     ADR2DAT Utility for Lotus cc:Mail Link to SMTP - PRERELEASE
     ===========================================================

Lotus cc:Mail has created a prerelease ADR2DAT.EXE conversion utility
for converting existing ASCII flat files (SMTP.ADR files), which
were used in the earlier Release 2.x DOS-based Link to SMTP
gateway, into a Windows 32-bit binary data table that forms the
Address Translation Table (SMTADD.DAT) used in Lotus cc:Mail
Release 6 and Release 8 Link to SMTP.

The earlier ASCII flat file format was changed to a binary file
format to increase performance when Link to SMTP gateway performs
its address translations.

cc:Mail and SMTP Name Format Examples
-------------------------------------
The following syntax and examples show the cc:Mail and SMTP user
name formats supported by ADR2DAT.EXE:

   cc:Mail user name<=>SMTP name

   John Valentine<=>jvalentine@smtpgate.abc.com
   Denise Allison<=>dallison@smtpgate.abc.com
   Kathy Walker<=>kwalker@smtpgate.abc.com

NOTE Tab delimited text files are not supported by the ADR2DAT
utility.

Before Starting ADR2DAT
-----------------------
Before you use ADR2DAT, you must shut down the Link to SMTP gateway.
Lotus cc:Mail is developing a dynamic conversion utility for a
future release that does not require you to shut down the Link to
SMTP gateway to convert SMTP.ADR files the SMTADD.DAT format.

Unlike the current release of Link to SMTP gateway, ADR2DAT
does not perform any checking to determine if the user name is a
valid cc:Mail address when adding new entries to the Address
Translation Table. If the cc:Mail user name is not valid, Link
to SMTP gateway rejects the incoming message as undeliverable.

Using ADR2DAT on the Command Line
---------------------------------
Use the following command-line syntax with ADR2DAT:

   ADR2DAT [options] SourceADRfilename TargetDATfilename

You can use the following command-line options with ADR2DAT:

   -S Skips errors when adding data to the Address Translation
       Table.

   -R Use Replace mode (the default mode is "ADD").

   -O  Overwrites the output file.

EXAMPLE:

   ADR2DAT -S C:\SMTP.ADR C:\SMTADD.DAT
