INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INFORMATION ---------------------------------------- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INFORMATION FOR WINDOWS NT AND WINDOWS 95 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A) Applying Maintenance -------------------- This PTF requires approximately 11MB of disk space to save the previous level. This allows a PTF to be removed, and the previous level automatically restored. To apply maintenance updates to your MQEI product: 1. Ensure that MQEI is not in use by Notes or Domino. You may have to terminate Notes or Domino to achieve this. 2. If you are installing from CD then insert the maintenance CD into the appropriate drive. If you are installing after downloading the CSD from the World Wide Web then ensure you are connected to the directory containing the CSD image. 3. On Windows NT V4.0 or Windows 95, select the Start menu then select "Run". On Windows NT V3.51, from Windows Program Manager select the "File" pulldown then select "Run". Then type ":\win32\mqeicsd1\setup" where is the drive letter you are installing from and click OK. The pathname may need modifying if you downloaded this CSD from the web and unzipped into a temporary directory. 4. You will be presented with the "Welcome" dialog. Select the "Next>" button. 5. When prompted with the prompt "Do you wish to backup the current version of the product?", it is recommended that you reply "Yes". 6. Select the backup directory (it is recommended that you leave the default directory), and then select the "Next>" button. 7. From the "Start Copying Files" dialog, verify that the information displayed matches your requested choices, and then select the "Next>" button to proceed. 8. Select the "Finish" button to complete the installation of the CSD. B) Restoring the Previous Backup Version ------------------------------------- If you need to restore from backup, to the previous level of maintenance: 1. C) Querying the Service Level -------------------------- On Windows NT V4.0 or Windows 95, use the Start menu to navigate to the "Programs" sub menu, select "MQSeries Enterprise Integrator", and finally select the memo.ptf file. On Windows NT V3.51 open the MQSeries Enterprise Integrator folder, and double-click on the memo.ptf file. This shows the memo.ptf file containing the service level and details of the maintenance applied (PTF number). This file is also included in the root directory of the CD. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INFORMATION FOR OS/2 ------------------------------------------------- A) Applying Maintenance -------------------- This PTF requires approximately 14MB of disk space to save the previous level. The Restore action is only applicable if, when using the Update action, the option to save a backup copy was selected. 2. The MQEI folder will be closed and reinitialized. This means that all folder settings will be reset to their default values. Due to a bug this means the mqeihelp.pdf icon will be lost from the folder. 3. All changed files at the current maintenance level will be overwritten, without requiring confirmation by the user, with corresponding files saved from the previous maintenance level. However new files at the current maintenance level will not be deleted. C) Querying the Service Level -------------------------- After initial installation, service level has the value "0000000" After one or more updates, service level indicates from which CSD the product was most recently updated. Service level is expressed in terms of the PTF number for a particular CSD. To query the service level: 1. This allows a PTF to be removed, and the previous level automatically restored. To apply maintenance updates to your MQEI product: 1. Log in as root (or use the command su). 2. Ensure that MQEI is not in use by Notes or Domino. You may have to terminate Notes or Domino to achieve this. 3. If you are installing from CD then insert the maintenance CD into the appropriate drive. If you are installing after downloading the CSD from the World Wide Web then ensure you are connected to the server containing the CSD. 4. To display the appropriate SMIT panel, either enter the fastpath command: smitty install_selectable_all or if this is not available enter "smit" and and navigate to the "Install and Update From All Available Software" panel. 5. On the panel displayed, you need to enter the device name attached to your CD-ROM reader or server, and the directory in which the maintenance resides. Use PF4 to get a list of input devices. 6. Select "SOFTWARE to install". To install the maintenance, press PF4 for a list and select "mqei". 7. It is recommended that you use the displayed default values for all other fields, except for "COMMIT software" which you should set to "no", and "SAVE replaced files" which you should set to "yes". To start the reject click "OK" or press ENTER when the confirmation message appears. The command will run, terminating with an Installp Summary table confirming which components of MQEI have been rejected. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INFORMATION FOR SOLARIS ---------------------------------------------------- A) Applying Maintenance -------------------- The installation process for this PTF requires 5MB of disk space for the PTF and a further 5MB of disk space in the /var/sadm/pkg directory to save the previous level. This allows a PTF to be removed, and the previous level is automatically restored. If disk space is limited, the backup can be suppressed by creating an empty flag file called: MQPTF_NOSAVE in the directory /var/sadm/pkg However, note that if this option is used, the previous level will not be restored if a PTF is removed. The only way to restore a previous level in this instance is to reapply a previous cumulative PTF image. 4. If disk space is limited, the backup can be suppressed by creating an empty flag file called: MQPTF_NOSAVE in the directory /var/adm/sw/patch However, note that if this option is used, the previous level will not be restored if a PTF is removed. The only way to restore a previous level in this instance is to reinstall the product and then to reapply a previous PTF image. To apply maintenance updates to your MQEI product: 1. Log in as root (or use the command su). 2. Ensure that MQEI is not in use by Notes or Domino. You may have to terminate Notes or Domino to achieve this. 3. Use the swinstall command to install the maintenance as follows: swinstall -s//hp/hp-U200085.v10 substituting with the name you mounted your CD_ROM device as, or the server directory in which the CSD is available to you. 5. Select "MQEI", use the "Action" pulldown and select "Mark for install", then use the "Action" pulldown again and select "Install". 6. On the next panel displayed select "OK", then select "YES" when the confirmation panel is displayed. 7. When complete select "Done" to complete the install. If the command does not complete successfully, you can select "Logfile" to view any errors reported. To exit the install utility select the "File" pulldown then select "Exit". B) Restoring the Previous Backup Version ------------------------------------- If you need to restore from backup, to the previous level of maintenance: 1. Log in as root (or use the command su). 2.
