What are IBM Rational Information Centers?

With the information center, users can view, browse, and search online product documentation & information. The information center is built upon open source software developed by the Eclipse Project (www.eclipse.org). It can display content that has been packaged as an Eclipse documentation plug-in.

The information center uses an embedded web application server to handle content requests in the system. This embedded web server uses a random port to avoid port conflicts between applications.

Product or application developers can create their own documentation plug-ins and integrate them in the information center for viewing by their users. To learn about creating and packaging documentation plug-ins, see the Eclipse Project's Web site: www.eclipse.org.

How do I find IBM Rational Information Centers?

The best way is from a product support page. If your product has an "Information center" - not all Rational software products have "Information centers" - then it's link would be listed under the "Product documentation" area of that product's support documentation page.

For example, Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software's "Information center" page may be found on it's product support documentation page - http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/developer/application/support/doc.html. It is the first link under "Product documentation" in the "Additional Documentation support links" section:
