comparison is selected, the text in the merge panel title shows White space changes taken from contributor #, where # is replaced by the number identifying the contributor.

  3. Change whether to save this setting as a preference or use the setting for only this session. Select or clear Save as preference.
