UPDATE: Problem with Patch System for 3.1.1UNIX Solved, New Patches Prepared and Available

The ClearCase Product Group Patch System for ClearCase Release 3.1.1 on UNIX was temporarily disabled due to problems with building patches. The problem resulted in incorrect builds of patches clearcase_p3.1.1-23 through clearcase_p3.1.1-53.

New versions of these patches have been prepared and are now available at the ClearCase Customer-Only Web Site at clearcase.rational.com and at the FTP site at ftp.atria.com

There is no database corruption associated with the old incorrectly built patches. The patches are wrong because the information in the "Also fixes these bugs" list is wrong. The old patches do not fix the bugs given in those lists. The new patches correct these problems.

The old patches have been rolled up and replaced by two new patches: clearcase_p3.1.1-54 and clearcase_p3.1.1-55. The patch clearcase_p3.1.1-54 replaces a group of libraries and executables affected by the damaged patches and the patch clearcase_p3.1.1-55 provides a new MVFS for all platforms.

The new patches are mandatory.

Here is a list of the files replaced in clearcase_p3.1.1-54:

The patch clearcase_p3.1.1-55 provides a new MVFS for all platforms, rolling up all the MVFS patches affected by the patch system problem. This patch also includes an improved fix for bug #19586 concerning multi-machine MVFS caching problem, and a fix for bug #26637, correcting an MVFS problem affecting kernel heap memory.
