Issues Resolved in this Update
==============================

All Lotus cc:Mail Win32 applications shipped prior to 2/26/97 work
incorrectly with any database file that is two gigabytes or larger.
This problem does not affect any Lotus cc:Mail DOS, Win16, or OS/2
applications. In most customer enviornments, the file that will
approach and or exceed two gigabytes is CCPOMS.00.

Problems that can occur if a Lotus cc:Mail Win32 application
accesses a post office with a CCPOMS.00 that is larger than two
gigabytes are:

. Users will see the message "Message can not be read" in their
  Inboxes or other folders.

. Message headings in user Inboxes or other folders will be blank.

. The CCPOMS.00 file will be truncated, resulting in loss of all
data in the post office and recoverable only by restoring the
  post office from backup.

Products Affected by this Update
================================

If you are an administrator of any or all of the following products,
you should follow the steps outlined in Installing this Update:
Lotus cc:Mail Release 7 for Windows (LAN and Mobile)
Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 for the World Wide Web (cc:Mail Web)
Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 Link to SMTP

Installing this Update
======================

In addition to this readme file, this ZIP file contains two DLLs.
CFILEW32.DLL is used with Lotus cc:Mail Release 7 for Windows and
Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 for the World Wide Web. CFW601.DLL is
used with Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 Link to SMTP.

Lotus cc:Mail Release 7 for Widnows
-----------------------------------
Tell each user to use the following steps. The steps must be
performed on each workstation.

1. If cc:Mail is running, close it.
2. Find CFILEW32.DLL on your workstation in the
   \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (Win95) or WINNT\SYSTEM32 (WinNT) directory.
3. Rename the existing file to CFILEW32.OLD.
4. Copy the updated CFILEW32.DLL to the same directory.
5. Restart cc:Mail Release 7 for Windows. With the updated DLL,
any database file, up to four gigabytes, can be accessed.

Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 for the World Wide Web
----------------------------------------------
The administrator should perform the following steps:

1. Stop the cc:Mail Web server by stopping your HTTP server.
2. Find CFILEW32.DLL in the cc:Web executable directory.
        (default is \HTTP\CCMAIL)
3. Rename the existing CFILEW32.DLL to CFILEW32.OLD.
4. Copy the updated CFILEW32.DLL to the \WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory.
5. Restart Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 for the World Wide Web.

With the updated file, Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 for the World Wide
Web will not damage the cc:Mail post office. However, once a
post office contains a CCPOMS.00 that is larger than two
gigabytes, cc:Web will not be able to access that post office.
This problem will be fixed in a future update of Lotus cc:Mail
Release 6 for World Wide Web.

Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 Link to SMTP
------------------------------------
The administrator should perform the following steps:

1. If Link to SMTP is running, close it.
2. Find CFW601.DLL in the \WINNT\SYSTEM directory on the Windows NT
machine that is running Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 Link to SMTP.
Note: This file is different than the CFILEW32.DLL file
           used by other Win32 applications.
3. Rename the existing CFW601.DLL to CFW601.OLD.
4. Copy the updated CFW601.DLL to the \WINNT\SYSTEM directory.
5. Restart Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 Link to SMTP. With the updated
file, Lotus cc:Mail Release 6 Link to SMTP can access any
database file up to four gigabytes in size.
