Please read the Rational Download Manager release notes before you begin the installation process.
The installer for the Rational Download Manager is approximately 18 MB. Uncompressed, it occupies approximately 42 MB on your computer's hard drive. It runs in a Java run-time environment (JRE) using its own installed JRE.
Rational Download Manager does not install onto the same directory as other Rational products and there is no use of, or interaction with, Rational common products. It does not interact in any way with installers, uninstallers, or other installed Rational products, and does not disrupt installation or deinstallation of Rational Suite.
Click this link to download the Rational Download Manager installer file. You can either save the file to a local drive on your computer or install Rational Download Manager directly from www.rational.com by clicking Open in the File Download dialog box.
Once installation is complete, you are prompted to set Rational Download Manager's user preferences.
Download Directory
Select a directory in which to store your completed downloads.
Run at Startup
Select whether to run Download Manager at Windows startup.
New Version Notification
Select the checkbox if you would like to be notified automatically when a
new version of Rational Download Manager becomes available. During startup,
Rational Download Manager will check for a newer version on Rational's Web site
and notify you if a new version is available.
Connection Speed
Select your modem or network
connection speed to optimize download performance. The default connection speed
is Corporate Network/T1.
Maximum Number of Connections
Select the maximum number of
connections to be open during each download. Although a greater number of open
connections provides you with a more stable download, they also ensure a slower
download time. The default number of connections is 4.
Connection Time Out
Select the number of minutes your
computer attempts to reconnect a lost connection. The default time is 5
minutes.
HTTP Proxy Server Settings
Specify whether or not your network
uses a proxy server. Default is set to Do not use proxy server.
If you use a proxy server, contact your system administrator for proxy server information.
Temporary File Directory
Choose a directory in which
to store temporary files during a download.
Internal Communication Port
The Internal Communication Port is used by Rational
Download Manager to communicate with other subsystems and ensures that only one
instance of Rational Download Manager is running at a time.
Note: You should not change the Internal Communication Port settings unless instructed to do so by Rational Technical Support.
