2.3 Miscellaneous Differences Among Windows Platforms
In addition to the major issues of server/client functionality and command shell differences, there are a number of other ways in which ClearCase functionality varies among computers running different versions of Windows.
- Release areas
- ClearCase release areas can only be created on Windows NT and Windows 2000 computers; the siteprep program used to create release areas does not run on Windows 98 or Windows Me computers.
- Administration tools
- The ClearCase Administration Console is installed on Windows NT and Windows 2000 computers, but not on Windows 98 or Windows Me computers. You cannot install or run the Administration Console from a Windows 98 computer.
- Evaluation installations
- You can perform an evaluation installation on Windows NT and Windows 2000 computers, but not on Windows 98 or Windows Me computers.
- ClearCase File Service
- The ClearCase File Service (CCFS) is always enabled on Windows 98 and Windows Me computers. On Windows NT and Windows 2000 computers, you may choose whether to enable CCFS.
