Configuring HotJava Applet security settings
To configure security for HotJava:
- Start HotJava.
- Click Edit > Preferences > Applet Security.
- Maximize the browser window. If you do not, you may not see the
buttons at the bottom of the window.
- Change the default settings if you want to, then click
Apply.
- Click Advanced Security.
- Click Add Site.
- Type the host name or TCP/IP address of the server from which you will
download Host On-Demand, then click Add.
- Highlight the name you have just entered and click System
Permissions.
- In the Settings area in the lower part of the window, deselect
"Use default permissions for this site or certificate" and select
following:
- Applet can open windows without warning banners
- Applet may access all properties
- Applet may access clipboard
- Applet may access print jobs
- Click Apply.
- Click Access to Files.
- In the Settings area in the lower part of the window, add file
or directory names to the Allow the selection to read and
Allow the selection to write fields.
- Click Apply.
- Click Network Access.
- In the Settings area in the lower part of the window, make
whatever entries are necessary in the three dialog boxes, and set or disable
the warnings as necessary.
For example, in the Allow connecting to
these sites field, add the names of other Host On-Demand servers that you
want to connect to.
- Click Apply.
