Applying user-defined functions

The following steps show you how to insert or apply a previously created ESQL or mapping user-defined function using the Compose Mapping Expression editor.

  1. From the Message Flow Mapping editor Overview, select the Target Value that you want to edit. A small box appears at the end of the row.
  2. Click the box at the end of the row to open the Compose Mapping Expression editor. Alternatively, from the Outline view, select the value you wish to edit and right-click. Select Edit Mapping from the pop-up menu and the Compose Mapping Expression editor appears.
  3. In the top view, highlight the value to which you want to apply the function, or the position where you want to add the function.
  4. Select the type of function that you want to use from the right box with the drop-down arrow.
  5. Select the function by clicking the fast-forward arrow to the right of this box.
  6. Drag and drop the selected function onto the value or position selected in step 3. If you drop the function onto a selected value, that value is placed into the selected function at the appropriate position. If you drop the function into a selected the position, the function is placed there ready for you to add the necessary values into that function.
