This patch for LearningSpace 2.5 corrects an issue in which the Launch button fails when students attempt to launch locally stored files, which is described in the following technote:

Unable to Launch Locally Stored Files Using Launch Button in LearningSpace 2.5 MediaCenter
Document #: 167985

To replace your existing MediaCenter with the new one, use the following steps:

1.	Copy the new MCENTER.NSF into a directory other than the LearningSpace directory; for example, copy it to C:\NOTES\DATA\TEMP. (This step is suggested so that you have a backup.)

2.	Add the icon for the new MCENTER.NSF to the desktop (File, Database, Open, Add Icon). Make sure the icon is selected.

3.	Select File, Database, New Copy.

4.	For the Server name, type or select the name of the server on which LearningSpace 2.5 is installed. You can leave the title as "LSpace 2.5 MediaCenter Template," or you can give the database a new title. For the filename, enter MCENTER.NTF. Click OK. The new copy is created in the Notes \DATA directory.

5.	Select the icon for the MediaCenter you wish to correct. You can correct an individual course or all courses. LearningSpace allows you to base the design of a course on a default design or a customized design.

a. Correcting One Course

Select the icon for the existing course's MediaCenter (MCENTER.NSF), found in the course subdirectory, for example, /lspace/course1/mcenter.nsf.

b. Correcting New Courses and Courses Based on the Default Design

Select the icon for the default MediaCenter found in the LSPACE\TEMPLATES directory (MCENTER.NSF).

6.	Select File, Database, Replace Design. Select the title of the NTF file created in Step 4, either "Lspace 2.5 MediaCenter Template" or the new title that you assigned. Click Replace.

Correcting Courses Based on a Customized Library

The following steps tell you how to correct existing courses that use customization libraries. To correct these courses, you must create the new templates as described above and then create a new course based on a packed course.

Note: Before performing the following steps, make sure to follow the steps given above to correct the problem for New courses.

Warning: You must also download and install the LearningSpace 2.5 Central Patch before proceeding with the following steps. To obtain the Central Patch, refer to the document "LearningSpace 2.5 Central Patches" (# 2847 ).

1.	Pack the existing course. To do so, open LearningSpace Central, click Administrator Tools, click Course Tools, select Pack the course, and click OK. LearningSpace presents the CoursePack Options dialog box. Type in a CoursePack filename and database title and click OK. After LearningSpace finishes packing the course, click OK to dismiss the "Course packing is complete" message.

2.	(Optional) Archive and delete the existing course. To do so, click Course Tools, choose "Archive course then delete," and then follow the instructions on your screen.

3.	Create a new course. In the New Course Options dialog box, select "Create from course pack," then select "Select from available libraries." Select the customization library on which the course you packed in Step 1 was based, then click OK.

4.	In the Course Pack Location dialog box, select the course pack you created in Step 1, and click OK.

5.	Follow the directions in the LearningSpace Instructors Guide for creating a new course, filling in the dialog boxes with the same course name, database title, course code, and course type, and other information of the original course.

Note: In the Course Access dialog box, be sure to add any course participants.
