140754: Updated HTML Filter For Word Pro
PRODUCT: Word Pro 96 Edition for Windows 95,Word Pro 96 Edition (16 bit)

PROBLEM:
Updated files for Word Pro's HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) filter are now
available. This Technote covers the following areas for the updated HTML
filter:

I. Changes made to the HTML filter

II. How to obtain the updated files

III. How to install the updated files

IV. Creating a new HTML SmartMaster

SOLUTION:
I. Changes made to the HTML filter

The updated HTML filter address the following issues:

- Defaults to exporting the width of table columns without having to set
styles.

- Added ability to download cgi-generated graphics (e.g., "counter" graphics).

- HTML documents missing the <BODY> tag are now handled correctly.

- Changed indentions of list styles to match NetScape

- Internal links to documents bookmarks save correctly.

- Removed level-defined list styles (e.g., "Ordered List 1 (OL)", "Ordered List
2 (OL)", etc...) to outline-defined list styles ("Ordered List (OL)")

- Changed fonts and font sizes to match NetScape's default

- Import HTML as source code. For Word Pro for Windows 95 this requires
modifying the registry setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Lotus\WordPro\96.
0\lwphtml.ini\Import\ImportSource=1. For Word Pro for Windows 3.1 this requires
modifying the LWPHTML.INI file by adding the following section:

[Import]
ImportSource=1

- Styles mapping dialog on export

- Graphics' sizes: if the graphic frame is defined as "original size", no size
info is exported, else size info is exported.

- Support for table, table row, and table cell backgrounds

- Graphical bullets now exported as inline graphics in front of the paragraphs

- Table changes. On export, if the table is QuickAligned as "horizontal span,"
then the table width is exported as 100%, and all cell widths are exported as
percents. On import, if the table width is 100%, then "horizontal span" is
applied as the QuickAlign setting

II. How to obtain the updated files

IV. Creating a new HTML SmartMaster

After installing the new Word Pro HTML filters you will need to create a new
HTML SmartMaster to take advantage of the new HTML features. To create the new
HTML SmartMaster you will open the Default SmartMaster, and save this as an
HTML document, then open the HTML document. You will then need to save this
HTML document as the HTML SmartMaster.

1 Choose File / New Document.

2. Select the "Create a plain document' button, at the bottom.

3. With the Default SmartMaster on the screen, choose File / Save As.

4. Change the file type to "HTML(*.HTM), enter a filename, and press ENTER.

5. Choose File / Open, change file type to "HTML(*.HTM), then select the
document that you saved in Step 4 above.

6. Choose File / Save As.

7. Change the file type to "Word Pro SmartMaster", type in the filename
"HTML" (without the quote marks) and press ENTER.

NOTE: If you don't specify an extension, Word Pro will add .MWP to the
filename. It is also recommended to change to the directory where your Word Pro
SmartMasters are stored. You can determine this location by choosing File /
User Setup / Word Pro Preferences, then selecting the locations tab.
