			Pre-Installing a Full Directory
			in cc:Mail Mobile for Windows

Support Services Technote

Purpose

This technote provides you with the necessary steps to pre-install a full
directory listing for your new cc:Mail Mobile for Windows users. This
document is intended for new installations of Mobile. Users that are
upgrading from cc:Mail Remote for DOS should convert their directory and
existing mailbox with the DBXLATE conversion utility. Refer to the
technote entitled Converting a DOS Remote Mailbox to Mobile for Windows
for information on the DBXLATE utility.

Summary

As the cc:Mail administrator, you need to create a universal PO (post
office) using a generic user name and password. Using the Import and
Export utilities, set up this universal PO with a full directory listing
from your Home PO, copy those database files into the directory that the
Mobile users use for their database, and reconfigure the Mobile PO for
each user.

Steps to Set Up Mobile

Start cc:Mail Mobile for Windows, and create a new Mobile PO by accessing
a directory where a PO database does not exist. Perform the following
steps:

1.	Install Mobile for Windows on the user's laptop machine.

2.	Log in as the Mobile user, and allow Mobile to create a
directory for this person's PO. Take note of the directory you use in the
box labeled PO Path. Click OK and Cancel when you are prompted to create
	a PO.

3.	Export the directory from the Home PO using the DIRECTORY/PROP
switch (see the cc:Mail Import/Export manual for details on how to export
	a directory).

4.	Create the universal Mobile PO with a generic name and password
by starting Mobile for Windows and entering the generic name and password
	at the Login screen.

5.	Take note of the directory that cc:Mail assigns as the PO Path
for this new user (for example, Username: test, Password: test).

(Note:	This user does not need to exist in the home PO directory.)

6.	Finish the setup by creating the PO, entering the user's Home PO
name, and setting up a communication method.

7.	Exit cc:Mail Mobile for Windows.

8.	At a DOS prompt, use the Import command to import the Home PO
directory into the universal PO (see the cc:Mail Import/Export manual for
instructions on importing directory entries). Import requires that you
enter the name and password of the PO on the command line. The name of
the Mobile PO that you are importing into is LOCALPO, and the password is
the generic password that you used when creating the universal Mobile PO
	(for example, test).

(Note:	This process might take awhile depending on the size of the
directory that you import. See the Considerations section for information
on how to preconfigure a Mobile PO to accept more than 4,000 entries.)

9.	Copy all the files from the universal PO directory to the PO
Path that the Mobile user uses on his/her laptop computer.

10.	Start Mobile for Windows. Log in with the generic user name
and password. Specify the path to the Mobile user's PO Path. Click off
the box labeled Add Name to Login List so that the generic user name is
not added to the list of Mobile users. Go to the Address Book, and delete
the name of the new Mobile user. Change the name of this Local user to
the name of the Mobile user, making sure to enter the name the same way
you did during the initial login. Verify that the Home PO is correctly
addressed while in Mobile for Windows.

11.	Access User Setup from within Mobile for Windows, and change
the password from the generic user's password to the Mobile user's
	password.

12.	Exit cc:Mail mobile. The Mobile user can access the Mobile PO
with the original name and password.

Considerations

If the directory that you are exporting from the Home PO has more than
4,000 entries, then run WMREORG to expand the size of the Mobile database
to accept a large amount of directory entries. Pre-allocating the space
in the database for a large number of entries speeds up the importing
process.

Command Line Examples

(Note:	Command lines may be wrapped in these examples because of
	line-length limitations.)

For EXPORT

c:\ccmobile\export <home po name> <home po password> <path to home po>
@ccmdir.exp directory/prop.

For IMPORT

c:\ccmobile\import localpo <user password> <path to generic po>
@ccmdir.exp directory/l.

(Note:	The addition of /l after the directory parameter instructs Import
to list the entries to the screen as they are imported. This feature
allows you to monitor the progress of Import.)

For WMREORG

c:\ccmobile\wmreorg localpo <user password> <path to generic po> directory/n

(n= number of directory entries, in thousands).
