Creating a service from scratch

Use the Start by creating a service quick start wizard to create a service to contain your Web services solution.

To find out more about using services to manage a Web service solution, see Services.

  1. To open the New Service wizard, click New > Start by creating a service.
  2. Enter a name for the service, and optionally a description.
  3. Select one of the following options:
    • To define your service from scratch, choose Create a new service interface and click Finish.
    • To base your service on an imported WSDL, complete the following steps:.
      1. Choose Create a service by selecting an existing WSDL file and click Next
      2. Select existing WSDL from your workspace, or from an external location, and click Next.
      3. Select the WSDL bindings to import, click Next to view any warnings, and then click Finish.
A service is created and is shown in the service editor. If you have imported a WSDL, operations defined in the WSDL are shown. You can expand the service in the Broker Development view to view operations and associated resources.
  4. Edit the operations defined in the service interface using the Interface tab of the service editor.
Implement the operations that are defined in your service interface. For more information, see Implementing a service operation.
