Overview of Resource:

NotesCONNECT is an MSVC Application designed to test IP Connectivity for Windows NT and Window 95.

It uses the Notes SDK (or, more specifically the Notes NTI Layer). NotesCONNECT is designed to verify an End-to-End TCP/IP connection can be established, without using the Notes NAB or address resolution logic. It therefore is an ideal tool for determining if an TCP/IP connectivity problem is Notes-related or an IP infrastructure problem. This connection that is established is a TCP/IP connection, as opposed to an IP connection using ICMP. There is no application-specific or service-specific protocol or data exchanged, therefore, no Notes-specific data is exchanged.

NOTE: NotesCONNECT is not an officially marketed Lotus product. It is presented as a troubleshooting utility only. Therefore its use will not be directly supported by Lotus Support analysts.

Instruction on How to Use:

To install:

1.	Copy the NotesCONNECT executable NPING.EXE to the Notes program directory.
2.	Ensure the NOTES.INI file's directory is in your operating system's path.

To run:

1.	Enter a Host Name or IP Address in the Target Host Name or IP Address field.
2.	Select a Port Number. The Port List contains a list well known port numbers listed by service type. The default is Notes RPC Protocol port of 1352.
(To choose a port not on the list select "Other" and then fill in the Target Port Number field.)

By default NotesCONNECT will connect once to the target. Adjust the Connection Count Slider to increase the number of connections. A range of 1-5 connections is supported.

NOTE: NotesCONNECT does not support proxies or use across proxies.
