Deploying a topology configuration

Before you start:

You should have configured your broker domain as described in Broker domain.

When you first deploy to a broker, you might not be deploying to an execution group. This is the case if you select topology deploys. The result of this type of deployment is a process that is labelled $SYS_mqsi. This process is used to handle publish/subscribe data. If you successfully deploy other execution groups to the broker, the $SYS_mqsi process is not started; its role is taken by one of the running execution groups.

From the Broker Administration perspective, in the Domains view, you can display your server domains. The following steps show you how to deploy a topology configuration from this view.

  1. Expand the domain from where you want to perform the deploy.
  2. Right-click Broker Topology.
  3. Click Deploy Topology Configuration.
  4. Click Delta to deploy only the changed items, or click Complete to deploy the entire configuration.

The Configuration Manager deploys the broker topology and a BIP08921 information message is raised, confirming that the request was received by the Configuration Manager.

Look in the Event Log to verify the results of the deployment. Double-click Event Log in the Domains view under the target execution group. If the deploy was successful you see the following messages in the Logs view:
  • BIP4040I
  • BIP2056I

Deployment can also be initiated using the mqsideploy command, as described in mqsideploy command.
