Getting Started

What to do Before Installation

Check that there is a valid Rational Rose 2001a installed and ensure that file and directory permissions allow writing to the file listed in section 3.

Installation Information

Files Modified for this Patch

In this zip file you will find the following files:

1.       rose.exe

2.       roseres.dll

3.       RoseDataModeler.Dll

4.       RoseDataModelerResources.Dll

5.       RoseDataModeler.zip

6.       j2eemd.bmp

7.       RforteLink.jarContent

8.       rjava_addin.dll

9.       rjava_addinres.dll

10.   RforteLink.jar

11.   RJBuilderLink.jar

How to Install this Patch:

If you have installed Rose Enterprise Edition you will need all of the files in this patch zip and should install them using the following steps:

1.       Extract the zip file to a directory

2.       Copy rose.exe and roseres.dll to C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose (or your installation area if the default was not used).

  1. Copy the RoseDataModeler.Dll, RoseDataModelerResources.Dll, and the RoseDataModeler.zip (do NOT unzip this file) into the C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\datamodeler
  2. Copy the j2eemd.bmp, rjava_addin.dll, rjava_addinres.dll into the C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\java directory
  3. If you have Forte installed, copy the RforteLink.jarContent and RforteLink.jar to the <forte_install_dir>\modules
  4. If you have Jbuilder 4 installed, copy the RJBuilderLink.jar to the <jbuilder_install_dir>\lib\ext, typically C:\Jbuilder4

From the command line, register the Rjava_addin.dll and RoseDataModeler.dll using regsrv32 with the commands:

            C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\Java> regsvr32 rjava_addin.dll

            C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\datamodeler> regsvr32 RoseDataModeler.Dll

If you have installed Rose Java Professional Edition, you do not any files except for the ones listed in step 4 above.  Copying these files to your install area will not cause any problems, but also will not add any features to your installation of Rose.  Follow the install instructions for the Rose Enterprise Edition.

From the command line, register the Rjava_addin.dll and rjava_addinres.dll using regsrv32 with the commands:

            C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose> regsvr32 rjava_addin.dll

If you have installed Rose Data Modeler Professional Edition, you do not need the rjava_addin.dll and rjava_addinres.dll files.  It is not recommended that you copy these files or register them on your computer as doing so will partially install features from the Rose Java Professional Edition, but will result in errors in the execution of Rose.   To install the patch on this installation, simply copy the rose.exe and roseres.dll files to your Rational Rose installation area, typically C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose. Then copy RoseDataModeler.Dll, RoseDataModelerResources.Dll, and the RoseDataModeler.zip files to your Data Modeler directory, typically C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\datamodeler.

C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose\datamodeler> regsvr32 RoseDataModeler.Dll

If you have installed any other edition of Rose, you only need to replace the rose.exe and roseres.dll files.  Copying the other files to your system is not recommended as this may cause errors in the execution of Rose.  To install the patch on this installation, simply copy the rose.exe, and roseres.dll files to your Rational Rose installation area, typically

C:\Program Files\Rational\Rose

What to do After Installation:

Reboot the machine to ensure Windows handled everything ok.
