This is part of the larger task of creating a broker on z/OS.
Before you start
Before starting this step, you must have completed Creating the STEPLIB_NAME member for a broker
Submit the following jobs one at a time in the order specified from your broker PDSE. You need SYSADM or SYSCTRL authority to submit the DB2 jobs. Check that one job has successfully completed before you submit the next. When all these jobs have run successfully, you will not need to submit them again during a subsequent recustomization, unless you are directed to by IBM.
The SQL in broker PDSE member BIPDBGR grants unlimited access to the tables by default. Review and change this statement before submitting BIP$DB05.
If you want to use large objects (LOBs) in your DB2 tables, follow the instructions in Changing the DB2 database creation parameters to deal with large objects.
Submission order | DB2 job | Description |
1 | BIP$DB01 | Creates a storage group |
2 | BIP$DB02 | Creates a database |
3 | BIP$DB03 | Creates the table spaces |
4 | BIP$DB04 | Creates the tables |
5 | BIP$DB05 | Grants authorities to the tables |
If each step works you will get return code 0 and see that the step BAD is flushed.
If you encounter problems, stop the broker, use the job BIP#DB01 to delete the definitions, resolve the problem, and begin submitting the create jobs again starting with BIP$DB01.
You might get nonzero return codes from BIP#DB01 as the job tries to delete objects that do not exist. If you get SQLCODE=-923 when running the job, try using DSNTEP2 instead of DSNTIAD, by editing mqsicompcif and running mqsicustomize again.
