Rational ClearQuest Service Release 2001A.04.01.293.012 is designed to be installed directly on top of ClearQuest v2001A.04.00. This service release comprises this release notes file and a self-extracting executable.
To
install this patch, please perform the following steps:
1. If the ClearQuest web is
installed on your machine you must ensure that the ClearQuest\WWW folder is not
read-only.
2.
Run the self-extracting executable ‘clearquest2001a.04.01.293.012.exe’.
3. Enter the location of your existing
ClearQuest or Rational Suite installation in the ‘Unzip to folder:’ field.
Please be sure to provide the name of the folder that contains the ClearQuest
folder.
4. Press the ‘Unzip’ button
to extract the service release into your installation.
No other configuration is necessary.
Users may immediately begin running the ClearQuest client.
To install this
patch, please perform the following steps:
1.
Manually back up the existing requisitepro.exe file, the RqDatatransportWiz.exe,
and the rqprores.dll files that the patch will overwrite. It is
important that you backup these files by copying them to another location.
Renaming the files or removing them will cause the installation to fail. The
default location for all these files is the [drive]\Program
Files\Rational\RequisitePro\bin directory. Complying with this directive
will ensure that you can quickly restore your system in the event that a failure
occurs while you are installing the patch.
2.
Ensure that RequisitePro is not running. Run the RequisitePro2001a.04.03.293.001.exe
file.
3. Start RequisitePro.
The patch is installed. The new RequisitePro User's Guide (requisitepro_using.pdf)
can now be found in [installation
folder]/Rational/doc. The default installation location is C:\Program Files\Rational\doc, but if you have installed to a
custom location, the RequisitePro2001a.04.03.293.001.exe file will locate the doc folder
and install the User's Guide there automatically. If you are working in a team
environment, you may copy the document to a more convenient location on your
network later.
Check that there is a valid Rational Rose 2001a installed and ensure that file and directory permissions allow writing to the file listed in section 3.

To install this
patch, please perform the following steps:
If you have installed Rose Enterprise Edition you will need all of the files in this patch zip and should install them using the following steps:
1. Extract the self-extracting zip file. The default location is C:\Program Files\Rational. If you have installed Rose to a different location then you will need to change the default location.
From the command line, register the following dll’s using regsrv32 with the commands:
C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\Java> regsvr32 rjava_addin.dll
C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\Ansi C++> regsvr32 cppevent.dll
C:\Program
Files\Rational\Rose\datamodeler> regsvr32 RoseDataModeler.Dll
C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\Web Modeler> regsvr32 wm-xml.dll
If you have installed Rose Java Professional Edition. Follow the install instructions for the Rose Enterprise Edition.
From the command line, register the Rjava_addin.dll and rjava_addinres.dll using regsrv32 with the commands:
C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose> regsvr32 rjava_addin.dll
If you have installed Rose Data Modeler Professional Edition, you do not need any of the files except the Data Modeler files. However, you should not encounter any errors if you extract all the files to the proper location. To install the patch on this installation, simply extract the files and register your RoseDataModeler.dll.
C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\datamodeler> regsvr32 RoseDataModeler.Dll
If you have installed any other edition of Rose, then you will only need to follow steps for the Enterprise section. You will not need to register any files.
What to do After
Installation:
Reboot the machine to ensure Windows handled
everything ok.
What to do Before
Installation:
Check that there is a valid Rose RealTime
v2001A.04.00 installed and ensure that file and directory permissions allow
writing to the file listed in the defects and changes section.
If Rose RealTime has been network/admin installed, the patch applies to the server machine only. Please contact your administrator to install the patch.
Some Windows virus checking software will warn about the gzip'ed files (those files with the .gz extension). This warning can be safely ignored. There should be no virus's reported during the extraction of the patch files when using winzip.
How to Install
this Patch:
1. Ensure there is no running instance of Rose RealTime on the system to update.
2. Ensure that you DELETE ALL EXISTING .chw files from your $ROSERT_HOME/Help directory.
Any existing .chw files that you may have will not correspond to the new help files.
3. Copy the appropriate files for your platform to your $ROSERT_HOME directory.
·
On Windows you would need RoseRealTime2001a.04.03.293.003.exe which will
use winzip to extract the files into %ROSERT_HOME% -- usually this is the
directory "C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose RealTime”
4. (optional). This patch includes changes to the C++ TargetRTS source files. These changes are included in RoseRealTime2001a.04.03.293.003.target.tar.gz.
·
If you are having problems with the Target Observation feature and
missing messages, you should untar this fix into the TargetRTS directory and
rebuild the configurations that you use.
·
If
you are not having these problems -- which are generally described as RQART
incorrectly reports missing messages, then it is not necessary to install these
files.
What to do After Installation:
The accompanying tar files are no longer needed. However, if you wish to retain them if
a re-installation is required, place these tar files in $ROSERT_HOME/specials.
Run the toolset and ensure that the build number is 6.3.137.0. (If it is
not, then the patch was not applied correctly.)
To verify the online help, start Rose RealTime, from the Help menu,
click
contents, then click the Index tab. If the Index crashes or is blank,
then
the patch was not applied correctly.
Reload and Rebuild Java Models
No additional steps needed
Rebuild C++ models
Run the toolset and ensure that the build number of
RQA is 6.3.150.0. . (If it is
not, then the patch was not applied correctly.)
