The corrective service files in this directory are of the form: U4xxxxx.tar.Z This means that they have been processed by the tar program and then compressed. The latest PTF (U462317) supersedes all previous PTFs for MQSeries for Sun Solaris V5.0 and it contains updates to the following components of MQSeries for Sun Solaris: runtime MQSeries Runtime support for external applications server MQSeries server support for client connections dce_server MQSeries support for DCE in server sol_client MQSeries client for Sun Solaris and client for Java mqlink MQSeries link to Lotus Notes samples MQSeries sample application programs Ja_JP MQSeries Messages - Japanese base MQSeries Base Kit for Client and Server dce_samples MQSeries support for DCE in Samples java_clnt MQSeries Client for Java - Runtime De_DE MQSeries Messages - German Es_ES MQSeries Messages - Spanish Fr_FR MQSeries Messages - French It_IT MQSeries Messages - Italian Ko_KR MQSeries Messages - Korean Pt_BR MQSeries Messages - Portuguese-Brazilian Zh_CN MQSeries Messages - Simplified Chinese Zh_TW MQSeries Messages - Traditional Chinese java_bind MQSeries Java Bindings java_base MQSeries Java Base To use the latest PTF file, perform the following steps: 1) download the file to your local system in binary mode 2) uncompress U462317.tar.Z 3) tar -xvf U462317.tar Applying Maintenance to MQSeries for Sun Solaris V5.0 ----------------------------------------------------- These steps will ensure that you are left with files that are installable using the normal install method for your platform. +--- ATTENTION --------------------------------------------------+ | | | Do not have any queue managers operating during installation | | of maintenance on MQSeries for Sun Solaris V5.0. | | | | Remove any existing MQSeries shared memory and/or semaphores | | before applying or removing maintenance updates to MQSeries | | for Sun Solaris. | | | +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | To end all running queue managers: | | | | 1. End the queue manager by issuing the command: | | | | endmqm -i QMgrName | | | | 2. Check that the queue manager has ended. | | | | Use the command: | | | | endmqm -p QMgrName | | | | and check that the message queue manager is not running. | | | | Alternatively, use the command: | | | | ps -ef | grep amq | | | | where | is the pipe symbol. This allows a PTF to be removed, and the previous level is automatically restored. If disk space is limited, the backup can be suppressed by creating an empty flag file called: MQPTF_NOSAVE in the directory /var/sadm/pkg However, note that if this option is used, the previous level will not be restored if a PTF is removed. The only way to restore a previous level in this instance is to reapply a previous cumulative PTF image. APPLYING THE MAINTENANCE INFORMATION ------------------------------------ Use the pkgadd command to install the update: pkgadd -d For further information on using PKGADD to install software packages, see the Solaris documentation. If you have installed an MQI client, for one of the following systems, from your MQSeries for Sun Solaris installation: Solaris DOS OS/2 Windows and if one or more of these client components have been updated by installing this PTF, then you must specifically update the MQI client installation. This requires you to copy files from MQSeries for Sun Solaris to appropriate directories on your client installation. The set of files to be updated is given in instructions for installing the client. These instructions can be found in the MQSeries System Management Guide for Sun Solaris. RESTORING THE PREVIOUS BACKUP VERSION ------------------------------------- If you need to restore from backup, to the previous level of maintenance then you perform the following steps: 1. Log in as root (or use the command su). 2. Use the pkgrm command to remove the latest PTF update: pkgrm mqm-upd07 Errors displayed of the form are of type 'warning' and can be ignored. Details of the pkgrm command can be found by using the man pkgrm command. 3. If you have installed an MQI client for Solaris, DOS, OS/2 or Windows and these clients were updated after installing the PTF which is being removed, then you should repeat the procedure for updating an MQI client after the PTF has been removed.
