Problem with System Panics with ClearCase on SGI IP27 Series Solved for Releases 3.1.1 and 3.2; New Patch Issued

Rational Engineering has solved the problem affecting ClearCase users on Silicon Graphics IP27 series machines. Patches for Release 3.1.1 and Release 3.2 are now available on the ClearCase customer-only Web site at clearcase.rational.com. The problem was reported as Rational defect # 27223.

These patches eliminate the problem that was causing system panics when running ClearCase on IRIX V6.4 on SGI's IP27 series machines. The problem was related to the fact that the vnode structure on the IP27 series differs from other SGI machines.

Earlier editions of ClearCase Technical Bulletin #27 warned against installing ClearCase patch 3.1.1-55 and/or against installing ClearCase Release 3.2 on machines in the IP27 series.

If you install ClearCase patch 3.1.1-60 on machines in the IP27 series, you are also installing the functionality from ClearCase patch 3.1.1-55. In fact, this fix is correct for all architectures.

In addition, you can now install Release 3.2 on IP27 series machines, providing that you also install ClearCase patch 3.2-18,

These patches are mandatory.
