Uninstalling silently on Windows

You can remove WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker without user interaction. This process is called unattended (or silent) removal and it uses a response file. This is a text file containing values for the options you select when you uninstall WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker.

  1. Stop all running processes that use any part of WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker (brokers, Configuration Manager, and User Name Server) before uninstalling. Use the mqsilist (list resources) command to check which components are running. Stop each component using the mqsistop command. End all active sessions of the Message Brokers Toolkit.
  2. If you do not plan to reinstall on this machine, delete all the runtime components. When you delete a component, all its associated data and resources are deleted. Use the following commands to delete one or more components: mqsideletebroker command, mqsideleteconfigmgr command, and mqsideleteusernameserver command.
  3. To silently uninstall, first issue a command similar to the following:
    uninstaller.exe -options-record <responsefile>
    where
    -options-record <responsefile>
specifies that the uninstall wizard generates a response file <responsefile> in the current directory from the options that you select during the uninstall action. To ensure this response file is not deleted as part of the uninstall, create this response file in another directory.
  4. Now rerun the uninstaller program specifying the silent options and the response file to use:
    uninstaller.exe -options <responsefile> -silent
The uninstaller runs without interaction according to the options selected when you recorded the response file.
