XA coordination on a system with multiple WebSphere MQ installations
Highlights restrictions where multiple installations of WebSphere® MQ are using XA coordination through ODBC.
WebSphere Message Broker supports multiple installed versions of WebSphere MQ but has a restriction on Linux and UNIX systems when two or more of these installations are using XA coordination through ODBC.
The mqsimanagexalinks command creates links in the WebSphere MQ default location for exits. The path name of the default location is dependent on the system in use, as follows:
- All Linux and UNIX systems except Linux on x86
- /var/mqm/exits64
- Linux on x86 only
- /var/mqm/exits
Users must not use the installation-specific subdirectory of the exits and exits64 path for the database switch load files when using ODBC. This imposes the following restrictions on Linux and UNIX:
- Multiple installations of WebSphere MQ on the same system, that are to act as transaction managers for brokers that use ODBC, must all use the same database switch load files from the default exits path.
- The ODBC database switch file links created in the default exits path must all belong to the same version of WebSphere Message Broker.
