Installation Information ------------------------------------------ Minimum System Requirements: - Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 9X and Win2000 - Pentium-based computer system - 64 Mb of RAM (memory requirements increase with the size of the model) - A minimum of 200 Mb of disk space - An SVGA-compatible display (256 or more colors recommended) with the resolution set at 800 X 600 pixels. - Any pointing device with at least two buttons Please read the release notes (located from the start menu) for any known install issues. ------------------------------------------ 2. Uninstall Information ------------------------------------------ To uninstall a Rational product, please go to the Windows Control Panel and select your Rational product using the Add/Remove Programs utility. Please DO NOT attempt to remove a product by just deleting program directories - there are many registry entries that need to be modified as well. If you plan to re-install a Rational Suite product after uninstalling a Rational Suite product, we recommend you reboot your system prior to running the new install. The Rational Software setup program may install Microsoft Shared components into the Windows 9X System, and Windows NT System32 directories. These Microsoft components are not removed when you uninstall Rational Suite. Other programs may use these files; therefore, following Microsoft guidelines, we do not remove them from your system. After completing the uninstall, a minimal number of files will remain under the directory :\Program Files\Rational\. You may manually delete these files if you wish to remove them from your system. ------------------------------------------ 3. Licensing Information ------------------------------------------ *** YOU MUST INSTALL A LICENSE KEY TO RUN THIS PRODUCT *** You will get a temporary/Startup license key in email after downloading this release. Please check the online help for the License Key Administrator for detailed instructions on how to install your startup license key and how to request your permanent license key. Startup - The startup license key is a number you may enter into the License Key Administrator software which allows your product to run for a limited amount of time. ------------------------------------------ 4. Known Licensing Limitations ------------------------------------------ Issue Number: WSBU00004468 The License Key Administrator does not reflect the proper number of floating licenses when you manually enter a permanent key. Rational BackOffice maintains the correct number. Workaround: correct number of licenses display after importing the permanent key. Issue Number: WSBU00004009 Performing an uninstall of the Globetrotter FLEXlm license server only seems to remove references to FLEXlm within the registry, and does not remove the FLEXlm GUI from the system (it still shows up in the Control Panel). ------------------------------------------ 5. Rational Rose ------------------------------------------ 148165 - Installing to a pathname with foreign Chars causes Rose to crash. If you do not accept the default directory when installing Rose, Rose must be installed to a directory containing only ascii characters. Accepting the default directory requires no additional care or attention. See the Known Rose Problems and Limitations section in the Winhelp version of the release notes for more information. ------------------------------------------ 6.
