You can extend a WebSphere Studio Application Developer Integration Edition (WSADIE) workbench with this product. This integrates the Message Brokers Toolkit into the WSADIE workbench, and the Broker Administration perspective and the Broker Application Development perspective are available in WSADIE.
To do this, you must have the appropriate supported level of WSADIE. The version that can be extended is WSADIE Version 5.1. You must apply "WebSphere Studio Application Developer Integration Edition Interim Fix 002 - General Fixes 2.0.0" and "WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker Interim Fix 001 - Prerequisite Fixes 1.0.0.1".
You must also check that you have installed the correct level of the Message Brokers Toolkit. The Version 5.0 toolkit is compatible with WSADIE Version 5.0, and the Version 5.1 toolkit is compatible with WSADIE Version 5.1; all other combinations are invalid. You cannot install both versions of the toolkit on one system.
For further details about toolkit versions, refer to Different versions of the Message Brokers Toolkit.
If you want to integrate the two products, complete this sequence of actions:
On the Windows systems on which you intend to install the toolkit and use WSADIE, choose a custom install. The install program recognizes that WSADIE is already installed and asks you to confirm that you require this integration. Select the check box to indicate that you do want integration; clear it to indicate that you do not. The install program installs the Message Brokers Toolkit workbench, and sets up links to that from the WSADIE workbench.
If you choose not to integrate the two workbenches together at this time, you can create the required links yourself at any time after installation. This is described in Linking the two workbenches.
Refer to Applying fixes for detailed instructions for both WSADIE and WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker required upgrades.
If you access both the WSADIE and the Message Brokers Toolkit workbenches, you can share resources, subject to the restrictions described in Sharing resources.
Do not link to the extension points evdeps and ibdeps.
A default directory is initially set, and this varies for each workbench (it depends on the install location). If you want to share resources in a common directory, do not use the default directory shown in either workbench, but enter a common directory and ensure all your users know where to find the WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker resources.
Alternatively, you can use a shared repository, such as CVS.
When you open a workbench, you might have to import a resource that you want to work with from the directory or repository, if it is not already in the workspace specific to that instance of the workbench.
